Marvel - The Blood God

Chapter 21: Determined

"The Hand is nearly wiped out—who cares about that? You're dead. You're dead. Hahaha."

The fallen disciples on the ground laughed horrifically. It was the first time the Hand had suffered such heavy losses, but no one could defeat them because they had the Beast.

"The person who can kill me hasn't been born yet."

Maverick snorted coldly, pointing at Alexandra. "Attack."

A group of men immediately opened fire on Alexandra, but shockingly, all the bullets were deflected by a red aura surrounding her.

"It's useless. Vampires, today is the day your kind is exterminated."

Alexandra stood up, her voice twisted and grotesque. The red light around her faded, revealing her new terrifying form for all to see.

Once a noblewoman, Alexandra was now a demon—a nearly ten-foot-tall monstrosity covered in crimson scales, her eyes filled with evil, fury, and cruelty.

"I'm going to kill you."

The Beast's power surged violently, and Alexandra couldn't control her emotions. She stomped on the concrete floor and leaped high into the air like a beast, smashing down toward Maverick.

"Is this some kind of Red Hulk knock-off?"

Maverick appeared more than thirty feet away, as if by teleportation. Alexandra landed with a crash, creating two huge craters in the ground.

Missing her target, Alexandra grew even more enraged, charging wildly at Maverick and leaving destruction in her wake.

"Fire. Stop her from getting close to the Blood God."

Mercury shouted urgently, and the group opened fire again. But just like before, all the bullets were deflected, causing no harm to Alexandra and only fueling her rage. She attacked Maverick even more ferociously, swinging her massive arms like hammers.

Seeing the chaos below, Frank abandoned his fight with Daredevil and quickly grabbed the Barrett sniper rifle beside him, preparing to take a shot.

Daredevil sensed the monstrous presence and hesitated. Everything tonight was so strange, so out of the ordinary.

Maverick used his speed to dodge Alexandra's attacks repeatedly. Growing more violent with each miss, she realized she couldn't hit Maverick and turned her attention to the others. Only blood could quell her fury.

"That's not happening. My people are very precious."

Seeing Alexandra shift her target, Maverick shook his head and said, "Alexandra, it's time for you to die."

"You think you can kill me?"

Alexandra roared, but the next moment she fell to the ground in pain and then exploded with a bang. In the fire and thick smoke, her flesh and blood rained down everywhere.

There was no way Alexandra could survive that.

Everyone was stunned. What just happened? How could such a terrifying monster suddenly explode?

Madame Gao turned to Maverick, shocked. "Blood God, what did you do?"

Maverick replied casually, "I didn't do anything. Maybe she just went crazy."

Madame Gao said skeptically, "People don't just self-destruct like that."

Maverick shrugged and didn't say more. In truth, the dagger he had given Madame Gao was not only coated with his blood but also embedded with a special C4 explosive developed by Stark Industries.

As for how he fit such a big explosive into the dagger. Simple— Pym Particles.

Just now, Maverick did two things: he deactivated the Pym Particles, returning the explosive to its normal size, and then detonated it, at the cost of a bit of his own blood.

"No."

Seeing Alexandra turn into a monster and die, Murakami knew that the Hand was completely defeated today. He fainted on the spot in despair.

Maverick was about to smirk when a pitch-black crack suddenly opened in the sky. An aura of anger, brutality, and evil poured out from it. Everyone at the pier felt a chill run down their spines, trembling as if a rabbit had met a ferocious predator.

Not only that, but all kinds of crazy thoughts popped into everyone's minds—the kind of things they usually thought about but never dared to do. Many people's faces flushed, their expressions twisted, almost driving them mad.

And this was just from the aura.

Maverick was in a much better state than the others. He resisted the evil thought of controlling the world and looked up at the crack. He saw an indescribable creature behind it. Just looking at it made people feel utterly insane, brutal, and evil.

At this moment, this unknown creature was filled with rage. It wanted to force its way into this world and kill everyone.

Maverick couldn't help swallowing. Before he could think of a countermeasure, suddenly, a golden, ornate magic circle composed of intricate patterns appeared out of thin air at the crack, blocking the evil aura from the other side and even extending golden threads to repair the crack.

The unidentified creature, which had been aggressive just moments before, now shrank back. It instantly retracted all its aura and retreated, shouting with mental energy, "Ancient One, I'm just passing by."

"Sorry, but you need to pay a toll to pass through this world."

Accompanied by this voice, a brilliant, multicolored sword light that seemed to fill the entire sky illuminated the area, striking heavily at the unknown creature across space. The creature let out a piercing scream.

And then it was gone, as the spatial crack was healed by the golden magic circle.

As soon as the crack closed, many people collapsed to the ground, drenched in sweat. Everything that had just happened was overwhelming.

Maverick ignored the others. He looked up at the sky with a solemn expression

"The supreme magic, 'Sword of Vishanti.'"

Madame Gao was also amazed, asking in surprise, "You actually know of the Sorcerer Supreme?"

Maverick snorted, "Don't you know it too?"

"I've had dealings with Kamar-Taj and their sorcerers," Madame Gao said, recalling. "Then again, Dracula, the ancestor of vampires, once had a conflict with them, so i suppose It's normal that you know about Kamar-Taj."

Mercury breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help asking Maverick, "Blood God, what was that just now?"

Maverick said, "That was probably the Beast that the Hand worships. Its minions were wiped out by us, so it came to settle the score."

Madame Gao complained, "The way you put it, it sounds like some gang leader."

Frank's voice came from a distance: "Who stopped the Beast? And that golden circle... What was that?

