Chapter 1: chap 1 - 2

"You could send me?" He states firmly and Jinyoung pauses before taking in his nephew's demeanour.

"You?" He replies in disbelief. "You're barely into your second year and you can't do surgeries. Daniel the place you're going to you won't have any seniors to rely on, maybe a couple of volunteers and a nurse or two but it's a completely different place compared to SNMC'' Jinyoung snorts as he crosses his arms and stares at the male in bemusement.

"The way you're describing this medical facility at the CC, it sounds more like a nurse's office of a school than an actual hospital. If the people going in have injuries that actually need surgery then I don't believe the facility itself has any authorization and much less the equipment to operate said surgeries so therefore they'll be sent to an actual hospital. From what I'm hearing right now I just need to bandage a few cuts and bruises, maybe a broken bone from time to time which is something I know I can do well" Daniel reasons as he leans forward across the desk. "Send me, I'll take care of everything" He huffs.

Jinyoung pauses for a moment. It was true what Daniel was saying, anything that was more serious than the injuries he just mentioned would mean the patients would be sent elsewhere…Still, he couldn't be sure that Daniel could survive such an environment.

"You're going to have to tough it out, you'll be seeing things there that might ruin you. You'll be pushed around and probably abused by these people. You really think you can handle it?" Jinyoung asks and Daniel nods.

"Can't be worse than dealing with you" He snorts and Jinyoung couldn't help but throw his head back and laugh.

"You're not wrong about that" He chuffs as he remembers teaching Daniel how to fight. His sister had not been pleased that her son was getting bruised and hurt by her brother in the slightest. "Your mothers gonna have a fit if she finds out I sent you to work in such a place" Jinyoung hums.

"Don't tell her," Daniel shrugs.

There was a moment of silence between them before Jinyoung sighs, turning completely serious for a moment.

"Alright, I'll send you but if at any moment you think you're in any danger at all or that you can't handle it there any more you tell me and I'll get you out of there" Jinyoung stands and shoves a finger into Daniel's chest. "Is that understood? There's no shame in it either, you wouldn't be the first to quit anyways" He adds and Daniel nods.

"Yes, sir"

"Good, I'll make the arrangements now"

Chapter Text

Daniel looked down at the map on his phone before looking back up at the large building in front of him. Was he really in the right place? Was this the fight club? Whatever he had expected it wasn't this.

The way his uncle had described Crew Corporation as well as the conditions of the job he had expected a run-down dirty building on the outskirts of Seoul yet instead it wasn't. The building? Facility? Practically screamed money and power, if anything it was intimidatingly clean. Apart from the building there also seemed to be loads of people around, most seemed to be talking excitedly about watching the fights that were going to commence that night and who they were going to be 'betting' on. There were also others lingering around that were in tighter-knit, more intimidating groups with matching auras. They must've been the gangs and delinquents the CC was advertised to…they would be the patients he would be tending to.

The doors of the CC facility suddenly opened and soon enough people were pouring inside, Daniel amongst them as he was also swept away by the wave of people. He hadn't been given any specific instructions on what to do or where to go, in fact, he wasn't even supposed to be here this fine Sunday but he wanted to scout out his new workplace.

The building itself seemed to divide into two sections, one side looked like it led to different rooms and such whilst the other was to the large arena. The arena was set up like a large stadium with walls of seats surrounding a large fighting ring that was marked at the bottom. Daniel had no clue how something as outlandish as this could be this popular but the seats seemed to fill up rather quickly. At least the bottom half of the seats were filled with screaming fans who had their phones out and were awaiting the fights. The upper seat levels were much more sparse, divided into sections of different groups, and different gangs.

Daniel took a seat near the edge, curiously watching everything around the arena from the booth seats at the top that was probably for VIPs to the large screens that were listing off the fights for the evening. Music was blaring out through the speakers but the voices of the people seemed to drown it out mostly and encourage the excited atmosphere. The CC only operated fights during Fridays and weekends and every other day the facility was closed to the main public which was good because it meant that people weren't getting unnecessarily injured every single day. Although some areas of the buildings such as the mess hall and gym were open which allowed some fighters to stay behind and train which was just an invitation for people to clash with each other.

Daniel took note that the people beside him were all on their phones looking at the same website. Four males and a female.

"Excuse me" Daniel taps the closest male on the shoulder and he turns around with a glare. "I've never been to one of these events before, could you please explain to me what's happening?" He asks as politely as possible and the male grunts.

"The hell? Why do I have to explain things to you?" He asks with a sharp look.

"Come on Zack, there's no need to be rude" The guy next to him with a long face and pointed nose remarks. "The guy just wants to know about the CC which is weird since everyone who comes here knows about what the CC is" He adds.

"If you won't tell him about it I will" The girl pipes up with a flirtatious smile before she crosses over to the spare seat on Daniel's other side. "Hi, I'm Zoe" She introduces and Daniel nods slowly.

"Hi, I'm Daniel" He nods, leaning away from her slightly since she was leaning over and invading his personal space. The guy beside Daniel, Zack, snorts to himself before huffing out.

"Zoe stop doing that, you're scaring the guy" The male calls and Daniel turns back to stare at the attractive boy that looked to be around his age. His hair was slick back and cut short at the sides, he wore a casual tracksuit and was crossing his arms. "By the way, how did you end up following us here again? I thought you hated watching fights" Zack grunts and the girl pouts.

