Chapter 19: Chapter 18: If Given the Choice, Who Wouldn’t Want to Be a Hero?

Friday's Practical Duel Test

The practical duel test on Friday, a fated duel between Aisha and Ilin, was set to take place.

But before that, there was a small interlude.

Every Thursday, Fusion Academy held its routine Duel Monster summoning class.

Since it shared the same nature as monster summoning, last week's class had been replaced by the midterm summoning test. This week, however, the class resumed as usual.

Of course, there was no grand mana ritual provided by the academy like during the midterm test.

The students had to rely on the basic summoning circle to supply mana and summon their Duel Monster cards.

Though it was just an ordinary weekly class, Aisha was brimming with confidence.

The reason was none other than You Ling's presence.

With You Ling by her side, Aisha felt much more confident about summoning Duel Monsters, something she had once feared the most.

"This time, I definitely won't just summon a weak monster. Watch me, Mr. You Ling!"

The rare sight of Aisha's white ahoge standing upright fully conveyed the girl's determination at this moment.

The final result... Aisha did indeed succeed.

As she had said, she didn't just summon one weak monster.

After two rare summoning lights faded, two blocks of tofu-like Yomi Ship floated in front of Aisha before transforming into Duel Monster cards.

You Ling: "Congratulations, you managed to summon two weak monsters. The good news is that you now have three Yomi Ships. The bad news is that I have no idea what having three of them is supposed to accomplish."

According to Duel Monster rules, a deck can have up to three copies of the same card.

If Aisha wanted, she could indeed fill her deck with three Yomi Ships.

As for what having three of them would achieve, that was a problem for You Ling to figure out.

"Sumimasen (I'm sorry)." Aisha's ahoge slowly drooped.

Perhaps due to the lack of the terrifying mana amplification from the midterm test, most students didn't make any breakthroughs during this summoning class.

Since it was just a routine weekly class, Teacher Erin wasn't surprised. Calmly puffing on her cigarette, she graded the students one by one.

Surprisingly, the student who scored the highest in this summoning class wasn't Kevin Seto, and it certainly wasn't Aisha, who had summoned two blocks of tofu.

Perhaps due to a shift in mindset, Ilin Austin summoned a stronger Duel Monster than she had during the midterm test.

[Elemental HERO Sparkman ★★★★ Light]

[Warrior-Type ATK: 1600 DEF: 1400]

Among 4-star monsters, this one had quite decent attack and defense stats (at least for first-year academy students).

However, what caught You Ling's attention more than the stats was the name "Elemental HERO."

The HERO archetype was a long-standing, popular deck in Yu-Gi-Oh! When You Ling first got into the game, he had considered starting with a HERO deck.

"So you can summon HERO cards in this Elven Continent too."

Like a parent admiring someone else's child, You Ling sighed, then turned his attention back to Aisha, who was idly clashing her two Yomi Ship cards together.

"(o゚▽゚)o Hehe, Tofu Impact!"

"ε=(´ο`*) Sigh..."

"Mr. You Ling, why are you sighing?"

"Nothing, I just had a hiccup."

"Souls can hiccup too?"

"Because you're so... appetizing."

"==?"

If given the choice, who wouldn't want to be a hero?

The Next Day—

Due to the shocking events of last week's first-year practical test, this week attracted quite a few second-year students to come and watch.

As for who they were here to see, it went without saying.

The first-year underdog, Aisha Yuna Carlos, had defeated Kevin Seto. Was it a coincidence, or was it due to her true strength?

Most people couldn't resist their curiosity and wanted to see another duel from Aisha.

Interestingly, Ilena had secretly set up a betting pool, wagering on the outcome of Aisha's duel.

Since most second-year students bet on her losing, the odds of Aisha winning were terrifyingly high.

This also indicated that most people believed Aisha's victory over Kevin was due to luck.

She had been completely suppressed by Kevin but used Card Trader to swap out the Red-Eyes Black Dragon, then pulled off a one-turn reversal.

If this wasn't a coincidence but a carefully planned strategy, it would be absolutely terrifying.

It must have just been good luck.

Dioroski's Psychology—most people tend to deny facts that are beyond their comprehension.

"Little Ai, you've become quite popular recently. You've gained a lot of fans."

On the duel field, Ilin glanced at the bustling crowd around them and teased with a smile.

"Lin-chan, are you sure those people aren't here to laugh at me?"

"Even if they're here for comedy, it's still a sign of popularity. Why not take this chance to debut as a comedian?"

"No way!" Aisha firmly refused. "Let's just focus on the duel, Lin-chan."

"Oh? A serious duel, huh..."

Hearing this, Ilin's smile faded, and her wandering gaze sharpened as her expression grew serious.

"Little Ai, you don't actually think you can beat me, do you? That's pretty bold of you, little girl. You've never won against me, not even once, pfft!"

"Bringing up past victories is a sign of cowardice. The outcome will only be known after the duel."

This kind of statement was completely unlike Aisha's usual personality. Without a doubt, You Ling had just taken control of Aisha's body through the Millennium Puzzle.

Ilin thought to herself, "Here it is again. It's like she becomes a completely different person during duels. There's definitely something strange about Little Ai... Since it just so happens to be my turn to duel her in the practical test, this is my chance! I have to use this duel to figure something out."

As she thought this, Ilin lifted her skirt slightly and took out her custom deck from the card holder strapped to her slender, fair thigh.

You Ling's assessment remained the same: this trend of strapping card holders to thighs was indeed quite... suggestive.

Especially when watching a beauty like Ilin lift her skirt to retrieve her deck up close. It was a completely different feeling compared to when he controlled Aisha's body to do the same.

Aisha: "== Mr. You Ling, the duel is about to start... Can you stop staring at Lin-chan's thighs and focus?"

"Ahem!"

You Ling almost forgot that even when he swapped control of the body, their vision was still shared.

"Spirit Eye, deck set!"

Aisha Yuna Carlos LP: 2000

VS

Ilin Austin LP: 2000

Duel——!

The Spirit Eye on Aisha's arm lit up first, indicating that she would take the first turn.

"I summon 1 monster in face-down defense position and set 1 card in the spell/trap zone. Turn end."

Using his usual defensive opening, You Ling, now familiar with the card-slinging style of dueling in the Elven Continent, ended his first turn in just 5 seconds.

"After defeating Kevin, Little Ai must have added quite a few spell cards to her deck. I'm looking forward to it. My turn, draw!"

Starting her turn, Ilin flicked a hero card onto the field with her fingertips.

"I summon Elemental HERO Poison Rose in attack position!"
