Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 302: C194(1)

Kain temporarily released the Sand-Sand Fruit serum. His ultimate goal for a Logia-type Devil Fruit was the Thunder Fruit, but he needed to determine whether the bloodline factor of Logia Devil Fruits was unique within the genetic chain.

If it couldn't be overridden, he would have no choice but to settle for another Devil Fruit.

Regarding the belief that one cannot consume two Devil Fruits simultaneously, Kain suspected that doing so would cause a catastrophic collapse due to genetic chain conflict.

Until this problem was solved, Kain had no intention of consuming a second Devil Fruit.

He still lacked sufficient knowledge about Devil Fruits and required more experimental subjects and data.

However, even with just the Thunder Fruit's power, if fully developed, it could essentially grant him the abilities of a true god.

Fortunately, Enel was a weakling. If Enel had explored or developed the Thunder Fruit's potential even slightly, the challenge would have been far greater.

If it was only the level Enel displayed at the beginning of the plot, then he would be easy to handle.

With Enel's arrogance, along with the composite insulating clothing and magic Kain had prepared in advance, Kain was confident in defeating him.

Magic could influence electromagnetism—something Kain had learned during his time at Hogwarts.

When magic is strong enough, it can prevent the spread of electrical currents, creating an insulating force field. This was precisely the kind of magical field Kain had cultivated.

Kain had already sent Nico Robin to gather information on Sky Island. Once the exact location of the Knock Up Stream was confirmed, he was ready to depart.

When Nico Robin learned of Kain's interest in Sky Island and the updraft, she immediately guessed that her boss intended to head there. She dispatched numerous operatives, taking the task even more seriously than Kain himself.

Ohara had been destroyed because of the Poneglyphs, and uncovering the Void Century's history was not just Nico Robin's passion—it was her responsibility as the last survivor of Ohara.

Yet, while investigating Sky Island and the Knock Up Stream, Nico Robin had other matters to attend to—such as dealing with Smoker from the Marine branch, who had returned to Alabasta.

This time, besides delivering crocodile's bounty, Smoker aimed to invite Kain to become a Shichibukai once again.

"I'm sorry, Colonel Smoker. The boss isn't fond of being a pirate, so I'm afraid he'll refuse you once more," Nico Robin said after accepting the bounty from the Marines.

She didn't bother consulting Kain. A qualified assistant knew to handle such matters according to the boss's wishes, and Kain had no interest in becoming a Warlord of the Sea.

"Please inform your boss again," Smoker replied, irritation evident on his face. "Naval Headquarters knows he doesn't want to be a pirate, so they've changed the conditions…"

Smoker was visibly frustrated. He wasn't good at lobbying or persuasion, yet Marine Headquarters insisted on sending him for such tasks. What a hassle!

Nico Robin asked with a constant smile on her face, "What conditions has Naval Headquarters offered? If they're truly sincere, I believe the boss would still be willing to listen. After all, he's a bit busy right now and doesn't have the time for unnecessary matters. I dare not disturb him easily."

"I said you..." Smoker's displeasure was evident on his face, and he felt like slamming the table in frustration.

However, realizing he was in enemy territory and had important matters to represent Marine and the World Government, he suppressed his irritation and addressed Nico Robin.

"Naval Headquarters knows that your boss doesn't want to be a pirate, so they're willing to announce to the world that your boss will become a Warlord of the Sea, a hero fighting against pirates. There's also an order to buy guns from Marine, though someone from the headquarters will come to discuss this in detail. If all goes well, Naval Headquarters will be buying guns from your boss in the future. And finally, there's the pass."

"Pass?" Nico Robin asked, confused.

Smoker, clearly impatient, explained, "Any Marine-occupied area will be passed through unconditionally. But I suppose the most useful route for you would be through the Red Line. That would be quite valuable for businessmen. After all, aside from that route, there's only Fish-Man Island. And you're probably aware of the ship loss rates there."

Nico Robin asked in surprise, "Holy Maria Joe from the Red Line? Can goods pass through there?"

"There's a special channel," Smoker responded. "Otherwise, how would the Celestial Dragons get their things back? Anyway, after all this talk, are you going to inform your boss?"

Smoker's patience was wearing thin. If this assistant started arguing with him again, he was ready to turn around and let someone else from the headquarters handle it.

But just after Smoker finished speaking, the space in front of him distorted. In the next second, Kain's figure appeared from the shifting space.

The whole event happened so quickly that Nico Robin didn't even see it clearly, though Smoker noticed the strange occurrence.

'Unknown ability… can suddenly appear in a specific location?'

Smoker mentally noted the information. As for why Kain had appeared so suddenly, Smoker glanced at Nico Robin, who had her hand out from under the table, and guessed she had been using a Den Den Mushi to contact Kain.