"I do but it does help that the guys are cute" She smiles before turning to Daniel.

"So sweetie, what do you wanna know?" She asks and Daniel sort of shrugs.

"Anything and everything, I guess. I know what the premise and whole point of the CC is but I don't really have a clue on how everything goes down around here" Daniel states and the female nods.

"Well as you can probably see the fights for today are listed on the board. There are five matches today which are not as many as usual since fighters are conserving their energy and bodies for the tournament which will be happening in a couple of weeks. No use in breaking a bone now when you can break it during the tourney" She giggles. "Each regular fight has a time limit of half an hour each but depending on the crowd's approval and the VIPs the time can be extended though usually by the half-hour mark the contenders are way too exhausted to keep going" She continues and Daniel nods as he listens.

"There's only a couple of rules when it comes to the fight itself, you can play as dirty as you want and if you want to use a weapon it has to pass through authorisation and the opponent also has to give consent to its use but honestly I haven't seen many fighters use weapons other than their bodies" Zoe hums.

"There's been a couple of knives" One of the guys pipes up.

"A brass knuckle here or there" another also mentions.

"Hell, even a sword" Zack snorts with crossed arms.

"Firearms aren't allowed" Zoe points out once she notices the concern on Daniel's face. "You can also get eliminated if you bring in an unauthorised weapon which means you lose the match and you can also get suspended for a certain amount of time from the tourney" She nods.

"You keep mentioning a tournament, I didn't realise fight clubs like this could have something like a tournament, is it like sports?" Daniel asks and the four guys seem to laugh at his words whereas Zoe stifles a giggle with a hand over her mouth.

"Well, it's sort of like that" She smiles softly before Zack nudges Daniel.

Turning to the male, Daniel notes the amused look on the other man's face before he's speaking.

"You really have no clue about any of this, don't you?" He inquires and Daniel nods sheepishly which causes the other to sigh before conceding to helping explain. "With every new season during the first Friday and weekend a tournament of sorts is hosted by the CC where any person can compete with each other. Friday is usually the preliminary round, most people get knocked out during then but the eight who make it through get to go onto the next day which is usually one on one matches created at random. The Saturday will usually finish after the first rounds of the matches and the Sunday will host the last three matches before the end of the tournament is decided" Zack finishes off before a phone is shoved in front of his face.

"Hey, I'm Doo Lee" The person smiles before pointing at the screen. "Anyways throughout the tournament, there's a legal betting system that's happening online where anyone can make bets on who they think is going to win the fight. You can gamble on any regular fights but when it comes to the tourney the betting is usually through the roof" Doo explains which allowed Daniel to make sense as to why everyone was on their phones on the same website.

"Although what makes the tournament even more exhilarating is the ending" Zoe quips before holding up two fingers. "The winner of the tournament is given two options the first being that they can win all the money that was promised as well as a percentage of the money made from the betting or they can choose to fight one of the founders" She smiles at Daniel's raised brows.

"Fight one of the founders?" Daniel asks.

"You see those guys up there?" Zack asks as he points to the booth that was filled with a couple of people already, although there were three chairs that were currently empty. "Those three seats belong to the founders of the CC, they are the strongest bastards you'll ever come across and if you manage to beat them you'll not only get the money but the prestige that comes with winning against them"

"But why fight them at all if choosing the other option means getting the money without another obstacle?" Daniel was utterly confused with the system. What was the point of fighting the founders if money was all that mattered?

"If a regular person was to win then they sure as hell would pick the first option" One of the other guys nods. "I certainly would but none of the competitors are regular people as you've probably heard, most of them belong to different gangs and groups. Rarely does anyone without an affiliate compete in these games and if they do then they never get far" He sighs.

"What does their affiliates have anything to do with fighting one of the founders?" Daniel adds and it's Zoe that answers.

"Because every single crew, gang and group in Seoul and most others around Korea has at least been taken down once by the founders. It's the reason they've joined the arena, to have an opportunity to take revenge against the people who ripped their pride to shreds" She finishes and Daniel nods.

It was almost as if the founders, whoever they were, were taunting the groups. Then again it was a smart way of keeping these people invested in them and not picking fights on the streets instead.

"Has anyone ever won against them?" Daniel asks his final question and the group are silent, Zoe shakes her head and Zack has a grim look on his face. "Really? No one? Surely they're not that strong" Daniel insists but they snort and laugh at his words.

"I'm a boxer myself and I'd say I'm pretty talented" Zack rolls his wrist slightly before shaking his head. "But I am nowhere near their level, don't think I'll ever be. You'd have to watch their fights to truly understand what kind of monsters they are" He reasons and Daniel nods.

"It's starting!" Doo hisses just as the roar of the crowds increases by ten folds.

Daniel clasps a hand over his ears but turns to look up in the direction of where everyone else seemed to be looking. The spotlights shift their focus to the VIP booth as three individuals, all dressed in refined clothes take their seats on the last three chairs.

The male on the left had blonde hair, wore glasses and a clean grey suit and a white button-up shirt. A couple of buttons were left open which exposed the male's collar and throat which seemed to enhance his carefree-looking nature as he was grinning and waving at the crowd. The male in the middle was handsome, to say the least, he had dark burgundy hair, and soft features but an aura that meant as much business as his charisma seemed to. The last person on the right seemed to be much more closed off in comparison to the other two, wearing a dark three-piece suit, hair slicked back, dark shades over his eyes and a permanent scowl on his face. Daniel wasn't sure if the male wanted to be there or not.

