Somewhere in Moldavia. A territory owned by werewolves.
Lelouch walked slowly towards a clearing in the middle of the forest. There was no hurry, and he wouldn't have been in a hurry anyway. And now all the more so, because it was HIM who was called to negotiate, not him.
He came to the edge of the forest. There's a barrier, the origin of which even Lelouch doesn't know, unless he activates Gias. And he didn't want to shine a light on it...yet. Who could be lurking in the shadows of the trees?
Lelouch knew why his current interlocutor had chosen this particular place. The eternal war between vampires and werewolves had been going on for over a thousand years. That was why they called it 'Eternal'. Probably from the very beginning of their existence, they started feuding and still fight.
And a lot of the factions benefit from that fight. After all, werewolves and vampires are strong races that keep many secrets of their unusual Power. Blood magic, the Spiritual Power they draw from within themselves, their incredible physical strength, and other things are the factors that make everyone want this fight to continue.
Probably, today's initiator of the meeting had decided to personally check out the situation in this region.
Lelouch took two steps towards the edge of the forest that was illuminated by the moon. Lamperouge immediately sensed a barrier had been placed in the clearing that completely cut off any creature from the magical world.
Lelouch was even slightly taken aback by this level of barrier. He, if memory served him correctly, had never seen one of these before. Another of the Fallen One's designs? Surely...
A demonstration of your skills in magic? Are you trying to warn your opponent right off the bat? Or are you just afraid of me because you don't know how to act against me? I hope I get some answers to some of my questions...''
Lelouch stopped. He didn't somehow look around for ways to retreat. Lamperouge could sense how strongly the barrier was infused with the Fallen One's energy. And if Lelouch needed to leave during the negotiations due to...certain circumstances, he would have to demonstrate his Power....
Out of the shadows of the trees came...no, it wasn't a man.
He was dressed in a dark purple cloak with a long collar that revealed part of the man's chest and neck. He was also wearing grey trousers and black shoes.
What Lelouch noticed immediately was the unusual colouring of his hair.
The fringes were a bright golden rich colour and the rest of his thick hair was black. He also had a short black beard, which, as Fallen himself liked to put it, 'emphasised his masculinity'.
The man was now unusually serious and sombre. Usually he appeared to everyone in the image of a jolly man, who did not care much about the problems around him. But the Fallen One seemed to have realised that such games would not work with Lelouch, so he immediately adopted a serious expression.
He carefully concealed his Aura, but even so, Lelouch could feel it. And it was strong...very strong....
Governor Grigori, Ruler of the Fallen, Azazel. We've finally met in person.
- The weather is unusually calm today for this time of year,' Azazel said as he stood five metres away from Lelouch.
- Yeah, I noticed that too,' he started the conversation with his trademark slightly cheeky smile that had annoyed his opponents on more than one occasion. - A sign?
- I stopped believing in such things a long time ago,' Azazel replied sadly and snapped his fingers.
The ground beside him bubbled and gradually began to turn into a sort of chair. Azazel immediately sat down on it and put one leg over the other.
- You sit down too, Lelouch,' he waved his hand, and a chair exactly like Azazel's appeared beside Lamperouge.
- Thank you,' Sure enough, it had a couple of spells on it, which Azazel assumed should hold Lelouch.
Lamperouge had noticed that...
- Where do we start, Azazel? - Lelouch decided not to be familiar, assuming the same sitting position as Azazel.
- Unrest,' his voice sounded unusually quiet, but Lelouch heard it clearly. - It's a troubled world, Lelouch. For centuries now it has been growing....
- God is dead,' Lelouch interrupted the Fallen One, 'That is not surprising. Our world continues to live even after the death of the Biblical world, but it is not eternal, Azazel. You, of all people, should understand that.
- But there are those who think that they will close the world on their own model,' Azazel did not react to Lelouch's words, continuing to stare at the sky, 'They see only bad in everything around them. And such reactionaries are usually the ones who unleash all the conflicts in the world. It is such creatures who are the founders of any disagreement with the world,' he looked at Lelouch with his purple inhuman eyes. - And it is one such reactionary who is in front of me...''
