In the early morning, golden sunlight streamed through the clouds, casting its glow on the sea behind Mike, resembling a field of golden wheat...
Mike paused for a moment, then slapped his forehead.
Spending so much time on the farm made him see everything like crops.
"Mike, hurry up!"
Logan had confirmed the direction and, noticing Mike standing still, called out, then sprinted toward the experimental base.
Mike followed, twirling the tracker between his fingers before slipping it back into his pocket.
He had promised Raven to help, but their goal was only to rescue the captured mutants. To avoid any unforeseen complications, it would be better to deal with Striker first, then activate the tracker once the situation was under control.
Raven had mentioned that they had a mutant capable of teleportation, so they would be here quickly.
Inside the experimental base...
Striker, dressed in a white lab coat with graying hair, was observing the progress of the subject on the testing platform.
The experiment was in its final stage. Though it hadn't been tested yet, he was confident in the success of this subject.
The fusion of mutant abilities...
Weapon XI was the most perfect weapon he had created to date.
"This is just the beginning..."
Striker murmured to himself, turning to the people around the experimental platform. "How much longer?"
"Just a few more hours for the final adjustments."
Striker nodded in satisfaction.
As he watched Weapon XI on the platform, a surge of emotions overwhelmed him—anxiety, excitement, anticipation...
Then, his thoughts drifted to his son, Jason Striker, whom he had frozen in ice.
His son, a mutant with the ability to create illusions, had lost control of his powers. His wife had been tormented daily by his illusions, eventually driving her insane. In a final, tragic act, she had used a chainsaw to tear open her own head.
He would never forget the look of relief on her blood-soaked face before she died.
It was because of his son that he had come to understand the dangers of mutants, and it had solidified his resolve to hunt them down.
"William, congratulations. It's a success."
A man dressed in a black suit stepped out from the shadows, a smile on his face.
Striker looked at him, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I trust Mr. will be pleased with this, Shadow?"
The man called Shadow nodded. "The collection you've made, Mr. wants me to take it."
Striker replied, "No problem, but I need some time. Some of the blood samples I used up in the experiments. I'll have someone gather more immediately."
Shadow raised a finger, and a black tendril, the thickness of a finger, shot out, wrapping around a chair and pulling it behind him. He sat down, checking his watch. "Don't take too long."
"Colonel Striker!"
At that moment, one of the researchers suddenly pointed at the monitoring screen in the lab, panic in their voice. "Weapon X... they're here!"
"What?"
Striker exclaimed in surprise, quickly walking over to the screen.
He saw two figures, unstoppable, taking down all the enemies in their path as they advanced deeper into the experimental base.
"That's..."
Striker's gaze swept over Logan before landing on Mike. He whispered, "Is that the mutant Agent Zero mentioned?"
His brows furrowed tightly.
Based on the strength the two of them displayed, there was no way his soldiers would be able to stop them.
"Victor!"
At Striker's call, a figure leaped down from the roof. Despite his tall stature, he moved with the grace of a large cat.
Victor glanced at Shadow, then clenched and relaxed his fist, as if a beast was ready to pounce. "Should I stop them?"
"Yes!"
Striker replied flatly.
Victor grinned. "Then you'd better give me an injection of adamantium afterward."
"Shh!"
Before Striker could respond, Shadow chuckled softly.
Victor narrowed his eyes at Shadow, a menacing aura radiating from him.
"Don't look at me like that!" Shadow shot a sideways glance at Victor, his smile filled with mockery. "You and adamantium don't mix. You'd die if you injected it now. Besides, with your current abilities, you can't stop that mad dog, let alone two of them."
Victor growled, "You're asking for it!"
He hated being compared to Logan, especially when others thought he was weaker.
"Don't be angry. You can prove I'm wrong later, and as for the other one, leave him to me."
Victor snorted coldly, while Striker let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks."
He turned to the monitoring screen, his expression filled with confusion. "Where's the other one?"
He suddenly realized Mike had disappeared.
Quickly walking over to the control panel, the monitor started cycling through different angles.
No, nothing. Still nothing.
Mike had vanished, as if he had never been there.
Striker's brow furrowed, an uneasy feeling rising within him. He glanced toward Shadow, who was partially hidden in the shadows. "The other one's gone. Maybe he's hiding in the dark."
Shadow frowned. "I see. I'll keep an eye out."
"Boom!"
The laboratory doors were suddenly kicked open, and a furious figure charged in.
Instantly, everyone's gaze shifted to Logan.
"Well, well, isn't this my little puppy?"
Victor teased, his fingertips extending into sharp claws, his eyes now filled with a dangerous glint.
"Victor!"
Logan roared, unsheathing his claws and charging straight toward Victor.
Seeing this, Striker turned to the terrified researchers. "Ignore them and continue the work."
Logan was a fool driven by hatred, and at that moment, his focus was solely on Victor—he wouldn't care about anyone else.
As Logan and Victor began battling...
"Bang!"
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out.
A bullet, about to strike Striker's face, was stopped by a shadowy shield.
Striker broke into a cold sweat and gave a quick, thankful glance toward Shadow, who was slowly rising. Striker swiftly moved to the side.
"Heh, disappointed?"
Shadow chuckled softly as he looked at Mike, who was standing atop the opposite roof. The shadow behind him ballooned out, enveloping his body before pulling him into the shadow. In the next second, Mike appeared in a dark corner not far from him.
Mike furrowed his brow and glanced at the shadow cast by the building behind him. His heartbeat quickened as his "Assassin Time" ability activated. He quickly ran toward the edge of the rooftop, and a card appeared in his hand. As he leaped from the roof, the card disintegrated into light, and Senbonzakura materialized in his grasp.
The more times he materialized a weapon, the more familiar he became with it. The less energy it consumed, the greater the weapon's power when summoned.
Senbonzakura... he had quite a few cards stored.
"Swish! Swish!"
The black shadow solidified and lunged at him from behind.
Mike spun and blocked with his blade, bending his legs as he landed on the ground.
"Scatter, Senbonzakura."
As the shadow sneered and pursued, Mike recited the release phrase for Senbonzakura.
The blade shattered, and tiny shards of the blade danced in the sunlight like petals, carrying a dangerous aura as they swirled toward Shadow.
