Limitless Ascension: Strength Amid Adversity

Chapter 75

Soon, a lavish feast was devoured, and aside from Bai Xiaoxi being thoroughly pleased, the other three were in a sulk.

“Over here, please!” The waiter gestured enthusiastically, leading them to their respective guest rooms.

As Ye Junlin and the others passed by Fan Dezhen, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

“Hmm?”

Fan Dezhen gazed at the retreating hooded figures, a sudden pang of unease gripping his heart.

“Uncle Fan, what are you looking at?” An Miaoyi asked as she stepped out of her room with her hands behind her back.

“I can sense that those people’s strength is unfathomable, especially the one at the forefront; I feel a genuine sense of helplessness,” Fan Dezhen said, his face clouded with gravity.

“How is that possible?!”

An Miaoyi’s eyes widened in disbelief.

You have to understand, the person in front of them was the elder of Wendaozong, having reached the Great Ascension, mastering several ancient secret arts, a terrifying figure indeed.

And yet, even someone as powerful as him was wary of those few people, especially the one leading them, making him feel inadequate.

Just how strong must that person be?

Could it be a Virtual Immortal…

The thought crossed An Miaoyi’s mind, making her gulp, before she quickly dismissed the ridiculous idea.

Come on!

That’s someone from the Tribulation Stage!

In the Eastern Domain, they’d hold an exalted position in any force.

Even in Wendaozong, one of the Ten Great Sects, the number of Tribulation Stage experts is scarce and they rarely show themselves, usually hidden away in seclusion or choosing to sleep.

Except for that white-haired old demon who had led the raid on their trade fleet before, surely it wasn’t so lucky to bump into another one!

“Uncle Fan, why feed someone else’s ambition while diminishing our own might?” An Miaoyi said softly.

Fan Dezhen chuckled bitterly, “Miss, while we’re out here, it’s safer to be cautious. After all, the Medicine King Valley is about to open, and this inn has no shortage of powerful cultivators. Even if there are seniors stronger than me, it’s only to be expected.”

“Oh.” An Miaoyi nodded, but still thought Uncle Fan was overthinking it.

Late at night.

The bright full moon hung high in the sky, casting a chilly beam of moonlight.

Ye Junlin stood with his hands behind his back, admiring the bamboo grove outside, a hint of sentiment etched on his handsome face.

It’s almost been a year since I crossed into this world.

Thank goodness for the system’s thoughtful service; life has been pretty good!

[Ding! The system has detected that the host is feeling lonely. Would you like to activate the free voice service?]

Just then, a sweet loli voice echoed in his mind—it was the system!

Ye Junlin was speechless.

System, your timing is impeccable!

Should I commend you? Or should I really commend you?

“No thanks!” Ye Junlin decisively refused.

What a ridiculous operation it would be to chat with the system!

If this got out, where would the face of a traveler from Huaxia go?!

[Ding! The host actually refused; the system is so sad, sob sob sob…]

Ye Junlin: “……”

Knock, knock, knock.

A gentle knock on the door sounded.

“Master, it’s me, the little mouse!” A sweet, crisp voice called out.

“Come in.”

The door pushed open.

Bai Xiaoxi waltzed in holding a plate, placing a cup on the table, “Master, here’s your cappuccino.”

The drink had a pattern of a naive smiling face, steaming hot with a rich aroma wafting through the room.

Of course, the ingredients used were from a different realm; a regular person might suffer severe bodily reactions if they drank this—there was even a chance of exploding blood vessels.

Ye Junlin picked up the cup, took a gentle sip, and the aroma danced on his palate in a delightful embrace.

“Hmm, it’s really good, but next time, less sugar please,” Ye Junlin commented.

“Got it!” Bai Xiaoxi nodded earnestly, imprinting it in her mind.

“Go back now. As a reward, you can make yourself a cup,” Ye Junlin said.

“Thank you, Master!”

Bai Xiaoxi felt her hard work had been acknowledged, her excitement bubbling over as she turned and dashed out.

“Ah, to have such a generous and kind Master, what great fortune for me!” Ye Junlin took another sip of coffee, reflecting aloud.

At first, he was thinking of cultivating this white-haired mouse into a super enforcer; after all, she possessed the Da Luo Immortal Body and top-tier martial arts, she should have been a powerhouse by now. But it seems this path has taken a turn, becoming someone who’s equally adept in the kitchen as in the martial arts.

Even so, this little white-haired mouse was delightfully lost in the fulfillment of crafting delicacies, retaining her innocent nature.

Well, whatever, let the other two disciples handle the fighting and killing.

On the other side.

In a shadowy corner of Dragon Gate Inn, a dozen snake-headed humanoid figures emerged, their pupils dark purple and hissing tongues flickering nervously. An evil aura radiated from them.

They gazed menacingly at the inn, filled with brutal, sinister intent.

“Honorable Priest, shall we proceed with the plan now?” one subordinate asked respectfully.

Ye Jiagu, wearing a silver crown and adorned in lavish robes that signified his status, gripped a magic staff embedded with emerald gemstones, emanating an eerie green glow in the night.