Lelouch kept his smile and continued to stare directly into the eyes of the Fallen One. His gaze was heavy. Still, the Fallen One had been through more than one war before Lelouch was born and reborn in this world.
- But you don't fit that criteria, Lelouch,' he dropped his foot to the ground and got into a more comfortable position, 'You could have become Lord of Hell long ago, which would have given you and your minions more power to continue your subversive actions - you didn't. You could have killed the Lords of Hell long ago to start a new Civil War in Hell - you didn't. You could have taken some more global action long ago - you again didn't do anything about it.
Lelouch squinted slightly as he listened to Azazel's conclusions.
- And that raises two questions,' Azazel continued, looking only at Lelouch. - Either you're putting all your energies into fighting this evil, or you're preparing for something bigger, more serious, something that will affect the entire world, not just the magical world, but the human world as well....
- You overestimate my capabilities, Azazel,' Lelouch's voice didn't waver, he kept the same expression on his face, 'I wouldn't be able to overpower the Lords of Hell, Sazex is at the top....
- Back then, at the Battle of Lilith, there was a one-time demonstration of Sazex's Power. But he will not be able to do such a thing again, for his body simply cannot withstand the power of the Source of Destruction Force he absorbed. And you know it too, Lamperouge,' Azazel said, his purple eyes looking straight into his soul.
- I guessed,' Lelouch surmised that Sazex had absorbed some sort of magical ore, for the power of the King's Figure could not embody what Sazex had demonstrated with Lilith, 'I am not interested in the games of these children who spend one hundred years trying to subdue a few Pillars.
- Exactly, you're not interested,' Azazel continued. - Anyone would be interested in Power, with which they can realise their goals. Even if someone says it doesn't interest him, he's lying. Once again the question is raised, Lamperouge. Either you're a fool, or you're hiding your motives, wanting to gain far greater power than that of the Lord of Hell...
I seriously underestimated you, Azazel. Your influence in the human world, your analytical skills - that makes you truly powerful...
- I want to create a better future for my family, for my Clan, and for my future descendants,' he placed his hands on the arms of the artificial chair, 'And I don't care what obstacles stand in my way, I will simply destroy them.
Azazel fell silent, looking directly into Lelouch's eyes. A creature of Azazel's stature could tell the difference between lies and truth. They have lived for thousands of years, and they can detect every shade of emotion, not just on their faces, but by the slightest movement of a finger, a muscle, or even the occasional drop of sweat.
- But you're not strong enough,' Azazel said frankly, 'Yes, you are feared. Yes, you are strong. Yes, your Power of Destruction, which you demonstrated hundreds of years ago, inspires fear. Everyone remembers, Lelouch. No one has forgotten. And no one will forget.
Lelouch is tense.
- Even Hades was afraid of that power when your Force reached through the earth to the outlying city of the Underworld,' Azazel narrowed his eyes. - But you can't summon that power again.
A barrier separated the two negotiators from the rest of the world. Their energy was suppressed in that barrier, and neither of them could call for help from the outside.
Azazel even made provisions so that through communication, the Master-Slug Evil Figures would not be able to reach out. But Lelouch has unique Evil Figures. Not like other Demons...
- I've been studying magic for more than a hundred years, and just summoning the Power of your Clan - the Power of Destruction - just like that, you wouldn't be able to summon the Power of your Clan again without some... circumstance...
Azazel noticed Lelouch's darkening, shifting eyebrows.
- But you wouldn't be able to use it all the time. Demon ancestral magic awakens within thirty years of birth. You couldn't awaken the Power of Destruction during that time, so you can't use it all the time,' Azazel dropped his childish tone from the beginning of their conversation and spoke seriously to Lelouch. - You may continue to intimidate others with your Power, blackmail them, but it's all just false. Yes, Lelouch Lamperouge, a fake Superdemon?
Lelouch didn't show the slightest bit of surprise. He mentally processed this information and smirked to himself. Lelouch, smiling cheekily, said:
- And what are you going to do, Azazel? - Lamperouge smirked, 'Go against me? Will you tell everyone what a liar and manipulator I am? But... - Lelouch hesitated. - No...you won't. You won't do anything. Even with such a strong argument, you continue to fear me. The power that lurks in the shadows. You fear the power that could consume the creature at any moment. You fear the unknown, Azazel. And that's why you strive to constantly grasp it....
