Chapter 37: Marvel Scientist Becomes God, Ch 35.2
Phil replied, "The vampires causing such a commotion in New York City are a new force, led by someone named Deacon Frost. He is not a purebred vampire; the purebred vampire elders usually keep to themselves and wouldn't cause trouble under SHIELD's watch. We can notify the vampire elders and have them track down Deacon Frost's lair."
Ye Hai frowned. "It seems this group of rats knows how to hide; even SHIELD hasn't been able to find them."
Phil sighed, "If we had found them, we would have already taken action. These vampires have been becoming increasingly excessive lately." He then looked at Ye Hai politely, "Doctor Ye, are you interested in joining SHIELD?"
Ye Hai smiled and replied, "I can cooperate with you, and you can come to me whenever you need me to take action. However, I don't want to be treated like a subordinate running errands for you. I am a scientist, and I prefer to focus on my research."
Phil seemed well-prepared and responded, "We would never put someone like you in harm's way. Your extraordinary intelligence in biological research is precisely what we need, so SHIELD wants to invite you to collaborate in this area."
Ye Hai gave Phil a glance, realizing that the agents had already learned about his success in curing Norman's genetic disease and had thus come to appreciate his abilities and value.
"Alright, what do you want me to research? Is it the serum for superheroes, like that of Captain America?"
Phil immediately smiled, glanced around to ensure only Ye Hai and Gwen were present, and said excitedly, "You're right, it is indeed Captain America. Recently, we found him alive underneath an iceberg in the Arctic—God bless, he's safe and has already awakened."
"Wow, Captain America? He's really alive?" Gwen exclaimed.
For Americans, Captain America holds a unique significance; he is not only a superhero but also a symbol of spirit. Many parents recount stories of Captain America to their children, and those stories accompany them through their upbringing. It's no wonder that Gwen, as a young girl, and Phil, as a middle-aged man, would both be so excited.
"He's still alive, but he must be quite old by now," Gwen lamented slightly.
Ye Hai reassured her, "Don't worry, Gwen. I think he still looks young. He's been frozen like a sausage in ice for all these years, and with the influence of the super-soldier serum, his appearance should hardly have changed from the time of World War II. Isn't that right, Agent Coulson?"
Gwen shot him a disapproving look, dissatisfied with his comparison of her idol to a sausage.
Phil nodded. "Yes, you're right."
"That's incredible! I really want to meet him," Gwen said with longing, her big, watery eyes turning toward Ye Hai.
"There will be opportunities," Ye Hai replied helplessly. "Mr. Coulson, I accept your invitation, but you have to let my girlfriend meet the Captain. You also need to send someone to discreetly protect her family. Is that acceptable?"
"No problem."