"That's Joon Goo Kim, James Lee and Jong Gun Park" Zoe whispers as he points at all of them. "I'm totally infatuated by the mystery of James Lee, he's so handsome and I've heard he's super cool when he fights" She giggles as Zack rolls his eyes.

"He's only a mystery because no one seems to know where he goes once the arena closes for the night" Zack scoffs.

Silence falls around the crowd as Goo is handed a mic and begins to speak.

"ARE WE READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEEEEE?" He roars and everyone is swept up in his enthusiasm as they also scream and shout in agreement. "I sure as hell am, there may not be as many fights lined up for today but for the ones we do have on show I can promise you all a hell lot of fun and chaos tonight" Goo cheers and there were murmurs of agreement as the matches showed up on the screen.

"The first lineup for tonight just so happens to be Scott Kwon from God Dogs VS Jason Yoon from Big Deal, quite a unique match isn't it, James?" Goo asks.

"Yes, it is quite unique seeing as Scott Kwon is a boxer whereas Jason Yoon does Taekwondo" James adds. "Yet just because they utilise different martial arts doesn't mean that the fight won't be interesting. We've had many different matchups before with different fighting styles so I am interested in seeing this play out" He adds.

"Boxing against Taekwondo?" Daniel hums as he turns to Zack rather than Zoe seeing as the male mentioned that he did boxing. "Who do you think is going to win? Aren't their styles too different?" He asks.

"Boxing is better than Taekwondo" Zack snorts. "There's no question about which technique would come out on top seeing as in boxing it's about speed and strength. Taekwondo is more of a defensive technique which will come in handy but in a street fight like this where rules mean jack shit? The boxer should come out on top" He fiddles with his phone as he places a bet.

Daniel watches curiously before frowning even further.

"Wait if you said boxing is better why did you-" "Shut up and watch, you'll understand" He points to the arena as the two males walk out from opposite corners.

Scott had flaming dyed red hair, dressed casually with his fists wrapped, bouncing along and loosening his shoulders as he smiled at the crowd whereas Jason entered calmly. He wore a black suit and was shrugging his outer coat off before rolling up his sleeves and watching the other male intently.

"Now if you had to choose, who do you think would win this match?" Goo asks James.

"Goo we're not supposed to openly choose" James reprimands. "But if I had to analyse the fighters, it is said that Scott Kwon has been to the Olympics for his skills before, he's talented and young which is great. As for Jason, I can't say I know much about his own on-record fights but he's seen his fair share, Gun do you have anything to add?" James asks and the other male speaks into his own mic.

"From my personal experience with Big Deal," He glances across the arena, the upper half, seemingly making eye contact with someone. The screen changes to showcase a group of people dressed in similar clothes to Jason, they glared right back at Gun after being addressed. "They're formidable in their own ways and I have personally fought against Jeju's Crimson Stallion and I can say that his kicks hold up to his names" He nods and despite the compliments, the people on the screen seem to glare even further.

"That's Big Deal, Gun took down their entire crew without even breaking so much as a sweat apparently" Zoe whispers.

Daniel nods as he gestures at the other groups and she proceeds to name as many as she remembered, Zack, chiming in from time to time. Big Deal, God Dogs, Hostel, The Circus, Bicheon Gang, Runaway Fam, Backdoor, Cheongliang Fam, Burnt Knuckles and many more. At the mention of Burnt Knuckles, the group seemed much more familiar with them than the others.

"They're from our school, the Architecture department" Doo mentions off-handedly.

Through their explanation, the starting commentary had ended and the bets had been set as displayed on the screen. Scott after being mentioned as being an Olympic boxer seemed to gain many more votes than Jason, not that he male looked bothered. Soon enough the fight was underway and all Daniel could do was watch with bated breaths.

He didn't like violence but he couldn't lie and say that it wasn't enthralling to watch the two duke it out with no official referee or limits. Zoe was whispering other rules into Daniel's ears as he watched Scott strike his arms forward with lightning speed.

There were three ways in which someone could win the match. The first would be to knock your opponent unconscious which seemed to be Scott's desired choice of ending as he didn't show any mercy. Jason was on the defensive for the first part of the match, dodging the fists and blocking as best as he could with his arms, there were a couple of swipes and kicks here and there but nothing that could be called impressive.

The second way to win was if your opponent does something against the rules and the founders had to step in and end the match. Something that wasn't unheard of in the past but seemed unlikely during this match.

Daniel didn't know how much time had passed as he was watching. The cries and roar of the people seem to drown out as he watches, it was impressive that the two were able to go on for so long. Sweat was pouring down both their faces as they fought and somewhere in between Daniel noticed that Scott's raised arms weren't as high as they should be to protect himself.

"His guard is falling" Daniel hisses and apparently he wasn't the only one who noticed.

Jason catches the opening and in Scott's moment of weakness, he didn't see the hook kick that was directed at him. The amount of force it held knocked the boxer backwards and off balance, the air was knocked out from his body and whilst Scott attempted to regain composure Jason didn't allow it. He reaches out and grabs Scott by his hair and kneeing him in the stomach which sends the boxer to his knees. Scott moves to stand up but the foot near his neck threatens him to stop.