Azazel's face was unperturbed, but Lelouch saw the Fallen One squint slightly. He was so easy to figure out...
- If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it a long time ago. The day Cockabiel killed that Fenex girl you're so protective of...
- You wouldn't have gotten away with it,' Lelouch barely contained his grin, 'You wouldn't have killed me, Azazel. I would have found you, ripped out your fucking heart and stuffed it in your mouth so you could savour the taste of your own organ. I'd heal you constantly, you wouldn't just die, you filthy crow....
Azazel took Lelouch's outburst of anger calmly. Outwardly, he didn't react in any way, but inwardly....
Lelouch's lilac eyes glittered dangerously in the darkness, and there was a barely restrained terrifying grin on his face. But the Fallen One wasn't afraid, or just didn't look it.
- I'm not sure,' Azazel smirked, 'But you can take it any way you want.
Lelouch didn't react to that either. He relaxed a little.
- How many years have we been using each other to get things done? - Azazel asked.
- Ever since the day Rizevim destroyed the army you brought into the Underworld during the Civil War.
- Yes,' the Fallen One stretched out, 'But I didn't come here to remember the past.
- Did you? - Lelouch arched an eyebrow, 'That's all you've been doing all this time. You can correct me if I'm wrong.
- There's a threat in this world that's bothering us both,' Azazel ignored Lelouch's words, 'The Chaos Brigade may not be openly active right now, but the organisation is still growing with strong beings who could play an important role in the future.
- No doubt,' Lelouch confirmed, 'But you haven't forgotten about the....
- The Trefbat organisation, I know,' Azazel interrupted Lelouch, 'It's a very ancient name. It was the first language that the Biblical God created. And from the language of the ancients, it translates as....
Azazel paused for a moment.
- World order,' Azazel said after a short pause.
Lelouch wasn't particularly surprised by this, but outwardly chose to show it.
- Fanatics who want to rule the world? - Lelouch asked a silly question, not showing that he knew about this organisation.
- Not really, - Lamperouge did not deny and wondered at the stupid question, - I have a spy there who reports to me the affairs of their...organisation. - Azazel said with irony.
Lelouch continued to listen...
- The organisation accepts everyone, but they are carefully checked with mental magic, so no one remembers being interrogated. But why he wasn't killed or interrogated then, it's very strange....
- And you're telling me all this now? - Lelouch snorted, 'This is the first time we've met in person, and you're already telling me about your secret connections. Isn't that silly, Azazel?
- Maybe, maybe not. I won't know that until I see for myself what you do after you get this information. I'm just sharing the data with my new ally,' Azazel shrugged.
- So you want to join forces against the Chaos Brigade and the Trefbat?
- You voiced one of your goals to me yourself, mine is roughly similar. It just so happens that some of our goals are the same, so I propose to unite against a common threat.
Lelouch was silent for a moment. He had assumed Azazel would offer him an alliance, but he didn't know exactly against whom. And now...
- I agree,' Lelouch stood up from his chair, 'To achieve a goal, we cross all barriers to realise our exceptionalism. Isn't that right, Azazel? - Lamperouge turned around and headed for the exit of the barrier.
- I'm not finished yet,' Azazel said, still in his chair, 'I would like to discuss the conflict between vampires and werewolves with my new ally.
Lelouch paused. He channelled energy through the spiritual channel to his Figura, who was hiding with his squad somewhere in the shadows.....
Lelouch slowly began to turn around.
- Azazel,' Lamperouge half turned around, looking at the Fallen One with his side vision, 'To be true allies, we must understand each other. We must see an ally as an equal to ourselves. But you don't see me that way, Azazel,' Lamperouge grinned, 'Now I'm going to have to show you... The Force...
Dozens of huge tentacle-like bundles burst from Lelouch's body and immediately struck the barrier behind Lamperouge's back.
