Chapter 103: Hawks

Hawks strutted into U.A. High School with all the confidence of a pro—his unique quirk allowed him to soar through the sky with graceful ease, and he knew his charisma made him a favorite amongst the students. The past few weeks had been full of chaos for the licensed heroes, and now that Aizawa had needed to step away for some critical hero work, it was time for Hawks to prove himself. He was ready, really he was. "How hard could it be to babysit aspiring heroes for a week?"

The answer came swiftly as he swung open the classroom door. He was met with complete and utter chaos. A literal Nerf gun fight was already in full swing, with students dodging foam bullets, shrieking with laughter and adrenaline. Kaminari, armed with a bright green Nerf gun, was taking aim at Bakugo, who was retaliating by shouting a rain of insults while desperately seeking cover.

"Hawks! Help! Incoming!" yelled Kirishima, ducking down to avoid a barrage of foam missiles.

In that moment, Hawks realized he might have underplayed the scenario in his head. He quickly grabbed a stray Nerf blaster from Sero and dove to the floor, trying to join the fray. The sound of laughter and shouting filled the air as he fought valiantly to survive the onslaught of nerf bullets — a task he imagined would be simpler than dealing with real villains.

After a chaotic few minutes, the Nerf guns were hastily abandoned as the students piled on top of each other in a game of who could stay upright the longest. With that out of the way, Hawks took a breath and tried to look authoritative, raising a brow at his class.

"Alright, heroes! Let's switch to something a little… calmer. Board games, anyone?"

The response was a loud cheer, and Hawks frowned slightly. He'd been thinking Monopoly, but he should have known better. As soon as the game began, it quickly descended into an all-out brawl.

"What do you mean I can't buy Park Place?" Uraraka yelled, shoving her hands on the board as she glared at Mina, who had just gleefully purchased it.

"Stop being a sore loser, Ochako! It's not my fault you have bad luck!" Mina shot back, as she flipped the game piece across the table. In a matter of moments, the board erupted into a flurry of cardboard, plastic houses, and very heated arguments.

Later that week, class meetings never felt quite like a formal meeting. Hawks found himself negotiating peace talks between Bakugo and Kaminari, arguing over who would win if they played Rock-Paper-Scissors. "It's just a game!" he tried to reason, but they didn't want to hear it. Chaos. Total chaos.

By Friday, many of the students were physically and emotionally exhausted. Hawks, however, was ready for it to be over. On his final night of duty, he marched into the pro hero lounge, pushing a bucket of fried chicken into the center of the table with an exhausted sigh.

"You won't believe what I went through, you guys," he declared, slumping into a chair, burying his head in his arms. "Aizawa makes it look so easy."

Midnight leaned back, her eyes sparkled with humor. "We tried to warn you, but you were so confident!"

All Might nodded, a sympathetic grin breaking through his usual cheer. "I think we can all agree, class 1-A has some sort of energy that we can't quite comprehend!"

Hawks, his wings drooping with fatigue, looked up; his bravado had deserted him. "I didn't think I'd be outmaneuvered by teenagers armed with foam guns, or that I'd have to referee a board game that ended with half the pieces broken and all of their friendship temporarily dismantled!"

"Welcome to the club," All Might chuckled. "Those kids have a way of turning every situation into absolute chaos. But you did survive the week, right?"

"Barely," Hawks said, reaching for a piece of fried chicken, "but I swear, never again. Just wait until Aizawa comes back—he won't know what hit him."

As laughter bubbled up around the table, Hawks realized that maybe, just maybe, being a teacher had its unexpected delights. But for now, he was content to wallow in the comfort of fried chicken and the company of fellow pro heroes, grateful for the reminder that every experience—whether good or exhausting—was all part of being a part of the hero community.