Scott looks up at Jason's menacing figure, the two having a silent debate before eventually he holds his hands up in defeat. The third way to win was if your opponent conceded. As soon as Scott admitted his defeat the crowd went wild and Jason puts his foot down before offering a hand to the younger male who accepts it good-naturedly which was something Daniel hadn't expected. The civil exchange was baffling but not unwanted.

"AND THUS JEJU'S CRIMSON STALLION TAKES DOWN SCOTT KWON WITH HIS SIGNATURE HOOK KICK, WHAT A PERFORMANCE!" The announcer, Goo, calls.

"In terms of boxing versus taekwondo, boxing wins but in terms of Jason versus Scott, it was obvious from the beginning. Jason's experience as a street fighter far outweighs Scott's experience in the Olympics in terms of CC standards" Zack informs.

"Which is why you voted Jason" Daniel breathes and the boxer nods.

"It's easy money" He shrugs and Daniel nods.

"So what if you were to fight Scott, would he win or would you? Why don't you compete?" Daniel questions meekly and the boxer rolls his eyes.

"That cocky bastard would go down in an instant" Zack puffs his chest in confidence. "And I don't compete because I have standards" He huffs.

"Yet you'll watch and make bets?" Zoe reaches over to Daniel and pokes the boxer in the side. "The only reason he doesn't compete is that his girlfriend has prohibited him from it" She teases.

"Mira is not my girlfriend!" Zack hisses, his face turning red.

"Not yet," The other three males say in unison.

As Jason and Scott make their way off the field a group of people dressed in white show up to check on the two fighters. Almost all of them had armbands on to showcase that they were volunteers and not actual medical professionals.

"You see that pretty brunette down there, that's Mira" Zoe coos as she points towards the girl with her hair in a bun. "The girl that Zack is totally in love with" She continues to tease much to Zack's chagrin.

"I still don't understand why she needs to volunteer in a place like this, she could go anywhere and work anywhere but she'd rather spend her time trying to help take care of people like that" Zack grumbles, clearly unhappy with the circumstances that his apparent crush was working in.

"It's because Mira's a genuinely nice person that wants to make a difference in the world, you idiot. If you can't understand why she would want to help people and do something like this then perhaps you don't deserve her" Zoe snaps in the boxer's direction which was something that Daniel hadn't been expecting to come out of the woman's mouth.

Daniel's previous opinion of Zoe changes, he had initially thought that the female would be your typical female teenager that went crazy over attractive-looking men and insisted on making themselves look more appealing which she was but there was also so much more to her. It was intriguing. Zack crosses his arms defensively, not having anything else to say to the female as he went back to watching what was going down in the arena. Once the Volunteers and fighters were gone it was time for the next match.

Daniel hadn't intended to stay the entire time but with his new acquaintances commentating on the matches and kindly explaining everything that was going on he felt the urge to stay. It also helped that the matches really were entertaining to watch even if he felt himself cringing at certain times due to certain hits. The second last fight of the night between Samuel Seo Vs Nomen had the crowd going feral which made complete sense to Daniel after the first few seconds.

Both men were vicious in their pursuit to win especially since both were allowed to use weapons. Samuel with his brass knuckles and Nomen with his…Daniel wasn't quite sure what kind of weapon a metal pole wrapped in chains was but he knew that with every hit from that thing that it would hurt like hell. The two were not only one of the more interesting matchups and fights but their appearances were also intriguing. From both Nomen's strange mask and white coat to Samuel's tattoos that peeked out of his suit's sleeves. The two were both fueled with the burning desire to win, their betting pool was also split into 50/50 and in the end, neither of them won as it went over time and even afterwards the two didn't relent.

It was a tie as announced by Goo, the two limped off the arena, following the scared volunteers who looked like they didn't want to be around the two fearsome men in the slightest. Bruises, gashes, cuts and blood poured down their bodies, it was just as horrific as it was intriguing to Daniel.

How could their bodies withstand such beatings? How could they have the drive to fight like monsters?

By the time the last fight came around Daniel was experiencing a whirlpool of emotions. He was going to be working here and he was going to be dealing with all these types of people and their injuries. The injuries themselves were the typical outcomes you'd get from fights like these but it seemed like dealing with the fighters themselves would be the most complicated part. Daniel had confidence in his medical abilities; it was his own personality that he was worried about. What would his uncle do?

Wrong question. His uncle would beat the shit out of these people if they disrespected him, he'd probably cuss out not only the person but also their entire family line as well. Jinyoung Park was just that kind of man.

The last fight was between Jerry Kwon and Warren Chae. This match-up also seemed to excite everyone as they were quickly putting in their bets.

"A lot of Big Deal members have participated today" Doo makes a point of saying.

"To be fair, they are one of the larger crews" Zack mentions as he selects Jerry as his choice. "This is going to be a close one too" He hums and Daniel listens on before taking in Jerry's gigantic form in comparison to Warren's much learner build.

"The Sword of Big Deal Jerry Kwon VS Gangdong's Mighty Warren Chae! How exciting!" Goo exclaims over the speakers.

"Such intimidating presences from both men" James adds.

Which was true. Both Jerry and Warren were glaring straight at each other.

"They apparently have a rivalry, they've fought in the past but I don't remember who won" One of Zack's friends mentioned.