Azazel watched in horror as his barrier began to crack under Lelouch's power. A dark scarlet Aura began to emerge from Lelouch, gradually descending into the clearing.
Azazel witnessed another miracle that he had not seen in his long life. He had seen a similar miracle when he found an unknown creature that devoured absolutely any kind of energy...
The barrier dissolved. Lelouch turned entirely towards Azazel, maintaining his savage grin.
- I don't need the Power of Destruction to overpower you, Azazel. An alliance is a great idea. If you dare to go against me...' his Aura literally made absolutely every living thing bow. Even the trees, the grass, the flowers began to bow before him, -You will die...
- I can tell you the same thing, Lelouch,' Azazel's Aura flared up, cleansing everything around him of the alien Force, 'I'll meet you later....
- I will, Azazel,' Lelouch disappeared without activating the teleportation circle.
There were sounds of fighting, snarls and cries of pain. You could feel the magic everywhere, it literally enveloped this hill....
The forces of Lelouch and Azazel clashed in a terrible struggle. And judging by what the Fallen One felt, he knew how this battle would end.
Unfortunately, not with Azazel's victory. He had seriously underestimated the proud boy Lamperouge.
Well, I've grown old. I look down on everyone now, like that old man....
But that wasn't even what alarmed Azazel.
The Fallen One stared up into the sky with open eyes.
Somewhere out there, very far away, bright stars were descending to earth....
Which were not stars at all, but nuclear warheads.....
The first use of atomic weapons in Europe. And the world. The magical creatures couldn't hide the atom from humans.
They couldn't.

- Damn you, demons. Damn you, fallen ones. Damn all the magical creatures of the world,' Issei repeated to himself as he dragged the huge bags up the mountain.
His own words gave him strength and the realisation that his life was now completely changed. He had acted too recklessly when he had come to Rias after the incident in the Church, for which he had almost paid with his life. And as much as the guy didn't want to admit it, he owed it to Hayato, who walked in front of him with nothing.
Issei immediately felt better when he saw that he wasn't the only one carrying such a heavy load. And it was especially pleasant when he looked at the suffering Rias, who was not neglected either....
The weather was fine today, so everyone was dressed in light tracksuits. But even so, sweat was pouring down from all of Rias' entourage as they climbed up the mountain. Issei would have gladly stayed behind the beauties to look at their gorgeous hemispheres with every step up, if it weren't for one 'but'...
He hated demons. Now he did, now he knew their vile nature, and he'd never fall for it again.
I TOLD YOU, PARTNER. WHAT YOU SAID TO ME THE OTHER DAY! THEY'RE NOT LIKE THAT. THEY'RE NOT LIKE THAT. FUCK YOU. YOU SHOULD'VE GOT THE HELL OUT OF HERE, DUMMY!
I know I was wrong. I'm sick of being told that all the time. As weird as it sounds, I think I've grown up.
YOU PROBABLY DON'T REMEMBER. BUT I PUT YOU IN A DREAM THAT REPLAYED ALL THE BAD MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE, WHERE YOU OVERCAME THEM. YOU'VE CONQUERED ALL YOUR WORRIES AND FEARS, PARTNER, SINCE YOU'VE CHANGED SO MUCH!
I see, thank you, Ddraig....
YOU'RE WELCOME, WE'RE PARTNERS. OR AS A FORMER OWNER OF MINE USED TO SAY: YOU AND I ARE IN THE SAME BOAT!
That's right.
- You're only halfway through and you're already tired? You've had a lot of training,' Rei said disappointedly, flying above the demons by levitation.
Elias flew beside him. Two acrobat-brothers together again, ready to perform feats in the name of humanity. No, not in the name of mankind.
- You'd better try it yourself instead of scratching your tongue,' Rias hissed, gripping the huge bag on her back.
- I'd love to, but I don't think you'd be too happy about your embarrassment. So just accept your fate for the week, Gremory,' Reyas grinned, not even looking in her direction.
Rias's entourage glared angrily in Hayato's direction, though they too had a load to carry since they were also part of the training, but they hated to see the Mistress in such a pathetic position. Also, they couldn't stand the mockery, even from a human. What can one do, the pride of demons is such.....
