Marvel: As Gwen, Start With Mikasa Ackerman Template

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Daily Life

Thankfully, MJ and I didn't have much time to discuss things before the start of classes. We had history earlier today, which was the original Gwen's favorite subject.

Sitting at the front, I could feel three gazes coming from behind me from time to time. I didn't need to look to know who they were.

The first was Peter, who had a crush on the original Gwen. The second was the rich Harry Osborn, Peter's friend, who was trying to date me. The third was Flash, who seemed to want to date every beautiful girl.

I didn't turn around, lest someone misunderstand that they're special because I looked at them. Although I want to say I'm annoyed, the little smile on my face can't be hidden.

I was only considered average in looks in my last life, but now I have too many advantages, with beauty being one of them. Unfortunately, I like girls.

To be honest, things don't look like they'll be easy. I can already imagine George's face when he learns about my special liking.

I guess I would start foreshadowing to avoid surprising them and giving the couple a heart attack. Fortunately or unfortunately, there aren't any mutants at the school, or things would be even livelier.

The class went on as usual, with the teacher droning on about the Revolutionary War. I was in a daze, thinking about the future and planning different things while occasionally paying attention.

When the bell finally rang, signaling the end of class, Peter was the first to approach me. From the corner of my eye, I could see MJ leaving us a bit of space while smirking.

The original Gwen and Peter could be considered childhood friends. Unfortunately, the latter isn't a Chinese protagonist.

"Hey, Gwen," he said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "Do you—uh—do you need help with the homework?"

Peter Parker. If the original Gwen hadn't died, he might have been the one sacrificed to make her understand that with great power comes great responsibility.

Speaking of it, does this mean I'll have to lose someone important, as it seems to be the usual fate of the spider avatar?

It's really ironic. Neith, the goddess of spiders and half-sister of Agamotto, created the Great Web to chart humanity's destiny, also creating spiders to repair, maintain, and expand it, as she sought more time to herself.

Ironically, although it seemed like she was controlling humanity's destiny, Neith was actually a believer in free will. She crafted the Web of Life and Destiny so that humanity could chart their own paths.

I don't know how messy things will get when changing the future or my destiny, as Neith doesn't really have the final say in this.

Would the Living Tribunal or One For All intervene due to my powers not belonging to this world? Or even closer, would the Ancient One, who has the Time Stone, interfere with me?

In short, all these problems come from one thing: I'm weak. Or, more accurately, I don't have perfect control over my power.

All these complicated thoughts made it seem like much time had passed, but in reality, not much time had passed at all. I just politely rejected Peter, saying I had something to do with MJ.

It wouldn't be strange, though, as the whole school knows that the two beauties formed a music band. There are even many applications from people who want to join, especially boys.

As Peter left, visibly deflated but trying to hide his disappointment, I noticed Flash leaning against the doorframe, his trademark smirk firmly in place. Great, just what I needed.

"Hey, Gwen! Got a minute?" Flash called, loud enough to turn heads.

I sighed internally but smiled politely. "What is it, Flash?"

He strolled over with the exaggerated swagger of someone who thought the world revolved around him. "Just wanted to let you know, there's a party at my place this weekend. Figured you'd want to come—might even let MJ tag along."

He winked, clearly confident that I'd be thrilled by the invitation.

"Thanks for the invite," I replied, keeping my tone neutral. "I'll think about it."

His grin widened as though he'd already won, and he walked away, tossing a "Don't think too long!" over his shoulder.

MJ sidled up next to me, amusement evident in her expression. "You're just breaking hearts left and right today, aren't you?"

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help the small laugh that escaped. "Not on purpose."

"Well, you're making my job easier," MJ teased. "The less competition, the better."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "Competition for what?"

"For being your favorite person, duh." She grinned before tugging my arm. "C'mon, let's get to lunch before Flash decides to follow us."

