Chapter 99: Chapter 100: An Unexpected Encounter

Standing outside First High School, Han Yu watched as students came and went through the bustling gates. A wave of nostalgia swept over him. Though this was his first time here, it was still a school, and school life was something he dearly missed.

Just as he was about to step inside, a voice called out to him.

"Han!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Han Yu's lips twitched. "No way, I even run into him here?"

A young man sprinted toward him from a distance and stopped right in front of him, clearly thrilled by the unexpected encounter.

"Parker, what are you doing here?" Han Yu asked. The boy who had called out to him was none other than Peter Parker, the same teenager he'd recently designed a Spider-Man suit for.

"School event. I'm here for a competition. But what about you? Why are you here? Wanda and Pietro didn't come with you?"

Peter looked around curiously, confirming that Han Yu was indeed alone.

"It's just a minor errand. Let's head inside first," Han Yu replied.

He had no intention of telling Peter about the mutant situation. It wasn't that he didn't trust him, but Peter didn't need to know about such matters right now. Balancing school and superhero duties was already enough to keep the teenage Spider-Man preoccupied. Knowing too much would only burden him further, especially during his formative years.

"Parker, can we go now?"

A group of students approached, one of them—a girl about Peter's age—called out impatiently. She stood at the center, her shoulder-length blonde hair shimmering under the sunlight. She wore fitted shorts and a T-shirt, her figure athletic and striking.

"Oh, right! Let me introduce you guys. This is my friend, Han Yu. And this is Gwen Stacy... and, uh, my classmates, the usual crowd—let's just call them ABC," Peter said with a grin, summarizing the rest of his peers in a way that left Han Yu half amused and half exasperated.

"Hello, I'm Han Yu," he said politely, introducing himself again. His eyes momentarily flickered with a subtle trace of surprise as he discreetly sized up Gwen.

The name "Gwen Stacy" sparked a memory. In his mind, she was one of the standout Spider-People from parallel universes—a female Spider-Man known for her striking black-and-white costume.

Han Yu wasn't about to admit he admired her for her looks, though; he simply appreciated her character. Or so he told himself.

But now, seeing Gwen in person, he couldn't help but be impressed. She looked even better in real life than her comic counterpart.

"Hi, you can call me Gwen," she said, offering her hand confidently.

Han Yu shook her hand briefly, releasing it almost immediately. The swiftness of his gesture caught Gwen off guard, making her reassess him.

She was confident in her appearance. While she wouldn't claim to be otherworldly beautiful, she was no stranger to confessions from boys. She had long grown used to the attention.

Rarely did a boy let go of her hand so quickly. Most either stared at her in a daze or took the chance to hold on longer than necessary.

Han Yu noticed Gwen's subtle surprise but didn't think much of it. He wasn't the type to be infatuated with a sixteen-year-old girl. Smiling, he nodded toward the school gates. "Shall we head in together?"

As he spoke, Han Yu took the lead and walked ahead. Surprisingly, Gwen was a step faster than Peter Parker in catching up to him.

Upon entering First High School, Peter Parker and his group were required to show their identification to the security guard before being allowed inside. However, all it took for Han Yu to gain entry was a brief glance from the guard. The guard nodded as though recognizing an old acquaintance and waved him through without any hassle.

This scene did not escape Peter and his friends, sparking curiosity among them. While the others were too polite to ask, Peter had no such reservations. He sidled up to Han Yu and asked directly, "Han, have you been here before?"

"Uh, sort of," Han Yu replied vaguely, brushing off the question.

In truth, this was his first time in Berlin, both in this life and the previous one. His easy entry had been thanks to a subtle use of telepathy, influencing the guard's thoughts to let him through. Otherwise, he wouldn't have even gotten past the school gates, which would've been quite awkward—especially considering he was here to find Professor X.

Peter and the others nodded in understanding, finding nothing amiss. After all, there was no way they could sense the mental manipulation Han Yu had performed.

"Excuse me! Coming through! Move aside!"

An urgent voice suddenly called out from behind. Both Han Yu and Peter instinctively stepped to the side, avoiding the collision. However, some of their slower-reacting classmates weren't as lucky and got bumped.

The person in a rush didn't stop but turned back momentarily to shout, "Sorry! I'm late for class! My apologies!"

"Ugh, can't they watch where they're going? Is this the kind of behavior the school staff teaches?" someone grumbled, rubbing their sore arm.

"It was just a bump. Don't go blaming the whole school for it. Clearly, the guy was in a hurry, and he apologized," Gwen retorted, rolling her eyes. She too had been bumped but didn't dwell on the minor discomfort. Instead, she chose to defend the hurried individual.

"That guy looked familiar… Oh! I remember now. That's Charles Xavier!"

"Charles Xavier? You mean the prodigy who graduated from Harvard at sixteen and holds PhDs in genetics, biophysics, and psychology?"

Someone enthusiastically joined the conversation, completely ignoring the earlier collision.

"Exactly, that's him!"

The group of students immediately shifted from annoyance to admiration, their dissatisfaction replaced with awe for their idol. At their age, fifteen or sixteen, Charles' extraordinary achievements were almost mythical—enough to earn envy and respect.

Even Peter Parker looked a little starstruck, indicating he too was familiar with Charles Xavier's reputation.

"Well, this is convenient," Han Yu thought, his gaze fixed on Charles as the latter entered a specific building on campus. "I don't even need to search for him. He's saved me a lot of time."

This Charles was precisely the person Han Yu had come to find—Professor X, or rather, the young man who had the potential to become him. At this stage, Charles wasn't yet the iconic X-Men leader; he hadn't even fully grasped his mutant abilities.

"Alright, let's part ways here. Looks like we're headed in different directions from now on," Han Yu said with a smile, bidding farewell to Peter and his group.

The two groups separated, heading off in opposite directions. Han Yu, meanwhile, quickened his pace and followed the path Charles had taken, arriving at the building he had entered.

Taking out his phone, Han Yu opened the X-System app and began searching for Charles.