- For some reason, no one in Sitri's entourage whined or talked too much,' Elias decided to join the fray, as always with a chupa-chupa in his mouth, 'They're obviously smarter than you are.
Now everyone glared at Elias, but said nothing. Rias's entourage continued to climb to the top with red faces. Rei and Elias were even a little surprised at the reaction, obviously expecting the usual shouting, cursing, sending them away, but no.
Rias' entire entourage was angry, except for Akeno, who was just smiling contentedly, but hiding it carefully.
Issei walks forwards with all his might, clenching his teeth. His legs have already started to buckle, and the nasty voice of reason is screaming to stop and fall to the ground. But Hyodo keeps going.
And after a while, the entire retinue of Rias stares in amazement at the back of the boy who has recently become a Pawn. Even after outrunning all of his 'mates' in the retinue, he increases his pace.
Never mind the pain, never mind the fatigue, never mind the hot weather, never mind everything. There is only a goal - to prove that you are not just a Pawn, but something more than an ordinary figure from the masses.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Rei along with Elias stare in surprise at the newly awakened guy who had created a huge gap from Rias and the others.
Issei was lying on the ground tiredly, but only Rei and Elias saw the guy smiling contentedly. The friends smiled as well. It was nice to see that another piece on his chessboard had begun its short journey.
As Rias and the others fell to the ground tiredly, dropping their bags, Elias looked at the stopwatch.
- Is this your level, Gremory? - Your newly awakened servant, a pervert who's had little exercise his whole life, beat you by thirty-four seconds.
- Shut up,' Rias hissed angrily, trying to stand up, but her trembling legs wouldn't allow it.
- The truth isn't so sweet, is it, Gremory? - Be prepared for me not to suck up to you just because you're Lucifer's sister.
Rias gave Rei a confused look. Hayato knew where to press in the event of a conversation. Sometimes Rias got the feeling that Rei knew her much better than she knew herself....
- But you've surprised me in one way,' Rei said suddenly, catching the others' attention, 'This villa is the perfect place for training.
- Sure it is,' Rias grinned, standing up abruptly from the ground. Where did the strength come from? - I've chosen a place like this so that we can all do our best while enjoying ourselves.
Rei grinned.
- Okay,' he scrunched up his nose, 'your trainers have arrived.
- Trainers? - Kiba, who was dressed in a dark blue tracksuit, questioned. Rias' entire entourage wore similar suits, and the way it looked on girls with bulging roundness....
It was a shame Issei was no longer on the true path, the past he would have drooled at the mere sight of these beauties.
Oh, and Koneko was surprisingly more emotional today than usual. Her costume was a bit baggy for her, but that didn't stop her from moving more nimbly than the others. Although she could easily pass the stage with those bags, as she was already physically incredibly strong, but Rias had given orders not to use her Powers, to achieve without the help of energy.
However, Gremory had already regretted that order a hundred times....
- Yes,' Elias replied, 'One is not enough for two retinues of Highs, so I came...
Elias hesitated. He interrupted just in time, for he would have said a little more.
- Elias's grandfather is here,' Elias was ready to grab his gun and shoot his idiot friend.
Everyone went into a slight stupor.
- Elias's grandfather? - Issei scratched the back of his head, interrupting the oppressive silence, 'Isn't he too old to train us? He'll break his back while....
- You'll break it now,' Elias' cold voice made Issei goosebumps and shut up, 'Good for you, you know how to take information correctly. Your father won't coddle you just because you're a carrier of the Valyan Dragon. No, you'll have a special programme,' Elias' smile made not only Hyodo uncomfortable.
- Okay, okay, that's enough,' Rei patted his friend's shoulder, 'Come on, Gremory, lead the way.
And no one paid attention to what Elias called the coach....
Gremory stood there with a frown after her servant started making threats. But decided not to say anything, swishing her gorgeous hair she walked towards the huge building that would be everyone's accommodation for the whole week.
The villa was huge, indeed, as was the surrounding area. Words could not describe how those who were here for the first time, Kiba, Koneko, Issei, felt.
No sooner had Rias' entourage and the Coalition members moved closer to the villa than the circle of the Sitri family lit up not far from them.
