Marvel: Beginning with the Collection of Shinra Tensei

Chapter 91: Chapter 92: Consecutive Losses

Fragments of memories suddenly surged into the Winter Soldier's mind. These recollections clashed with the ones Hydra had implanted in him, creating a mental cacophony akin to a deafening rock concert inside his head. The pain made him tremble uncontrollably on the ground.

"Looks like there's still hope."

Han Yu nodded slightly, flicking his finger. A faint green light surged into the Winter Soldier's head, and he immediately calmed down, his eyes slowly closing as he drifted into a deep sleep.

"Boss, did you kill him?"

At that moment, Ultron walked over and asked after seeing Han Yu's actions.

"No, I just put him to sleep. This green energy will help clear the programming Hydra implanted in his mind. When he wakes up, he'll remember who he really is."

Han Yu swiped his hand across his face, returning to his original appearance. This was Captain America's best friend, after all. If he could heal the Winter Soldier and bring him back to Steve, the favor owed would not be an easy one to repay. Han Yu understood just how important Bucky was to Captain America.

Otherwise, Steve wouldn't have broken ties with Stark over Bucky, and the Avengers wouldn't have splintered because of it. Han Yu hoped to prevent that tragedy from happening.

The alien invaders who would descend on Earth in the future would only grow stronger and more numerous. The Battle of New York was merely the opening act. Han Yu knew that even greater threats lay ahead: Dormammu, Thanos, the Silver Surfer—these were not enemies to be trifled with.

This world was no longer the Marvel Universe that followed a predetermined script.

There would be many unforeseen changes, and a single deviation could lead to irreversible consequences. Right now, every potential ally counted, and every bit of strength mattered.

"Alright, let's go."

Using the energy of the Green Lantern Ring, Han Yu lifted the unconscious Winter Soldier into the air. Seeing that Ultron had finished extracting Zola's data, the two returned to the surface.

Looking down at the abandoned S.H.I.E.L.D. site, green light swirled in Han Yu's palm, forming into a delicate, crystalline lotus flower the size of his hand.

Ultron glanced at the glowing lotus with curiosity. Despite its fragile appearance, it radiated immense energy.

It was hard to believe that Han Yu had conjured such a powerful construct in mere seconds. His mastery over the Green Lantern Ring had clearly reached an extraordinary level.

"Go."

With a gentle command, the lotus floated downward. The moment it touched the building below, it erupted silently. The blast didn't scatter outward but surged downward in a cylindrical column of destruction.

In the blink of an eye, the site had been reduced to rubble, leaving behind a deep crater. Everything within had been obliterated without a trace.

After ensuring everything was destroyed, Han Yu glanced briefly at a seemingly random spot nearby. A faint smile played at the corner of his lips, but he said nothing. With that, he and Ultron departed.

About half an hour after the two had left, several figures emerged from the spot Han Yu had glanced at earlier.

One of them spoke up, "Did he notice us just now?"

"Probably not. We were hidden pretty well."

"I think we were exposed. He glanced right at us but seemed uninterested, like he couldn't be bothered."

"We should inform Mr. Pierce immediately. Zola has been destroyed, and the Winter Soldier has been taken. Mr. Pierce is not going to be happy about this."

A few figures discussed for a while. From their conversation, it was clear they were Hydra operatives tasked with monitoring Zola. They had witnessed Han Yu and Ultron enter, destroy the facility, and then leave.

Late at night, in a luxurious villa, a middle-aged man listened to his subordinates' report. In a fit of rage, he swept everything off his desk with a loud crash and roared, "What did you just say? Say it again!"

The Hydra operative trembled and stammered, "Zola… has been destroyed, and the Winter Soldier has been taken…"

Hearing the repeated report, the middle-aged man felt a surge of anger and blood rushing to his head. He staggered back a few steps and sank into a chair, his face suddenly looking several years older.

This man was none other than Alexander Pierce, the current leader of Hydra and the mastermind behind S.H.I.E.L.D.'s infiltration. Hydra's smooth infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. was largely thanks to his efforts.

Pierce took several deep breaths, suppressing the fury in his chest, and said, "Where is that man? Make the arrangements. I want to see him first thing tomorrow morning!"

The Hydra operative quickly responded, "We've already tracked his location. He's in a general store in downtown New York City. I'll prepare the car immediately and be ready to depart at any time!"

With that, the Hydra operative retreated as if granted amnesty. His fear was justified—he was one of the operatives who had just returned from New Jersey. The companions who had returned with him were now lifeless bodies lying nearby, shot dead by the enraged Pierce during their report.

This operative was the sole survivor.

Without sparing a glance at the retreating agent, Pierce slowly walked to the large floor-to-ceiling window of his room. Gazing at the starry night sky, he muttered, "The Hydra plan must not fail under my watch. Han Yu… who exactly are you?"

Back at the general store, Han Yu and Ultron each returned to their respective rooms. Han Yu had always suppressed the godly power brought by the Immortal Seal, preferring not to let it make him perpetually energetic.

He had no desire to become an unyielding workaholic. Sleeping was one of life's great pleasures, and he cherished the feeling of waking up refreshed in the morning and breathing in the crisp air—it was one of his favorite experiences.

"Alright, I'm going to sleep now. Make sure you finish that software for me."

After settling the Winter Soldier into an empty room, Han Yu yawned and addressed Ultron.

"Boss, this is exploitation, you know."

Ultron sighed in mock frustration. "It's the middle of the night. Instead of gaming, I'm stuck working. Is this the miserable life of a balding programmer?"

Han Yu laughed, patting Ultron's shoulder and quoting an old saying from his hometown, "Great responsibilities are bestowed upon those destined for greatness. I believe in you. You're a rising star!"

"Yeah, right." Ultron rolled his eyes and muttered, "I'll finish the software. If all goes well, you'll see it by morning."

"Good. Wake me up when it's done."

The next morning, Han Yu was abruptly awakened by a rapid, insistent knocking on his door.

"Boss! Wake up, wake up! The sun's already up. Come on, get out of bed!"

The relentless knocking left Han Yu no chance of falling back asleep. He groaned as he got up and opened the door, "Alright, alright! I'm up! Can't a guy sleep in peace around here?"

"Hey, you told me to wake you up when it's done…"