"Boxing vs Jeet Kune Do, and before you ask I'm not confident who's going to win this match and secondly no I don't think I would ever beat Jerry" Zack cuts in before Daniel could ask. "Man your questions are becoming predictable, think of better things to ask if you're going to have questions" Zack snorts.

"What's Jeet Kune Do?" Daniel proceeds to ask instead.

"It's a self-defence style, something that only someone like Warren who's lived the life that he has would probably pick up on. It's a street style defence that can adapt to any opponent no matter their weight class, rules or any other factor, the only way to develop such a style is to get into a lot of fights" Zack explains.

"So even though Jerry's bigger, Warren can adapt?" Daniel questions and the boxer hums from beside him.

The fight starts and if Samuel VS Nomen was hard to watch then the last fight of the night was just as exhilarating. There wasn't any anger like there was from the previous fight but their rivalry was made known not just between them but also between everyone else in the building. They matched each hit perfectly with another, when one got hit so did the other. Each punch and kick should have bone shattering and Daniel felt like he was the only one who was confused as to why neither of them had broken bones at this point. Instead, the only blood that seemed to have been shed was due to their broken? Dislocated? Noses.

Just as it was nearing the half-hour mark, Jerry seemed to look up into the stands to where Big Deal was, cheering him on with loud calls before flickering to another group. Presumably, Hostel as they were also boisterously cheering for Warren. Warren lands a punch against Jerry's head due to his distraction but it did little against the large male. Instead, he turns back with a new determination and in an instant, with a step forward and all the strength he had in his body, Daniel could see the muscles ripple under the Big Deal member's clothes before he launches his fist against Warren.

Warren only had time to gape before his body was sent flying through the air, blood spurting from his mouth before he landed on the floor with a loud thud and crack, rolling to a stop. Everyone goes silent, watching with wide eyes, waiting for Warren to get up or do anything but as the camera zooms closer onto the male's body it was clear that he had been knocked unconscious.

The people explode into honest disbelief as their voices and cheers resound against the room. Jerry stands tall, raising the fist that was able to take down Gangdong's Mighty Warren Chae and instead of looking over at the crowd he was staring down his crew.

"Jesus Christ that was amazing" Zack gasps as he stands up along with everyone else to clap and cheer.

"How can anyone have such power?" Zoe held a hand to her lips, staring wide-eyed at the figure.

"I'd never want to go against either of them or any fighter in the CC but Jerry Kwon is on a different level" Doo huffs.

"Yes! I knew he would win, I'm rich!"

"Dang it, I really thought Warren would pull through"

All through the noise Daniel's eyes didn't leave Warren's limp figure on the floor. He hadn't moved, he was unconscious but something in the male's gut told him that it was completely wrong. Daniel didn't care if these guys fought all the time and if injuries like these were normal. This shouldn't be normal at all and he had been enjoying it all too much to process how horrible it actually all was. Rules and regulations in official fight matches were in place for a reason, if you remove them then you had incidents like this.

"This is bad" Daniel states as he watches the volunteers rush to Warren's body. They had panicked looks on their faces but no one seemed to notice, too focused on the winner to notice the dangerous situation happening in the background.

"What?" Zoe asks as she looks at him before her eyes follow him. "Oh…oh no" She gasps.

Daniel watches the volunteers try to move and reposition Warren's body and he couldn't help but cringe. They were doing it all wrong, after being hit in that way and falling like that they shouldn't be moving his body around so carelessly. His spine. His head. They were volunteers and had no clue what they were doing. Daniel's eyes narrow as Mira speaks something to one of the older-looking volunteers who looked just as stressed. He read her lips.

'He's not breathing'

Just like that, Daniel couldn't sit by and watch anymore. Standing up from his seat he grabs onto the railing and hops over it much to Zoe and Zack's shock. People at this point were slowly quietening down but Daniel suddenly jumping over the rails and down onto the arena floor, running at full speed across the area caused people to raise their concerns and start talking.

"What's going on?" People seemed to whisper but Daniel didn't care.

He passed Jerry without flinching, not paying the man any mind before skidding to a halt in front of the volunteers and Warren.

"Sir you shouldn't be here" Someone calls but Daniel shrugs them off.

"Hello? Sir, can you hear me? Could you tell me your name?" He asks as he kneels next to the body, waiting to see if there was any response coming from the downed male but there was none. He was out cold. With no response, he was quick to search for a pulse and find that it was horribly slow and getting even worse.

"His pulse is coming to a stop" Daniel states in an even tone, or as evenly as he could to not escalate the situation. "No airway obstruction" He notes as opens the male's mouth to check that his tongue or any other bodily fluids hadn't obstructed it.

"Sir please don't touch the patient, we'll call for an ambulance-" "They won't get here in time, not at this hour and not with the building being so far away" Daniel whispers more to himself but allows them to make the call anyways. SNMC was too far and Warren would either not make it on time or if he did then his situation would be too dire and unstable.

"He's not breathing" The female, Mira, calls as her voice wavers.

"Everyone move back" Daniel calls but people were still hovering over him and Warren, too close and too crowded.

"What's going on? Is Warren ok?" Jerry walks over causing people to whimper and yelp in fear at his large figure. That was not helping.

"I SAID MOVE BACK!" Daniel shouts, completely done with their incompetence. They do so this time, moving back to give him space, his calm persona gone and replaced by blatant irritation. No wonder his uncle couldn't stand people.

