"Sasaki-san, are you okay?"

Silently, I turned to Takahiro as we rode back home, sighing as I faced the path ahead and gave him a slight nod. "It's nothing to worry about, Takahiro-san. I'm just still disappointed in Sukuna." I wasn't only disappointed in Sukuna, but also in myself. 'I was so caught up in denying myself that I became blind to everything around me.'

He hummed, seemingly understanding my thoughts before speaking quietly. "Once that young man has finished facing his judgment, I believe he will have changed and for the better."

I didn't respond, only kept my gaze ahead. 'I hope so, Takahiro.'

We rode in silence for a few hours, stopping occasionally to let the horses rest. It was when we reached the halfway point back to the mountain that Takahiro spoke again.

"I was sneaking into a clan compound not long ago." I blinked and turned to him as we continued riding. He continued, "While I was there, I had the unfortunate experience of being caught by the strongest sorcerer in Yamato."

I hummed, recalling what I'd heard from Kaede about a sorcerer named Shigeru who held that title. 'And supposedly, he's a womanizer.'

"But that wasn't all, Sasaki-san." I focused on him again, noting the fear and hidden reverence in his tone. "There was another. One that I only realized was stronger than I had thought the further I ran from them. And he had a message for you, one that while I don't doubt your strength, I believe he can fulfill."

I gestured for him to continue. "Sasaki Souta, on this day next year, the mountain will be wiped out, as willed by the Gods."

I blinked at his words before I couldn't help but let a smile bloom on my face. Laughter erupted from me. "Hahaha! He said that?"

Takahiro gave a small nod and I laughed even harder. "Hahaha! That's fucking hilarious!" I continued laughing, eventually stopping slowly and wiping a tear of joy from my eye. "Haha... I understand. I'll take the message to heart."

'What a fucking joke.'

Takahiro sighed, slumping his shoulders, but I kept laughing as I turned my attention back to the path ahead. "Takahiro-san, I'm serious. I'll take it to heart."

I heard him sigh in relief before he started speaking again, but I cut him off. "I assume you haven't told anyone?"

He confirmed that he hadn't and I nodded with a smile. "Good. Tell no one—not even Kaede."

He didn't say anything in response and I left it at that, hoping he understood that it wasn't a request.

'If she finds out, she'll bother me about what I'll do.'

Sighing, I thought about her for a moment. 'I miss her.'

~Scene Change~

"Kaede, I'm bac—oomph!"

I tilted back slightly as Kaede barrelled into my stomach, but I quickly righted myself and set her down. "You could've gotten hurt doing that, Kaede."

She snorted, brushing herself off as she began looking over me for something. "I knew you wouldn't let me get hurt."

She patted my clothing, then gave me a quick sniff before narrowing her eyes and looking up at me. "You smell like plums more than usual. Why?"

I raised a hand and pointed my thumb over to Takahiro, who was standing awkwardly to the side as this all unfolded. "Takahiro-san wanted to grab a drink and mistakenly took us to a whorehouse. I, not wanting to let free sake slip through my fingers, stayed."

I received a book to the head that did nothing, and Kaede huffed turning toward Takahiro. He raised his hands in surrender, which made me snort.

"If I had known it was such a thing, I wouldn't have entered or ordered anything." he said. "And I wouldn't have stayed for long if Sasaki-san hadn't been surrounded by all the women there."

'You old bastard.' I thought, just as Kaede twitched and slowly turned to face me. I raised my hands in surrender.

"I didn't even look at them."

She grabbed my kimono and tried, and failed to drag me. "Kaede, calm d—"

She shot me a glare and I immediately shut up as she spoke. "I remember the promise you made before leaving. We're doing what I want right now."

I turned to Takahiro, who shook his head. I sighed and nodded to Kaede, allowing her to drag me along.

'Wonder what she wants.' I thought as the house came into view.

~Scene Change~

The door slammed behind us but I couldn't care less as I was currently locked in a battle of tongues with Kaede's smaller one.