Maverick turned his head to see Frank, Natasha, and the Snowman all rushing over, with Daredevil following at a distance.

"It was the guardian of Earth, the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One, who stopped the Beast."

Maverick said respectfully, "With her around, no gods or demons can enter Earth with their true forms. That's why Earth has been stable for so many years."

"The guardian of Earth, the Sorcerer Supreme?"

Everyone was shocked. Clearly, except for Madame Gao, no one else had heard of this strange name before.

"Yes, the guardian of Earth, and also the most powerful person on Earth. If that strike just now had hit the pier, the entire place would probably be gone."

The others hadn't seen the sword light and looked confused. Natasha couldn't help but ask, "Blood God, how powerful is the Ancient One?"

"Please refer to her as the Sorcerer Supreme. She has guarded Earth for hundreds of years."

Maverick was a bit displeased. He said, "If I weren't a vampire, I would definitely go to her to learn—uh, magic."

Madame Gao thought to herself, were you about to say 'martial arts'?

Maverick continued, "Alright, let's not talk about this. The police will be here soon. Mercury, bring over the truck I prepared. Snowman, get ready to burn the bodies. These ninjas can be resurrected; leaving them here would be troublesome."

"Yes, Blood God."

Although everyone still wanted to hear more about the Ancient One, Maverick didn't plan to say more. They could only follow his orders first.

"Burn the bodies?"

When Daredevil heard this, he frowned deeply and couldn't help stepping forward to ask, "Who are you people?"

The Snowman shouted unhappily, "Who allowed you to speak to the Blood God like that?"

"It's okay."

Maverick raised his hand and said to Daredevil, "We're a cooperative unit of S.H.I.E.L.D."

When Natasha heard this, she couldn't help but glance at Maverick. What's he planning to do by using the name of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Feels like he's up to something.

Daredevil looked puzzled. "S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Maverick smiled, "S.H.I.E.L.D. is a special agency under the World Security Council, responsible for handling strange events worldwide. Its predecessor was the Strategic Scientific Reserve—the same organization Captain America belonged to."

"I see."

In this world, American kids grew up watching Captain America documentaries, and many people revere him.

"The Hand is an evil organization that worships an evil deity. Our mission this time is to completely destroy them."

Maverick continued, "You might not believe it, but these ninjas are actually resurrected dead people. So we have to burn them; otherwise, there might be a plague. That's also why we were so ruthless earlier—they're no longer human."

"Resurrected dead people?"

Daredevil was shocked. He thought for a moment and said, "Although it's hard to believe, considering that even an evil god appeared just now, it's not impossible."

"I hope you won't mention what happened tonight to anyone. Things like this can't be known to the public."

Maverick added, "By the way, Daredevil, do you want to join S.H.I.E.L.D.? Director Nick Fury loves talented individuals like you."

"What?"

Daredevil was startled. "I don't want to join any organization. tonight was a misunderstood. I'll take my leave."

With that, Daredevil turned and left. Too many things had happened tonight; he needed to go back and think it over.

"Daredevil, if you ever need help, you can come to us anytime."

Daredevil didn't respond and quickly disappeared. Frank asked from the side, "Aren't you afraid S.H.I.E.L.D. will come after you for using their name?"

"How am I using it improperly? We are indeed cooperating with S.H.I.E.L.D. right now."

Maverick shrugged and continued, "Besides, I bet Director Fury won't mind this. He might even take the opportunity to claim credit and apply for funds from the council to guard against evil gods."

Frank and Natasha were speechless because they knew Nick Fury could definitely do such a thing.

In fact, Nick Fury did exactly that afterward. After the World Security Council learned that there were evil gods in this world, they allocated a large sum to S.H.I.E.L.D. to strengthen their defenses.

Then, Nick Fury directly took one-third of it to build his own bases. In his view, the more bases he had, the safer the world would be.

The Hydra agents lurking within S.H.I.E.L.D. quietly siphoned off another third of the funds. That is to say, only one-third of the total funds were actually used for the project.

At this time, Mercury drove a large truck over, and the Snowman led the men to open the rear doors. Inside were five cryo-chambers.

Frank glanced at them and asked, "What are these?"

Maverick said, "Cryogenic freezers. Put people in them, and decades later, when you thaw them, they'll still be alive."

Frank was very surprised. "Isn't this something you only see in sci-fi movies? Is this technology even possible now? Also, how did you get these?"

"This world is full of advanced technology."

Maverick smiled and said, "As for how I got them, it's simple. I bought them on the black market for fifty million dollars. In this country, there are very few things money can't buy."

In fact, Maverick strongly suspected that Hydra had sold these to him, because the Soviet-style design was very obvious.

"Fifty million dollars? Why spend so much money on this?"

"The five leaders of the Hand can resurrect after death. I plan to freeze them all and then bury them somewhere. That way, no matter who they believe in, they can't resurrect them—because they're not dead.

This last sentence was directed at Madame Gao.

"No wonder you didn't let us kill them."

Everyone suddenly understood, and Frank reminded, "Maverick, their leader seems to be dead."

"There's nothing we can do about that. Fortunately, there's only one, and resurrection takes a lot of time."

Maverick said, "During this period, the Hand will be leaderless. We'll spread the word, and there will definitely be many people wanting to trouble them."

"The Hand has made countless enemies; this time, they're indeed in deep trouble."

Madame Gao sighed. "However, the Hand won't be destroyed so easily. When Alexandra is resurrected and finds the Black Sky, she'll definitely come for revenge."

"And I'll be waiting."

Maverick sneered. "Madame Gao, I'll need you to take us to collect the Hand's assets, especially the dragon bones. I am determined to get those."