The volunteers didn't know what they were doing in the slightest and if this was what he had to work with in the future then he was going to be frustrated 24/7. If a patient wasn't breathing then there was only one goddamn thing anyone should be doing, he didn't need a medical degree to know that. It was basic first aid training, common knowledge even. Clasping one hand over the other Daniel quickly starts performing chest compressions, making sure to keep a steady pace as he does so, using as much of his body weight as he could due to the situation.

Once 30 compressions were done Daniel placed a hand on Warren's dislocated nose and another on his chin before leaning forward and sealing his lips onto the other man's parted ones. He blows steadily for a second, keeping note to see if the male's chest would rise or not. Lifting himself off the male he sits back up, letting out a grim look before checking for any obstructions in the mouth again which was clear. He moves back to doing chest compressions.

He didn't know how long had passed but he could feel his arms and shoulders grow tired. It could have been hours or it could have been minutes but with each second passing the situation was growing even more dire. The longer Warren's brain went without oxygen the more dangerous it was. He repeated the process of compressions and mouth-to-mouth and just as it was all seeming futile a gasp escaped the Hostel member's body.

Daniel feels his shoulders relax and there were a couple of relieved groans from the people around him. Suddenly the silence that had fallen the arena, a silence that Daniel himself hadn't even noticed, breaks as people were roaring and cheering yet again, this time at Daniel.

Turning around he notices that the cameras and eyes had been on him and Warren which first of all sucked because they shouldn't have been filming this, to begin with. But also it didn't feel right to have people cheering even if Warren was breathing again, this just wasn't the situation for it.

"Urgh" Warren groans, his eyes fluttering open before scrunching closed.

"Hello? My name is Doctor Park, could you please tell me your name and age?" Daniel asks gently, keeping a hand on the male's chest to prevent him from sitting up.

It takes a moment of breathing and gasping before Warren finally replies.

"Warren Chae…19" He whispers.

"Alright, thank you. Can you tell me what hurts right now?" Daniel inquiries.

"My head" Warren replies, wincing as he speaks.

"Anything else? Your back or your neck perhaps?" He continues to dig for answers. "I need you to respond verbally and not shake or nod your head" Daniel insists before the other boy could do so.

"No, just head," Warren answers.

That was good. It meant that despite the punch and the fall the male hadn't suffered any major spinal injuries which were what Daniel had worried about the most.

"Alright, I'm going to move you into the recovery position and then get you onto one of the stretchers to take you to the medical room. I'll be doing a full check-up on you then to make sure everything is okay" Daniel explains and Warren hums in agreement.

With Daniel's words, the volunteers at least had the brains to actually set up the stretcher as Daniel was setting the hurt male into position. In less than a couple of minutes Warren was being carted off and Daniel was following briskly. Once out of the public eye and down into a more secluded hall a hand clasps onto his shoulder and he was yanked back by a firm grip.

"Excuse me" A deep voice calls and Daniel comes face-to-face with Jerry. Despite the stoic look on his face, blood caking his mouth and nose as well as his intimidatingly large figure there was a hint of worry in his eyes. "Is…is Warren going to be ok?" He asks as if he wasn't the one to put Warren into the position he was in.

The male must've read Daniel's face and suddenly his demeanour turns sheepish.

"I…I didn't mean to hurt him that badly" He mumbles, sounding almost like a kid that was in trouble. It at the very least made Daniel feel bad for frowning at the guy.

"He's stable for now but I need to go and check on him" Daniel places a hand on Jerry's which was still located on his shoulder, pulling it off and patting it gently he gives the tall male one of his winning Doctor smiles that always made worried parents and kids relax. "I'll make sure he's ok" He adds and Jerry nods before allowing Daniel to leave.

The medical bay was…a medical bay alright. It reminded Daniel of a typical school nurse's office, with its beds and curtains for privacy. He had been in those rooms more than enough times when he was younger and still going to public school, he didn't like being reminded of the memories that came with it. There was medical equipment and a desk that seemed to be empty. The volunteers had placed Warren onto one of the beds and Daniel got straight into checking his body.

Daniel couldn't order any X-rays or scans, at least he thinks he couldn't. So his best bet was to do things manually and ask as many questions as Warren was willing to answer. He made the man move his hands and legs in different motions, noting if there was any pain which thankful there wasn't. Warren made sure to specifically mention that the only pain he could feel was from his joints and from his head.

Daniel and Mira, the only volunteer that Daniel had asked to stay back and assist, help the male sit up and with a small flashlight Daniel shines it into his eyes.

"A concussion, not a good outcome but not the worse" Daniel sighs before nodding. "Without any scans and X-rays, I can't officially conclude that you're 100% fine so I would suggest transferring you to a hospital just in case but from my deduction, I'd say you're fine" He states evenly.

"Well except for the concussion, dislocated nose and the bruises on your body," He lifts a hand and points to the nose. "I'll set it for you, can I do that?" He asks softly, making a point to show the male that he wasn't harmful.

"Do it" Warren mumbles and before he could back out Daniel reaches out and snaps the bone back into place with a crack.

"Fuck!" Warren grunts as Mira squeaks, gaping at Daniel as if he was an insane idiot to which he would say, insane? Perhaps, but he was not an idiot.

There was a knock on the door and before Daniel could even call and say 'come in' a bunch of people were barging in.

