Chapter 68: Chapter 68
After lowering his head and thinking for a while, Lip concluded that it was he who had attracted Ethel's interest and attention.
But why? He didn't know.
What Lip didn't realize was that Ethel had gathered most of the information about him from Debbie.
"Hi, Lip, didn't you say that the probability of me becoming a wealthy person in the future should be very high?" Kevin asked, his face brimming with excitement. "Hurry up and tell me the details!"
"This has something to do with what you were doing secretly in Aleb's basement," Lip stood up and whispered in Kevin's ear. "If you don't want Veronica, Fiora, and my family to know about this, I suggest we go downstairs and talk alone."
Kevin nodded.
"What are you two whispering about?" Veronica asked suddenly.
"Well…" Kevin stumbled, unsure of how to answer.
"Kevin wanted me to continue filing taxes for him, but he was too embarrassed to let everyone know," Lip said wittily.
"Why are you whispering? Turns out you're embarrassed!" Veronica laughed, obviously buying the outrageous explanation. "But I still haven't figured it out after studying for more than half a year. It's really embarrassing to admit."
Kevin's face immediately fell, but in his heart, he thought, "Humph, Wei, I'll show you how powerful I am soon."
Veronica seemed to realize she'd gone too far and pulled Kevin aside, beginning to talk openly.
Just as Lip thought the two of them were cute, Ethel, with Debbie's encouragement, walked toward him.
"Hi, Lip. Hello, my name is Ethel." Ethel held her light purple coat with both hands, bowed slightly, and curtsied to Lip.
"Hello, Ethel." Lip clenched his right fist and placed it on his left chest, bowing slightly.
"Oh my God! Your greeting is so formal and old-fashioned!" Ian chuckled from the side.
Hearing Ian's words, Ethel felt a little embarrassed, and her face flushed.
"What can I do for you, Ethel?" Lip quickly changed the topic.
"I just heard your thoughts about the Bible, and I thought it was insightful, so I asked Debbie for some information about you first. Please don't be offended!"
Ethel nodded again, apologizing.
"No offense, Ethel. But could you not be so… overly polite?" Lip smiled, spreading his hands. "We're around the same age, and there's really no need for all the honorifics. It's not a big deal, so no need to apologize."
"Lip, you're so kind!" Ethel beamed, her smile lighting up her face.
I have to say, there's something beautiful in this world called a girl's smile!
Ethel was already stunning, but her smile made her even more radiant.
Lip found himself mesmerized by it.
"Lip, can I ask you some questions?"
"Yes, you can ask anything. I'll answer whatever I know!"
"Lip, I heard from Debbie that you have many girlfriends. What do you think about a man having multiple women?"
At this point, Lip's mind was filled with alarm bells.
He had originally thought that Debbie was helping him, but it turned out she was setting him up.
If he answered this question poorly, not only would Fiona need to educate him, but his other three girlfriends might punish him too.
"Ethel, first of all, I don't think women are objects for men," Lip said patiently and gently. "I don't agree with the idea of men having multiple women. I think men and women come together because of love. Love is freedom—it's what you want, not what you own or control."
Ethel nodded thoughtfully.
"Lip, what do you think of the Bible?"
"Ethel, I know you've been influenced by religious culture for many years, and I really want to know whether it's good or bad. But I think good and bad are subjective perceptions, not facts."
"Lip, I don't understand your last sentence."
Ethel shook her head, confused.
"Let me give an example. What's this banana?" Lip pointed to a banana on the table.
"Is it the truth?"
"Great! What if I think the banana is spoiled and can't be eaten?"
"That's subjective consciousness…"
"Ethel, let me ask you: why did God create the world?"
Ethel's face began to show suspicion.
"Ethel, let me ask again. What do the people who wrote the Bible and those who believe in it think—why did God create the world?"
"It's subjective…" Ethel's suspicion deepened.
"Ethel, I think you've started to realize that these religious texts are full of things that blur the line between fact and subjective consciousness."
Lip continued patiently, "Normally, that would be funny, but why do churches and missionaries still promote this so strongly?"
"Because the goal is to confuse people's minds and thoughts. When you can't judge for yourself, that's when you're most likely to trust others."
"That's when you're easiest to brainwash and control!"
Ethel's eyes widened, as a sense of enlightenment began to dawn on her.
Her thoughts were starting to unravel bit by bit with Lip's words, and slowly, they began to disappear.
"Lip, thank you!" Ethel's eyes became clearer and brighter.
"Bang, bang, bang~"
Everyone applauded Lip.
"Lip, why don't you become a teacher?" Fiona teased, laughing. "I've heard that you're quite handsome when you talk seriously!"
"It seems like in order for Ethel to become a normal child soon, Teacher Lip needs to give her more lessons," Kevin said, touching his chin.
"Kevin, it's not impossible to teach. Just tell me how much an hour costs!"
"What? Are you really asking me for money?"
"Brothers, let's settle the score!"
"Oh, man, don't be so obsessed with money!"
"Hahahaha~ I'm not kidding, I'm teaching for free."
"This is getting interesting!"
Kevin playfully punched Lip on the chest.
Lip secretly glanced at the beautiful Lolita, Ethel, and thought to himself: I'm so clever!
Approaching Ethel now was just perfect. He was about to win this perfect Lolita maid, and it was just around the corner!