- 'Hello Sona,' Rias decided to be the first to greet as she looked at her friend. She was in her Kuo Academy uniform, as was her Queen, who was standing with her.
- Hi, Rias,' Sona nodded, adjusting her glasses, 'I didn't think you'd agree to train here.
- Can you offer me another place? - Rias arched an eyebrow, crossing her arms across her chest.
- No,' Sona answered immediately, "It's just unusual to see you...like this," Sona grinned slightly.
- Hm!' Rias said, turning away from her friend.
- I'm glad you've decided to let go of your officiousness and falseness, which annoyed me,' all eyes now shifted to Rey, 'But we don't have much time, we have to train.
- Training won't get us anywhere,' Reyas began to speak less formally and less... defiantly.
- But time will, Gremory. And time is all you have right now,' Hayato cut off, walking past Sona and heading towards a clearing not far from the villa.
While everyone was talking, Elias had already teleported into the clearing to warn of the imminent arrival of new guests.
- It's almost World War III in Europe, and you're just scratching your heads. Let's go! Let's train! - Issei didn't even look at Rias and followed the Coalition members.
- Hmph!' Rias grinned again and followed Hayato.
The servants looked at each other perplexed. Even the nonchalant Koneko showed a slight look of surprise. Had a quick engagement changed Rias's character? It was naive to assume that it had happened that way right away, but Rias' servants even smiled at that.
Even Akeno.
Rias's entourage arrived at the training glade. There were already various dumbbells, kettlebells, even tourniquets and bars. Rias remembered that they hadn't been here before....
Rias looked towards Issei. He wasn't paying any attention to her at all, though she had previously planned to use his twisted nature to her advantage. That, however, was what she had paid for.
Gremory clenched her fists. This week was the perfect opportunity to prove that she wasn't just Gremory, but Rias. And she'd go all out to show her rebellious servant her resolve.
- If you can't control the Ddraig bearer, your brother will have him killed. And nothing can stop him from doing so...
Yes, she will. So he'll save her from her engagement and she'll save his life in return.
A large circle of the Sitri family appeared near Rias. She took a couple of steps back and saw the silhouettes in the magical teleportation circle. Sona's entire entourage along with Sona herself had arrived.
- Well, they've finally arrived. I'm getting tired of waiting,' came a male and disgruntled voice from somewhere above.
No sooner had everyone greeted each other than the demons turned their attention to the sound. All heads turned to the tree, on the branch of which a man of incredible size was sitting. At least, that's how it seemed from afar.
He wasn't wearing any outer clothing, which showed off his muscular and powerful body. Not a single hint of fat, only muscles filled every cell of his body.
From his underclothes he wore torn trousers and sandals - they were brown in colour. Was he even human? Could a man even have such a mountain of muscle?
His short brown hair, just like his muscles, glistened in the sun, and his bright blue eyes looked down at the gathered demons.
- Is that Elias's grandfather? - Issei's shocked voice broke the silence.
Rias sighed. Yes, and she herself hadn't expected to see such an...impressive man.
- 'Ha ha, no, kid,' the man laughed briefly, 'Eitmore is looking at you right now somewhere...' he looked around, turning his head one way, the other, 'Somewhere over there,' the man waved his hand carelessly towards the trees.
- Hehehe, how nice,' Issei laughed nervously, starting to scratch his head intensely.
- So, I'll tell you right away, demonettes. To know my name, you must earn it. And you can earn it during this week,' he looked at each of them carefully with his bright blue eyes.
Some frowned unhappily, some snorted faintly, and some looked at their trainer with a smile.
The man looked at Sona's entourage.
- Training hasn't even started and you've already received a minus one point,' he looked at Sona, 'I told you all to come in your tracksuits.
- I will...
- I don't care what you want, Sitri,' the man cut her off, 'You agreed to be a part of the training process, and therefore, according to the contract, you have to fulfil my demands.
- Я...
- You are healthy and well, so you have to fulfil all my requirements.
It was only now that Rias noticed that Rey and Elias were nowhere to be found. Checking up on them? A test like that would be a big blow to a demon's pride. Rias only realised that now.