"WARREN!" Voices cried out, and a body was launched at the patient who quickly caught it.

"You idiot! You dumb, stupid, idiot!" The female calls, she had dyed brown hair and was fairly small and petite. Tears fell down her cheeks as she hugs Warren, keeping him in a tight embrace as he rubs her back.

"I'm sorry Sally" He mumbles.

"Dude we totally thought you were a goner" Someone else calls.

"As if I would be," Warren replies, wincing in pain still.

"You've got blood all over you and you're still saying you're fine?" Another male who was taller and much prettier called. The male reaches over and smacks Warren on the back of his head albeit not harshly it wasn't particularly soft either. "You shouldn't make us worry like that" He grunts when Daniel coughs into his fist.

"You shouldn't hit someone that has a concussion" Daniel crosses his arms and looks at the group without amusement. There were a couple of other males standing outside the door looking in, they wanted to say something but clamped up at Daniel's harsh look. "Especially if that someone might have a spinal or brain injury" He adds and Sally jumps off Warren.

"Oh my gosh!" She calls. "I didn't mean to hurt you even more" She hisses as the pretty boy gives a guilty look.

"But Doc, you just said I was fine," Warren grunts.

"I said from what I can see that yes you're fine but internally there could be other issues" Daniel restates again before turning to the group. "I suggested to Mr Chae that he should at the very least do a couple of scans to make sure that everything internally is okay. Should there be any swelling in the brain or internal bleeding if it isn't resolved quickly it can lead to even more complications" He explains, making sure that the group knew he meant serious business.

"For now I suggest he gets some rest before the actual ambulance gets here, that is if the other volunteers were competent enough to actually call for help" Daniel turns to Mira who nods.

"I made sure to call, they'll be here soon" She replies.

Daniel nods before he notices the four men at the doorway glaring at the figure just out of sight. It could only be one person.

"Mr Kwon if you would like to visit Mr Chae and speak to him I suggest you do so now before he leaves" Daniel calls and the large male peeks through, a sullen look on his face.

"Warren" he greets.

"Jerry" Warren replies, swallowing his saliva harshly before putting out a brave smile. "You look worried, should I be concerned?" He jokes but Jerry doesn't fall for it, instead, he gingerly makes his way into the room before bowing.

"I'd like to apologise for that hit, It was in the heat of the moment but there was no excuse for me to hit you that hard. I let the greed of winning overtake my rationality and now you're badly hurt" The male speaks firmly. "I'm sorry" He adds at the end.

Warren takes a moment to consider the words before nodding.

"Thanks for apologising, I know it wasn't entirely your fault. It was a fight, of course, and we had to get hurt. It's not your fault big guy" Warren reaches out and pats Jerry on the shoulder good-naturedly. "Of course, I guess this still means you won in our match, I'll get you next time I swear"

As Jerry stands up straight he nods, a pleased look on his face.

"I was right to choose someone as strong as you as my rival, I'll be waiting for our next fight" Jerry confirms just as the actual paramedics arrive.

Daniel watched from the back, informing the group of what had happened before watching them escort the male away.

"Thank you so much for helping Warren" The pretty boy with dark hair and eyes approaches Daniel. "If it weren't for you…it would have been a disaster" He mentions and Daniel shakes his head.

"I only did what was necessary" Daniel replies before waving them goodbye, leaving only Mira, Jerry and himself in the room. "Alright big guy, I need to do a check on you too" Daniel points for Jerry to sit which he frowns at.

"I'm fine," Jerry replies.

"Yeah? How's your nose holding up cuz from where I am I've noticed that you've only been breathing through your mouth" Daniel scoffs and reluctantly Jerry sits down which allows the Doctor to tower over the male and carefully inspect his face.

Jerry's eyes seemed fine and the bruises and cuts were minor injuries that would heal so long as they were kept clean. Once Daniel determines that it was another dislocated nose like Warren's he gets to work on setting it back in place which was slightly more difficult with Jerry. Yet finally it was back in place and Mira assisted him by passing a couple of bandages.

"From what I can tell you won't need surgery or a splint, just try not to do anything that can cause your nose to dislocate again or else it may end up even worse" Walking away from the male he reaches for a prescription pad and writes down some things. "I'll prescribe you some antibiotics but otherwise the nose should heal in around three weeks" Daniel hums before ripping out the paper and giving it to the male.

"You're really a doctor? You look really young" Jerry asks and Daniel couldn't help but snort.

"Don't worry, I can legally write down prescriptions. Take it to your local pharmacy, I promise you'll be fine. You may leave if you have nothing else of concern" He pats the male on the shoulder before stepping back.

Jerry takes a moment to think before shaking his head.

"Thank you Dr…" He looks up at Daniel who smiles.

"Dr Park" He replies and Jerry nods.

"Thank you Dr Park" He states before standing and leaving the room with the prescription in hand.

Now it was only Mira and him.

"He's right you know, you look awfully young to be a Doctor" She eyes him sceptically and Daniel huffs before pouting.

"I skipped a couple of years but I promise that I am an actual Doctor" Daniel replies before pulling out his wallet and flashing her some Identification cards which she gapes at.

"Seoul National Medical Centre?" She gapes. "What's someone like you doing in a place like this? Were you really here to watch the matches in your spare time?" She questions and Daniel shakes his head.