I sighed, following her. As someone I'd classify as Chaotic, MJ's mentality is sometimes hard to understand. Like most American girls, she wants to become a celebrity so badly—American dreams, they may call it.

If I'm honest with myself, she seems to be the type to do anything to achieve her dream. When I say anything, I mean following the Hollywood rules that actors and actresses who don't have backdoors follow.

Of course, she just has that mentality and potential, but I guess being with me might help fix her.

It didn't take long for us to reach the dining hall. MJ and I found our usual spot by the window, where we could enjoy the fleeting moments of sunshine.

We continued discussing our band, though I took this project more seriously than the original Gwen did. At least before receiving the soul of some inventor, I plan to focus on the entertainment industry, where I would gather more funds.

Since it's only 2002, I don't have to rush things. As long as I'm not dead, I will eventually have wealth that rivals Tony Stark or even the entire country of Wakanda, though it's more challenging.

Of course, my focus isn't really on how to get wealthy now, but on gaining more power. This is the Marvel world, after all, and I already have some ideas.

"Gwen, are you sure everything is alright? You seem to be in a daze the whole day."

Well, apparently MJ noticed that I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings today and was in my own world. I reassured her, saying, "Nothing, just thinking about the future. By the way, do you have any candidates for the remaining vacant posts in the band?"

We're planning to go with the popular four-person band setup, also known as a quartet.

I would be the drummer, courtesy of Gwen's preference. MJ would be the vocalist and guitarist. We're now looking for a bassist and a keyboardist. It would be better if the keyboardist could also play multiple instruments.

She replied, "Unfortunately, no. I mean, although there are many people who want to join, I still haven't found anyone who piques my interest."

I nodded. Anyway, as long as we find competent people, we don't have to worry about the music library in my head. Still, I had to remind her and said, "Okay, don't feel pressured. I've already written some songs, and I think you'll be impressed. But remember, we're a band. Any new member must be approved by all of us, not just one person's decision."

Yeah, knowing MJ and her pride, I don't doubt she would be willful and bring anyone she wants, but unfortunately, I can't allow that. At least, I don't plan to find an ancestor for my band.

I can see that she didn't think much about it, probably thinking that I'm just too concerned about this project. She said, "Okay, don't worry, but I'm curious about the songs you composed."

The difference between Mary Jane and the original Gwen was that Gwen had always been a prodigy, whether in sports, school, or anything she undertook.

Mary Jane, on the other hand, was more of a social butterfly—someone who thrived in the spotlight—but her natural talents weren't as polished.

In short, Gwen is the cold school beauty who isn't an introvert, while MJ is the wild school beauty who's really wild. If I wasn't careful, though, MJ's impulsive nature might lead us into some sticky situations.

"I'll show you later," I replied with a knowing smile. "But you'll have to wait for practice. I need to hear how it sounds with your voice."

MJ's grin widened. "You know I hate waiting, but fine. Just don't keep me hanging too long. I've got fans to impress, Gwen."

I shook my head, suppressing a laugh. "We're a long way from having fans, MJ. Let's focus on finding the rest of the band first."

The rest of the lunch passed in relative peace. In fact, the day went on until the end of school, when a supervillain didn't suddenly show up, which made me sigh.

Days like this will probably be rare later when supervillains start popping up everywhere. I even remember that in the comics, The Mary Janes had to solve some kind of trouble or villain before almost every performance.

When the bell signaling the end of the school day rang, I didn't wait for my father to come or for the bus, as home wasn't far. There was no band practice, as I had informed MJ before that I had something to do today.

Well, I was planning to find out how powerful I am—at least get to know myself before encountering trouble. Of course, I wasn't going to do this the usual way, like testing my lifting strength or the like.

What I want to know is my fighting ability—how much I can do with Mikasa's fighting ability and Gwen's enhanced body. And what's better than an actual fight?

Of course, I wasn't planning to find some criminals or anything like that, lest it exposes that I'm supernatural and attracts SHIELD's attention. I was planning to go to another world.
