Chapter 211: Little Gremlins
As they climbed into the sky, a wave of spells surged toward them. The Bat King instinctively wrapped its wings around Atlas, bracing for impact. They were struck, the monster roaring in pain as they plummeted to the ground, crashing down with a thunderous boom.
'Ouch,' he thought while his head spun.
Atlas wasn't inured that bad, but Theo returned to the Voidwalker Realm just as he summoned Medusa. He grabbed the Death Serpent before the monster dashed for the nearby river.
The Nightowls and Immortals pursued relentlessly, but Atlas unleashed a relentless barrage of Void Bombs and Bullets in their direction. Explosions erupted around them, sending several warriors tumbling through the air.
Meanwhile, Medusa zipped through the water with astonishing speed, slicing through the waves like a rocket. He glanced over his shoulder, but their pursuers had vanished into the distance.
Atlas became excited as the serpent became invisible underwater. He relaxed, but Medusa's voice sounded in his mind, 'What's the plan, Master?'
'It seems like the Nubians are in league with the empire,' Atlas answered. 'We can head north to meet the others while looking for a Spirit Mage.'
'Yes, master,' she responded before diving deeper into the river. Hours later, they arrived at the ocean, and Medusa lunged out of the water.
Atlas dismissed Medusa with a nod before summoning Theo. The creature materialized and greeted him with a happy chirp, nudging him affectionately. Smiling, Atlas stroked Theo's rough hide before climbing onto its back.
They took off into the sky with a leap, soaring northward. While flying, he sent Amethyst a message but didn't receive a reply. He summoned a Darkling and ordered it to fly ahead to find the girls.
After that, Atlas and Theo continued north but had to fly lower as the storm could throw the Blood Bat King everywhere. He held on as the wind increased while thunder rumbled overhead.
The monster flew for hours, and they didn't see any land. Atlas glanced around and noticed a silhouette in the distance. He tapped Theo and pointed at it, "Go there!"
When Theo heard that, he dived and tried to escape the wind while heading for the growing island. Atlas spotted a dozen ships, causing him to worry as he spoke, ''Land on the mountain peak; other people are hiding from the storm.''
Following Atlas's command, Theo swiftly reached the mountain's base and began a rapid ascent. The Blood Bat King abruptly halted as they scaled the rugged cliffs, spotting a cave on the mountainside.
'Perfect,' Atlas thought, eyeing the hidden entrance. 'A place where no one can reach me.'
He jumped off Theo's back once inside, landing lightly on the rocky ground, already plotting his next move in the secluded shelter. Atlas noticed enough room for them to rest and start a fire.
Once everything was set up, Atlas leaned against Theo, who was drying off using the flickering flame. While doing that, the storm picked up outside, causing him to question, ''Is the winter normally like this?''
Theo nodded while replying, 'Mana affects everything in this world, master. From people to weather, it interacts with everything but this year seems worse compared to my time outside.'
He nodded understanding before pulling out a rabbit kebab and eating while watching the thunder light up the sky. Atlas could see a herd of elephant-like monsters walking out of the ocean, which surprised him.
'What the hell are they?' he internally asked himself.
Atlas brushed off the discovery, finishing his meal and settling into his sleeping bag. Once comfortable, he activated the Void Realm and reappeared on the plateau. A rush of excitement surged when he realized his arms were intact.
'At least I'm not weaker here,' he thought with relief.
His thoughts were interrupted by a distant rumbling drawing closer. Without hesitation, Atlas unleashed a volley of Void Bombs toward the approaching threat, following it up with a rapid barrage of Void Bullets.
The oncoming Golems, crashing into the sea below with thunderous splashes, stood no chance. Atlas continued fighting and bringing down the number of monsters he had to kill, thanks to being strong.
A few hours later, he checked the monster total to see how many he had gotten rid of.
[Void Golem – 65811/1000000]
[Void Warrior Golem – 221912/500000]
[Void Golem Commander – 91011/100000]
[Void Golem King – 1/1]
'Oh nice, not long until I clear the Void Golem section,' Atlas thought before casting Void Blast at a group of Warrior Golems.