He hissed, his eyes filled with malicious cruelty as his icy tone echoed as if from hell, “To weaken the resistance of the Human Race, tonight’s slaughter plan will begin in this inn.”

“All for the holy war of the Underworld Abyss!” the subordinates echoed solemnly from behind.

Indeed, these beings were from the wicked serpent clan of the Underworld Abyss, led by a high priest from their tribe to stealthily enter Tianling City for assassination tasks.

They understood that with the Medicine King Valley set to open, this city would gather cultivators from all over the Eastern Domain, including many powerful human experts. So, why not take this opportunity to eliminate a portion of the core forces and solidify the foundation for the Underworld Abyss army’s counterattack on the Eastern Domain?

Of course, their audacity stemmed from their confidence in their capabilities!

And now, since Dragon Gate Inn was the most densely populated with guests, it had caught the eye of Yelu Gu and his crew.

“Act immediately, begin deploying the Dream Formation,” Yelu Gu commanded coldly.

The Dream Formation, an extremely ancient formation, has almost completely faded from current records, but the serpent clan preserved it intact.

This formation could induce a swift sleep while trapping individuals in a desire-formed dream, until their minds were eroded away, leaving them as mere husks.

During this time, they couldn’t be interrupted, or the whole plan might be jeopardized.

With swift movements, the dozen serpent clan beings took their positions all around Dragon Gate Inn, each slicing their palms to let purple blood flow and tracing intricate patterns on the ground.

Ancient and obscure patterns began to take shape, emitting a downright eerie aura that shimmered with bizarre purple gleams.

Unbeknownst to anyone, a mysterious, strange power silently enveloped Dragon Gate Inn.

The dozen serpent beings maintained the formation, dare not even show the slightest hint of weariness, all utterly focused to avoid any mishaps.

Because once even a small mistake occurred, it could create a loophole that would awaken some of the sleeping cultivators and disrupt the entire plan.

Ye Jiagu’s magical power surged wildly, pouring into the staff, making the emerald gemstone shine with a dazzling brilliance.

Ye Jiagu believed that with his Great Ascension cultivation and the dozen or so core members of the tribe at the Unity Stage fully unleashing the Dream Formation, it would ensure that anyone below the Tribulation Stage would fall victim!

Many cultivators staying at the inn began to doze off unknowingly, some slumped over tables with drool on their lips, others seated in meditation, yet their minds were ensnared in dreams.

At that moment, they were all experiencing sweet dreams, having their long-held desires realized.

On a shattered battlefield, the cultivators from the Kunlun Realm were filled with despair, helplessly watching as the alien army ravaged their lands, the scene intensely tragic, as if the end of the world had come.

“The heavens want to destroy Kunlun!” an old white-haired figure cried out in sorrow.

The alien army surged like locusts, pillaging and slaughtering, leaving mountains of corpses and seas of blood in their wake.

Just then, a stunning slash of sword aura descended, like a divine judgment, ripping through the alien forces, countless foes screaming in terror as their spirits were extinguished.

“Who was that powerful figure?!” the alien general’s expression turned to one of dread.

“It’s me!!!”

A loud, authoritative voice echoed through the skies.

Above the heavens stood a towering figure with wild hair, a look of piercing cold light in his eyes as he brandished a forty-meter-long sword in an overwhelmingly regal manner.

“It’s him! It’s him! The Sword God, Li Wujie!!” Countless men and women erupted into tears of joy—Kunlun’s savior had appeared.

“The Sword God? You’re the Sword God! The strongest sword master in the Kunlun Realm, the greatest sword wielder from ancient times to now?!” the alien general’s face displayed sheer horror, as if he could scream his throat raw.

“Hmph!”

Li Wujie’s gaze flashed like lightning, his tone brooking no argument, “Those who transgress against Kunlun shall be executed without mercy!”

With that, he swung the massive sword, cleaving through the heavens and earth, the universe dimming as even the Great Dao seemed to be obliterated.

“Ahhh!” The alien beings wailed, engulfed by the overwhelming sword aura, vanishing into nothingness.

“Sword God Li Wujie! You are our great hero!” Cheers erupted throughout the Kunlun Realm, with everyone bowing, tears of gratitude flowing.

“Kunlun will be protected by me!” Li Wujie’s face hardened, raising the forty-meter-long sword, proclaiming the mightiest sound across the heavens.

In another illusion.

On a lofty throne sat a long, slender figure; wherever his disdainful gaze fell, all of the strongest across the world knelt like obedient servants, not daring to utter a single sound.

Hong Qianye lifted her chin, a wicked grin playing on her lips.

Now, all former enemies had been dealt with, and there was no one left who could challenge her!

“I hereby announce, the era of the Fire Cult’s dominion has come!”

Her cold voice resonated across the Kunlun Realm, akin to a divine decree that echoed endlessly.

“Leader’s magical power knows no bounds!” Millions of followers fervently shouted, their voices shaking the heavens.

“Ha ha, ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha……!!” Hong Qianye sat upon the supreme throne, her head thrown back in roaring laughter, fulfilling her wildest desires.