"I was merely scoping out the place since I'll be working here from next week onwards" Daniel answers and before Mira could continue asking any more questions the door to the room opens again and in waltzes three people he hadn't been expecting to see.

"There he is! There's the Miracle Doctor!" Goo calls with a grin as the two others follow him inside. "Wow, he's even more good-looking in person! James, Gun, look at him!" He gushes as he approaches Daniel and grabs his face to squish.

Annoyed by the action, Daniel backs away from the hands before massaging his cheeks.

"Please don't do that" He states evenly.

"Apologies for my friend here, he likes to do things without thinking them through" James sighs as he pulls Goo by the collar of his suit, dragging him away from Daniel's side with a glare before turning back to the Doctor. "I'd also like to both apologise and thank you for what you did out there. We hadn't realised that the situation was dangerous until you charged into the scene as you did. If it hadn't been for you then a life would have been lost and the CC would have been under heavy scrutiny" James mentions and Daniel couldn't care less about the outcome for the company but he did accept the words.

"It's fine, I helped because I could…also because I couldn't sit by and watch the volunteers scramble around like headless chickens" He huffs and Mira lets out a squawk of surprise but at Daniel's look she turns to the floor in embarrassment. "Which brings me to my concern, what the hell was all of that? You have volunteers but no one has trained them in any way? If I hadn't been here today then those people would have been the ones responsible if a life was lost. Shouldn't a company such as Crew Corps which seems to have more than sufficient funding be able to fund lessons for volunteers or at the very least hire actual medical practitioners who know what the hell they're doing? Surely you don't think you can operate without medics on board, especially if you're running something like a fight club?" He berates much to their shock.

"Please calm down Doctor, we used to have quite a few doctors and nurses on call but it's been hard recently" James replies and Daniel scoffs.

"It must be hard looking for a Doctor who can work in such circumstances. I mean let's not even talk about the lack of knowledge from the people they have to work with, just look at the state of this room. The materials are outdated, the beds are bare and are there even any files on the employees and patients?" Daniel could feel his temper rising despite his attempts to squash it down.

"The previous Doctor took most of the stuff which is why it looks empty. We're making space for our next Doctor that is supposed to start next week" For the first time since entering the room, the stoic male that stood back steps forward and speaks. "Before you start reprimanding us so openly perhaps you should sit down and take a breather, we thank you for helping us but what gives you the right to speak to us so blatantly?" He questions as he comes to stand face-to-face with Daniel.

If Daniel were a lesser person he would cower and most likely back off, perhaps even take back his words before apologising but he wasn't going to. He couldn't stand people with such large egos. Daniel scoffs right in the male's face, making James and Goo raise their brows at his bravery. Digging something out of his pocket he tosses the folded piece of paper at the man.

Gun, disgruntled by the reaction, catches the paper that hits his face before letting out an irritated growl. Before chewing out the Doctor he decides to at least skim through the paper, letting his eyes quickly roam the words before he feels his anger drain from him.

"You're right, I am supposed to start next week but I decided that I wanted to check out how great this place is supposed to be. What a let down" Daniel hisses, crossing his arms and he juts out his hip and jaw, challenging the man in front of him. "I'm even contemplating if I should even work here" He adds into the tense silence.

James and Goo who peered over Gun's shoulder to look at the papers immediately jump to interject.

"Sorry about this guy, Doctor Park. He's been real moody lately because he hasn't been getting laid, please forgive him" Goo calls much to Gun's horror.

"What the fuck, Goo?" He calls but James also butts in.

"Furthermore please reconsider your decision. If you decide not to take the job then we'll be in an even worse position than before. We need you here and if there is anything we can do to rectify our mistakes and make it more comfortable for you then let us know and we'll try our best" James states as he gives Daniel a tactful smile.

Daniel feels some of his anger dissipate. James was right, if Daniel did decide to not take on the job then some other poor individual would have to and there was probably the chance that they also wouldn't be able to last as long as the last Doctor. Besides, Daniel volunteered to take on the job, how disappointed would Jinyoung be if he was to quit before he even started? Letting out a sigh, Daniel nods which alleviates some of the tension in the room.

"Fine but I'm going to reorganise the room and all its equipment until it's a standardised room. There's no point in me being here if everything isn't up to the proper standard and I'll need to further check on the inventory" Daniel breathes out, running a hand through his hair.

He hadn't even started working here yet but there was already so much to do and no one to delegate to.

"Alright, anything that is needed just let any one of us know and we'll arrange for it" Goo throws a thumbs up and Daniel hums.

"I'll have to start tomorrow, it's far too late to do anything tonight" Daniel shoves his hands into his pockets.

"Should I also come by to help since I'm more familiar with everything around the area?" Mira asks softly. Daniel had forgotten that she was still in the room.

"It's alright, you're not obligated to since you're a volunteer and a student. You have school during the week anyways, the only thing I could ask of you is perhaps to perhaps focus on first aid training and reading up on that sort of thing" Daniel speaks in a much kinder tone towards the woman than to anyone else. She nods diligently.

"Yes, Dr Park" She replies and Daniel rolls his shoulders.

"Well, I should excuse myself now and head home" Daniel states, giving them a firm look and shooting an annoyed expression towards Gun who bares his teeth slightly before leaving.

Working at the CC was going to be more of a pain than Daniel initially thought it was going to be.