Following that, he continued battling the stone monsters before running out of steam and had to retreat to the real world. Once back in his body, he opened his eyes to see a wall of rain blocking his view.
'It hasn't stopped yet? Let's go in the realm to stay out of it,' Atlas thought while jumping up.
He grabbed the sleeping bag and ushered Theo through the portal, which pleased the Blood Bat King. When he entered the Voidwalker Realm, it was peaceful but cold. Theo took off and flew towards his nest while Atlas found a tree to camp under.
Once he was done with everything, he noticed a group of baby Scalebreakers staring at him. Their tails wagged like over-excited puppies, and their glowing red eyes sparkled with mischief.
Atlas grinned and pointed at them. ''What are you little gremlins up to? Shouldn't your moms be freaking out by now?''
Before he could blink, the mini-monsters charged at him like a stampede of toddlers after cake. They tackled him to the ground, nibbling and licking him all over. Atlas burst into laughter, half-heartedly swatting at them, careful not to use his full strength.
The little creatures were making excited and adorable noises until a bellow scared them. He watched as they hid behind him, making Cera laugh as she spoke, 'It seems like the young ones like you, Master. The old master didn't like interacting with us.'
Atlas frowned when he heard this before grabbing one of the babies and pampering it with strokes, causing it to go wild. He laughed as the baby struggled out of his arms and escaped before the group ran to Cera.
He smiled while standing up and approaching the matriarch of the Scalebreakers. He stroked her while replying, ''I'm not like him, Cera. I appreciate everything my monsters do for me and feel heartbroken when you get hurt.''
The monster let out a happy bellow before nudging him with her head, 'You treat us too good Master. We have never been this happy, even old Raymond has been checking in on the young ones.'
Afterward, Atlas exchanged a few words with the creature before she returned to her nest. Turning his focus back to the realm, he shaped new landscapes, crafting the terrain with careful precision.
Once satisfied, he leaned against a tree, considering which creatures to introduce next. After a brief pause, he summoned ten Thunderclaws and Razorwings from the Moonshade Grotto, which would live here.
The monsters briefly regarded him, then scattered across the realm, each eager to find their territory and thrive in their new environment. He summoned a herd of Mistwalkers from the Blackthrone Hills Dungeon.
Atlas watched in awe as the mammoth-like creatures entered the Voidwalker Realm, their deep bellows echoing around him. They roamed the grasslands, playfully mingling with a few younger Mistwalkers, their curiosity evident in every step.
A smile spread across Atlas's face at the sight, but he knew he had to pause his summoning. His mana reserves were running low, and fatigue was beginning to weigh on him. Crawling into his tent, he surrendered to the exhaustion that enveloped him and drifted off to sleep.
As Atlas slept, he was transported to a cold tundra surrounded by towering mountains that pierced the sky. In the distance, a fortress loomed, its imposing structure drawing his gaze. Intrigued, he shrugged off the chill and began to approach it. Continue your adventure at empire
'Is this a dream or a vision?' he wondered, glancing around the stark landscape. The biting wind whipped around him as he tried to make sense of his surroundings.
Just as Atlas began to close the distance, a massive horde of monsters surged toward the fortress, their ferocity evident in every charging step. His attention was immediately drawn to the violet magic streaking through the sky, bursting like fireworks amidst the chaos.
Explosions echoed through the air as more spells soared into the fray, lighting up the tundra with power flashes and illuminating the fierce battle before him. Atlas watched as earth and light magic hit the monsters.
Atlas recognized the magic and thought, 'The girls are here?'
An unsettling chill ran down his spine as he watched the unfolding chaos. He sensed the presence of Chaos Monsters lurking within the horde. Before Atlas could do anything, he was woke up to something licking his face.
''What the fuck?'' he opened his eyes while mumbling, only to spot a baby Scalebreaker standing on his chest while letting an adorable chirp.
Atlas smiled when seeing this and stroked the creature before dragging it into a hug, which shocked it, but it didn't complain while getting comfortable.
