Marvel: Web of Spiders

Chapter 4: 4- Meeting the Spiders, All of them This Time

(3rd pov)

Atop a nearby building, Jayce watched as the police extracted the two unlucky saps from the lightpost, Captain Dawn being the one to read the note he left. Sipping on a far-too-sweet-coffee and taking a bite out of his meat lover's pizza, he listened in on what they were saying.

"Not-so-local-Spidey? What does this mean?" she asked her men.

"There's been some strange sightings of other spiders around New York, Ma'm. Our men at Oscorp reported that they might be from a separate reality, but couldn't get much of anything else out of them."

Dawn nodded thoughtfully. "Well, it's good to have the help. Keep an eye out for more sightings and lend them a hand when possible…For Peter."

They all nodded, happy to help the man that had saved all of their lives several times over. ""On it Ma'am!"

Jayce smiled to himself. "I hope I can have my city like this when I go back. It'll be nice to not be chased around by the police all the time."

Just as he finished eating his unorthodox combination of foods, he felt his tingle again, bigger this time. Launching into motion, he flew across the cityscape, crossing entire blocks in mere seconds.

'Feels different this time, on a bigger scale. Feels… like a brawl. A bigger group of people. Could be a gang fight, or some kind of hostage situation.' He thought to himself, his Spider Sense feeding him information as he grew closer.

Upon reaching the sight, he realised that it was a museum, and there was indeed a hostage situation. '23 men, all armed with rifles and handguns. 7 hostages, three of them are young kids and will need assistance getting out.'

Jayce's mind was running so fast that time felt slow to his eyes. Marking out potential paths for the men, Jayce web zipped inside through an external vent.

Stalking up to a lone gunman from above, Jayce lowered himself from the roof slowly, covering his mouth before he could scream and reeling himself back to the ceiling. Attaching him firmly to the ceiling, Jayce used his webs to make sure he wouldn't be heard.

As he went by, he practiced his silent takedowns. Between knocking them out by slamming their heads into the floor, or trying a double takedown by cocooning two at once, Jayce slowly whittled their numbers down until there was only one left.

Web zipping in front of him, Jayce used the momentum of his web shooters reeling him in to land a clean hit on the man's chin, knocking him clean out. Dusting off his hands, he set about freeing the hostages from the handcuffs the men had used before taking them all down from the ceiling.

Setting the last one out in the middle just as a police officer walked in tentatively, having heard no noise inside for a while, Jayce waved excitedly to him. "Hey! Just finished up here. No one's hurt and all the suspects are bound by the wrists."

Jayce giggled at his stunned face before flinging himself out of a nearby window, waving to the rest of the blockade as they looked up, dumbfounded.

"I don't think I'll ever get tired of that face."

Hours later, Jayce arrived back at Aunt May's house to find a meal set out for him and two others sitting at the table, masks off. Peter B. Parker, and Gwendolyn Stacy. They both looked up in surprise, settling down when they saw his suit, and becoming confused when he took his mask off.

"Hi Auntie! Who are they?" Jayce asked, plopping down at the table and digging into the casserole she had set out.

Peeking into the dining room from the kitchen, Aunt May was surprisingly upbeat. "They are Peter and Gwen from another universe, like you."

'She might just be happy to see Peter again.' Jayce thought to himself.

Squirting her eyes at me, Gwen asked me a question. "Who are you? I dont think I've ever seen you before…"

"Jayce N. Tracy at your service. I was just bitten when I got sucked up into this fractured portal. I've heard whispers of it being because of Kingpin, but I don't know yet." Gwen sent a knowing glance to Peter B.

"We have an idea. Actually, we just got back from Alchemax after getting the Data to make a goober." She said, as Peter spoke up.

"You were right though, Kingpin is trying to bring his family back from another universe, and it's interfering with the Spider Verse. At least that's what the kid called it.

I raised a brow. "The kid?"

Just as I said that, an obviously younger african american teenager walked out of the bathroom, rubbing his bloated stomach. Noticing that we were staring, he stopped and sucked his tummy in. "H-Hi there, I'm Miles Morales."

BTTZ

Suddenly all of us except for miles were sent into a frenzy, body parts blurring around as if they were glitching, tearing themselves apart before coming back together again. After the longest stretch yet, they were left lying on the floor in heaps, slowly pulling themselves up off of the floor.

Taking a deep breath, Jayce glanced at miles. "I can see who's universe this is now…"

Miles rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "Sorry man. I don't know why that keeps happening."

"I do, though. This universe is rejecting our presence because we have a little piece of another universe, our home. From what I can see here, universes don't like colliding much." Jayce told them, returning to his meal. "Oh, and my name's Jayce, Miles."

He nodded awkwardly again, right around the time when the doorbell rang. All of their spider senses started going haywire, warning them of immense danger.

Jayce's shoulder slumped. "And just when I thought I could finish eating too. This universe obviously loathes me."

(Hi, don't yell at me lol)
