Marvel: As Thor

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Arrival In Asgard

Arrival in Asgard

Maya Hansen gazed around in awe, her eyes wide as she took in the grandeur of the realm. "This… this is Asgard?" she murmured, her voice tinged with disbelief.

Before her stretched an awe-inspiring cityscape. Towering skyscrapers shimmered under a golden sky, their elegant forms accented by unique hovering structures. The air was alive with an energy that felt both ancient and futuristic. The seamless blend of classical artistry and advanced technology gave Asgard a timeless beauty that was simply breathtaking.

Heimdall, standing tall at the edge of the Bifrost, regarded her calmly. "Welcome to Asgard," he said, his deep voice resonating with authority. His sharp golden eyes seemed to pierce through her very soul, as though he were appraising her worth.

Thor stepped forward, his expression cheerful and confident. "Heimdall, this is Maya Hansen, a brilliant scientist from Midgard. I personally invited her to Asgard. Her knowledge may prove invaluable to us."

Thor then turned to Maya, gesturing toward the imposing figure. "This is Heimdall, guardian of the Bifrost. He sees all and hears all in the Nine Realms. Oh, and he's also one of the best warriors in Asgard. Trust me, you're in good hands."

Before Maya could reply, a new voice called out.

"Thor, you're back! What news do you bring from your adventures on Earth?"

Maya turned to see a strikingly beautiful woman striding toward them. Her posture exuded confidence, and the sword at her side only enhanced her commanding presence.

Thor grinned. "Sif! It's good to see you."

Sif, Asgard's first female warrior and one of its most skilled combatants, was well-known in the Nine Realms. To Thor, she was more than just a warrior—she was a childhood companion and one of his most trusted allies.

Her tone softened slightly as she addressed him. "It's good to have you back. Was there anything of particular interest on Midgard?"

Thor chuckled. "Plenty, but the most satisfying thing? I finally got the better of Loki."

At this, the Warriors Three—Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun—arrived, their laughter echoing through the air. Mocking Loki was a shared pastime, and they relished any opportunity to hear of Thor's triumphs over his mischievous brother.

Fandral, ever the jokester, smirked as his eyes flicked between Thor and Maya. "Thor, aren't you worried Sif might start swinging her sword if she finds out you've brought a guest?"

Thor laughed nervously as Sif raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed with Fandral's humor. One sharp glare from her silenced the other warriors instantly. It was no secret that Sif's skills in battle far exceeded theirs.

Meanwhile, Thor felt a sudden presence in his mind—his system.

"Congratulations! You've triggered a Sif-related mission: Shura Field. Choose one of the following tasks to proceed!"

1. Reject Sif. Reward: A bar of soap (real men f**k men, women are overrated pigs).

2. Give Sif an explanation. Reward: Three random Infinity Stone experience coupons (the goddess has waited for you for over a thousand years—don't disappoint her now!).

Thor sighed inwardly. Must you be so dramatic, System?

His gaze shifted to Sif, who was doing her best to maintain her composure. But there was sadness in her eyes, a vulnerability she rarely showed.

He stepped closer to her, his expression softening. Slowly, he reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. His voice was gentle yet firm. "Sif, don't frown. After all these years, do you really think I don't understand your feelings?"

Sif's cheeks flushed a deep red, an uncharacteristic reaction for someone as confident as her. Though they'd shared countless moments as comrades, this felt different—intimate in a way that left her speechless.

Behind them, the Warriors Three erupted into whistles and cheers, adding to Sif's embarrassment.

Standing a few steps away, Maya crossed her arms, watching the interaction with a bemused expression. "Men," she muttered under her breath. "Always the same."

Odin's Throne Room

The grandeur of the throne room was unparalleled. Golden light filtered through the high windows, illuminating the intricate carvings that adorned the walls. At the center of the hall sat Odin, the All-Father, his presence commanding and unyielding.

Even now, aged and weary, Odin was a force to be reckoned with. His one remaining eye, sharp and calculating, rested on Thor.

Thor stepped forward, feeling the weight of his father's gaze. Despite his newfound strength and clarity, standing before Odin always stirred a sense of unease.

"You've surpassed my expectations, Thor," Odin said finally, his voice steady. "For a long time, I worried you relied too heavily on Mjolnir. It is a weapon, but it is not the source of your strength. The thunder within you is what makes you powerful."

Odin's expression softened slightly, a rare occurrence. "You've come to understand this on your own, and for that, I am proud. You will be a great king, my son."

Thor stood taller at his father's words, a flicker of pride crossing his face.

For Odin, this moment was more than just an acknowledgment of Thor's growth. Frigg had recently shared a revelation: the once unchangeable prophecy of Ragnarök had begun to blur. For the first time in centuries, there was hope that Asgard's grim fate could be avoided.

Standing off to the side, Loki watched the exchange with a sour expression. He muttered under his breath, "Great. Now he's not only the golden child but also a bully. What a delightful combination."

Thor glanced at Loki, a smirk tugging at his lips. Don't worry, brother. I'll keep you in line… one punch at a time.