Sona was already red-faced, clenching her fists and glaring at the man.
- How could you...
- And if you're not compliant, then,' the half-naked man was beside Sona in a split second and slapped her across the face.
Sitri tried to spread her wings, but she hit the ground and rolled in an unknown direction on the ground. Her uniform was torn in some places, exposing part of her slender body.
- Mistress!' exclaimed Tsubaki and immediately teleported to Sonya, 'Attention, everyone to your positions! Building number three!
The entire entourage immediately got into battle stances, standing in a sort of semicircle near Sona, with Tomoe standing in the centre of the formation, holding her katana out in front of her.
- Not bad, not bad at all. I didn't expect such coherence, - satisfaction flashed in the man's eyes, and his face was imperturbable, - But it's not enough....
A bright blue Aura began to form around the coach, which was so bright that some of Rias' retinue, who were standing not far away, had to squeeze their eyes shut.
With each passing second, the Aura grew larger, more powerful, and denser. The nameless man's face gradually crossed with a joyful grin. What he was rejoicing about, only he himself knew.
- Touki! - Koneko's large eyes widened. She was the only one out of everyone to notice the unusual energy the man was using.
- Touki?! - Rias interjected, looking at Koneko.
The Nekomata with a shocked face only looked at the man whose Aura was getting bigger and bigger.
- How much training did he have to do to achieve such power? - Koneko muttered to herself, but she was heard by Gremory's entire entourage.
- Can you be more specific?! What is this touki of yours? - Issei decided to cut in on their conversation.
Kiba didn't know what this energy was either, but decided to keep silent and wait for a more...convenient moment.
- Later, Issei. I'll tell you everything, but right now we need to save Sona,' Rias said, pointing towards Sitri's retinue, where everyone was already ready to attack.
Nameless grinned contentedly.
- You guys have already made a grave mistake. Letting me concentrate,' the gusts of wind from the man's Aura made almost all of Sitri's entourage recoil, 'I'm afraid you're going to regret it.
And the nameless man raised his right foot and...stomped.
The ground shook so violently that all the demons fell on their heels.
- Let's begin!
***
On a small hill on the battlefield stood a young man with aristocratic features. His gait, appearance, demeanour, movements - a true aristocrat, one didn't even need to argue.
He was dressed in silver massive armour that completely covered him from any shots. Though he would soon be taking it off to get into the robot, it looked just perfect on him.
His short brown hair fluttered in the wind, lightly touching his wheat coloured eyes. On his belt was a massive sword - he would take it off too - and on his back was a cloak with the coat of arms of the Scottish Kingdom.
More recently, this young man had been handed power - he had seized it - and had rallied all the people of Scotland to fight against the brazen invaders and liars who called themselves descendants of the great Arthur Pendragon - in fact, that was the way it was.
Mortis had learnt military science from an early age and knew that the best strategy in any war was not world regulation but forceful confrontation. If a country joined another world, those would establish a simple civilian government there, unable to fight guerrillas and saboteurs.
If a country joined another by war, the victorious country would establish such an oversight there that guerrilla forces would be afraid to just climb out of their Burrows. At least, that was what he had been taught - and that was what he himself believed. He was in complete agreement with the views and methods of his teacher, who had recently fallen in battle, defending Mortis to his last breath....
A tear traitorously fell from Mortis' eyes, but he immediately brushed it away.
According to the Great God-Emperor's plan, a civil war was simply inevitable. And Mortis was in agreement with that. By wiping out most of the population of Scotland, they would save the British Empire from total collapse and bring peace and quiet to the North of England forever. And Mortis...will just die for everyone - but will continue to defend Britain from the shadows. As His Imperial Majesty's chief executioner, Arthur Pendragon.....
- Your Majesty, everything is ready, - a pleasant female voice sounded behind Mortis' back - it was his personal maid, and she could also be considered a travelling mistress...
A white and blue military uniform with golden epaulettes with a black skirt and long leather boots of the same colour. Her black hair is braided into a single braid that falls down her back.
- Thank you Henri,' Mortis thanked her without turning round to look at her, 'Is Kimimaro here yet?
