Marvel - The Blood God

Chapter 44: Suit

"No, I've invited the strongest superhero in New York to help."

Speaking of the reinforcements, Director George couldn't help but sigh. They were indeed strong, but their will was too weak—useless despite their strength. No wonder Maverick had given them away so easily.

"You get what you pay for, especially when it's free," he thought.

At that moment, a heavily armed convoy arrived—the soldiers had rushed over after receiving the call for help. They were shocked when they saw Abomination, and while reporting to their superiors, they fired at him with their vehicle-mounted machine guns.

Although the machine guns were powerful, they couldn't penetrate Abomination's defenses. Furious at being attacked, he grabbed a car with one hand and hurled it. The car slammed into an armored vehicle with a bang, turning the soldiers inside into mincemeat.

"Use the RPG." shouted the officer in another vehicle. Soon, two rockets with long tails shot toward Abomination. He dodged one and caught the other, slamming it into his own chest.

Boom. The explosion engulfed Abomination, but when the flames dissipated, the soldiers were horrified to see he was almost unscathed.

"Retreat. All soldiers, retreat." General Ross yelled from his helicopter. Banner and Betty couldn't help shouting at him, "This is the monster you wanted."

The soldiers received the order and hurriedly retreated, but Abomination chased after them. In just moments, two more armored vehicles were overturned. As the remaining soldiers faced doom, a bolt of lightning suddenly shot toward Abomination.

Abomination roared as the electric blast charred his skin, but that was all. Even more terrifying, the charred area healed in less than two seconds.

"How can we fight this?" Electro exclaimed in shock. Abomination picked up a nearby car and hurled it at him. Electro dodged and shouted to the Hell Sisters flying nearby, "You can't handle this monster. Go rescue the wounded and those who haven't evacuated."

With that, Electro continued to attack Abomination with electric blasts while moving at lightning speed. Seeing the power of Abomination, Trish and Jessica didn't dare approach and turned to rescue the soldiers who were still alive.

At that moment, accompanied by a burst of rock music, a golden-red figure descended from the sky and shouted loudly, "Descendant of the Cassain family, let me handle this monster."

Iron Man had arrived—Director George had invited him.

"Be careful." Electro shouted to Iron Man. "This monster isn't just strong; he heals himself."

"Kid, he might be strong for you, but not for me." Tony said arrogantly. The mini-missile on his shoulder launched, exploding on Abomination and enveloping him in flames.

Tony was about to boast when he saw Abomination leaping toward him, almost unharmed. A height of dozens of meters was nothing to Abomination.

Startled, Tony fired his jets to avoid Abomination's attack. He raised his hands, and two repulsor blasts sent Abomination crashing into the street, creating a deep crater.

"Looks like I need to step it up." Tony said. A missile popped out from his right hand and shot toward Abomination.

Abomination grabbed a chunk of concrete and threw it at the missile. With a bang, the missile exploded, and the shockwave pushed even Iron Man back several meters.

Before Tony could attack again, Abomination climbed up and started hurling objects into the sky.

Seeing this, Electro intensified his electric attacks, drawing Abomination's attention.

"This is tougher than I thought. Jarvis, channel all energy to the chest." Tony commanded. His suit's chest began to glow brightly. Then, a beam of energy as thick as a bowl blasted toward Abomination below.

Unlike the Hulk, Abomination retained his intelligence. Noticing Tony's glowing chest, he quickly raised a car to block. The beam pierced through the car but lost some of its intensity. Abomination roared and hurled the damaged car at Tony.

Caught off guard, Tony was struck by the car, spiraling down and crashing into the ground, creating a deep hole.

Before he could recover, Abomination—his chest bloody and bones visible—leaped up, aiming to stomp on Tony. Tony quickly fired his jets to dodge. With a thunderous crash, Abomination's stomp shook the nearby buildings.

Tony tried to escape, but Abomination grabbed his leg and slammed him into a wall. Dazed, Tony launched mini-missiles at Abomination's face. Though hit, Abomination didn't release his grip.

Roaring, Abomination threw Iron Man into the sky and then smashed him down hard. Tony crashed through three cars and into a storefront, buried in rubble and uncertain if he was alive.

"Iron Man." The onlookers felt a chill. Not even Iron Man could stop this monster?

Having defeated a strong enemy, Abomination clenched his fists and roared, "I am the strongest."

From the helicopter above, Banner made up his mind. "I have to go down and stop him."

"No, you can't." Betty tried to stop him. "We don't even know if you can transform."

"I have to try. This is my responsibility." Banner glanced at Betty, then jumped out of the helicopter. He slammed into the ground, creating a deep crater.

"Huh?" Abomination was puzzled. Did someone just commit suicide? He turned back, intending to finish off Iron Man. Suddenly, a large green hand emerged from the crater, and the Hulk leaped out, roaring at Abomination.

"I've been waiting for you." Abomination shouted with delight and charged at the Hulk. The two titans collided fiercely, the shockwave shattering all the surrounding glass.

"Go save Iron Man. I'll see what I can do." Electro shouted to Trish and Jessica. They nodded, hopped on their gliders, and flew to rescue Tony from the rubble.