- Yes, he arrived about ten minutes ago. He told me to tell you he's waiting for you.
- Hmm, he doesn't change,' Mortis hummed, taking one last look at the field, 'Let's go.
Henri walked over to her King and activated a teleportation circle that transported them both to the war machines.
Standing beside Mortis's huge white fighting machine was another similar machine, but smaller. In the open cockpit sat Kimimaro. He was dressed as usual: the same white shirt, the same purple bow belt, the same trousers. Basically, he doesn't change himself.
Kaguya greeted him with a slight nod, and Mortis returned the favour.
- How long have you been Knightmare's driver? - Mortis asked ironically, as he knew that Kimimaro never liked those things - he was better with his swords.
- About five days ago,' Kaguya replied in all seriousness, not seeming to realise Mortis was joking, 'It would be strange on the battlefield if some man was destroying huge Knightmasters.
- Heh, that's true,' Mortis said, taking off his armour and handing it to Henri.
As Mortis prepared to board the Knightmere, Kimimaro pondered on his own. The Scottish King saw the state of his current battlemate and decided to ask:
- Is something wrong? - Mortis had always found Kimimaro always serious and collected on missions - would anything distract him now?
- Tell me, Mortis,' Kaguya suddenly addressed him by name, 'Are you doing everything right?
Mortis looked at him in surprise, then let go of Henri, and she immediately disappeared into the teleportation circle.
- It would have happened sooner or later,' Mortis decided to answer him seriously, 'There is no other choice. If there was, I would use it.
- And you would go against His Divine Majesty?
- I think he at least listened to my idea - and then we'll see,' Mortis began to close the Knightmare cabin, continuing to communicate with Kimimaro through the microphone.
Kimimaro fell silent once more. Mortis considered this to be the end of the conversation, so he immediately announced over the microphone:
- Henri, declare full alert!
- Yes, sir!
***
- Please...live, Your Majesty,' Henri wheezed to her King on her last breath and closed her eyes for good.
Henri's wish would probably not have been able to come true, as he had lost his leg and Knightmare was hit and a hundred metres away.
He looked at Henri one last time. Mortis was no longer crying. He had already cried all his tears, leaving his mistress on the battlefield. The earth itself would bury her...
But there was another question - who had hit them?
The attack was from the back, and apart from the allies and Mortis' main army, there was no one there. So there must be a traitor in their ranks. But who? And most importantly, why? This whole battle had been planned by him, Arthur and the God-Emperor - so who had attacked him and Henri.
Mortis abstracted himself from the world. He could not hear the clanking of the Knightmasters, the cries of pain and loss - he still had to sort himself out before he could go into battle again. Kimimaro would be here soon, he must help him and....
There he is.
Except Kimimaro found himself beside him without Knightmere, but in his own clothes.
- Kimimaro, finally,' hope settled in Mortis' chest, 'Let's hurry...
A sharp pain pierced his chest. Mortis slowly looked down and saw there a sharp bone coming from Henri's body. Isn't that...
- Kimimaro? - Mortis spat out his blood, -But...how...why did you....
- I know a way to stop this senseless war in another way, - said Kimimaro, and Mortis remembered their last conversation, - With your death, the people of Scotland will lose faith, hope and they will have to surrender to the mercy of the British Empire. It will only cost the casualties of today's battle, your and Henri's deaths are all it will take....
Mortis already wanted to contradict him, but felt he couldn't...he simply wouldn't have the strength. But he would be able to say a few words...
- You,' he wheezed, "Betrayed him...you...damn you, traitor," he said the first thing that came to his mind on the brink of death.
- No, I did not betray the Master,' Kimimaro countered, 'I only did his job better than he did. I only betrayed his methods. Farewell, King Mortis....
And Mortis closed his eyes forever, never having the chance to tell Kimimaro what he...
- 'The rest is on you,' Kimimaro said into the communications circle.
- 'Yes, yes,' Zekram answered him.
And Kimimaro disappeared from the battlefield, returning to his Knightmare.
He had only wanted to end this war with the minimum number of casualties, and it had turned out...not at all what he had expected. And he himself would soon realise it....