Clearing away debris, they found Iron Man. His suit was deformed, but he was alive and even managed to joke, "Are you here for an autograph? Sorry, not the best time."

As Jessica pulled him out with brute force, she scoffed, "Who'd want an autograph from a weakling like you?"

"Weakling? Do you know who you're talking to, little girl?" Tony retorted.

"What do you think?" Jessica was about to snap back when Trish intervened. "Hellcat, the boss wants to see him. Let's take him up."

"I told you not to call me that." Jessica grumbled, lifting Iron Man onto the glider. Together with Trish, they flew him to meet Maverick.

While adjusting his suit's systems, Tony asked, "Who's your boss? If he wants to see me, he should make an appointment."

The two women ignored him. Soon, they landed on a rooftop where two people were watching the battle below.

One was Maverick, and the other was his new assistant, Lilith—a stunning beauty with a cold demeanor. She held a pitch-black steel spear.

They set Iron Man before Maverick. Turning around, Maverick smiled, "Tony, embarrassed to see me?"

Tony opened his helmet, blood on his forehead. "Why would I be embarrassed? Hmph. Didn't you claim to be powerful? Why are you just standing here instead of dealing with that monster?"

"That monster? I could handle him in a second," Maverick replied calmly. "Hellcat, no need to hide. Come check on Iron Man's injuries before he kicks the bucket."

"So you remember my scent, huh? Still the scoundrel," a voice said. Natasha stepped out of the shadows. With all the chaos, Nick Fury had sent her to investigate. Spotting Maverick, she decided to keep an eye on him.

"Scoundrel? Hellcat? Seems like there's a story here," Tony remarked. "And for the record, I'm fine—fit as ever. Cough, cough." He broke into a violent cough, clearly injured.

Natasha approached. "Let's get you out of that suit. Does it have an auto-release?"

"I need machines to remove it," Tony admitted. "Oh, wait, someone here claims he can strip it off in three seconds. Think he's bluffing?"

Maverick chuckled, taking the spear from Lilith. "This spear is two meters long and weighs 99 pounds. I've mastered its use. With my strength, I might as well be invincible."

As he spoke, he swung the spear lightly, slicing through a concrete wall like it was butter.

"Vibranium?" Tony exclaimed. "My suit monitors my condition. My injuries aren't serious. Also, I've called for a pickup; they'll be here soon."

Natasha checked his pulse. Tony didn't object—she was a beautiful woman, after all. She finished and said, "He'll live."

Grinning, Tony said, "Maybe we should do a more thorough exam."

"Sure, at your place," Natasha replied with a sly smile.

"Uh, maybe later," Tony stammered, remembering Pepper back home. He turned to Maverick. "Where'd you get so much Vibranium?"

"I bought it. Ten thousand dollars a gram," Maverick said. "This spear alone cost me fifty million dollars."

"Big deal. My suit's materials cost hundreds of millions," Tony scoffed.

"I'm just talking about a weapon, and that's just the price of the Vibranium," Maverick replied nonchalantly. In truth, the spear contained 20 kilograms of Vibranium, but he didn't mention that.

"Two show-offs," Natasha, Trish, and Jessica muttered, rolling their eyes.

Pointing down, Natasha asked, "That big guy doesn't seem to be a match for the monster. Aren't you going to do something?"

Maverick and Tony looked down. The Hulk was being overpowered by Abomination. If not for Electro's constant interference, the Hulk might have already lost.

"This is normal," Maverick observed. "Hulk hasn't regained full strength, and the antidote is still affecting him. Plus, he's not as skilled in combat as Abomination, who was a special forces soldier."

"I'd help, but I'm not exactly battle-ready," Tony sighed, resolving to have backup suits and an auto-release function in the future.

"Don't worry; I've prepared something," Maverick said. "Just sit back and watch."

Natasha narrowed her eyes. "You've prepared? Did you know this would happen?"

"My original target wasn't that monster," Maverick replied, offering no further explanation.

Hulk's struggle made many lose hope, including General Ross. Even the Hulk was failing. Should he authorize missile strikes? But this was Manhattan.

"I am invincible." Abomination roared, pummeling the Hulk. This was his dream—to be unbeatable.

Just then, a voice echoed from the sky: "Invincible? You? What a joke."

Abomination looked up angrily to see three armored figures descending, trailing white smoke and glaring at him.

Everyone was stunned. Tony reacted the most. "This is impossible." he shouted.

They were three suits of armor—technology that should've been exclusive to him.

The one in the middle was silver and black, massive like the Iron Monger, wielding a huge axe. Its pilot was the crazed Russian, Ivan Vanko.

To the left was a camouflage-colored suit, slightly larger than Iron Man's, bristling with weapons—Gatling guns, sniper rifles, howitzers. Its pilot was the Punisher, Frank Castle.

On the right was an aqua-blue suit, similar in size to Iron Man's, with a sleek, streamlined design hinting at a female pilot. It bore no complex weapons, only two daggers. The pilot was the vampire, Mercury.

On the chests of all three suits was the emblem of a flying fire dragon—the logo Maverick had designed after joining the Osborn Group.
