Chapter 736 - Welcome to Freya’s World
The drive to Freya's place wasn't particularly long—just about two hours. But even so, Leon couldn't help but wonder.
Does Freya make this trip every day to meet me?
It seemed unlikely. After all, Freya often stayed in the hotel, on the same floor as him, and she'd mentioned a few times that she also had a place in the city.
How many places does she have?
That question lingered in his mind as they continued the drive, heading into a hilly area. It wasn't as elevated as the secluded spot where Goldrich lived, but the road leading up to it was surprisingly well-maintained. Smooth pavement, neatly trimmed trees, and well-placed signs made it clear that someone took care of this road regularly—despite how empty it was. They hadn't seen a single other car on the way.
Eventually, they reached a large iron gate. As they approached, the gate opened automatically, without Leon having to confirm his identity.
He glanced at Lily, a bit surprised. "She knows we're coming?"
Lily shook her head. "Alfred knows."
Leon's brow furrowed. "Do you think Alfred is someone sent by the Golden Age Company, or is he actually someone Freya hired herself?"
Lily gave a shrug. "I don't know."
As they drove through the gate, a large white house came into view. It was modern in design, made up of stacked rectangular blocks, giving it a sleek yet elegant appearance.
Leon let out a soft chuckle. "She really is… that rich."
The Northstar EV rolled to a stop in the parking area, where a few people in black suits were already waiting. They were clearly staff—a mix of men and women, all dressed neatly.
As Leon opened the car door and stepped out, one of the men, who appeared to be in his fifties, approached. His demeanor was calm and respectful, with a hint of warmth in his eyes, as if he recognized Leon.
"Welcome, Mr. Leon, Miss Lily," the man greeted with a slight bow. "We've been expecting you."
Leon gave a polite bow in return. "Hi, I'm a friend of Freya. Is it true she lives here?"
The older man smiled warmly. "Yes. Miss Freya is currently staying here. Please, follow me inside."
Lily stepped up beside Leon, giving him a reassuring nod as they both followed the man toward the house.
"We'll take you both inside," the man added as he opened the front door, revealing the house's interior.
The house's design was warm and modern, with an emphasis on natural light. Large windows filled the space with soft sunlight, making the white walls and light wooden floors feel fresh and airy. The furniture was a blend of modern minimalism and cozy touches—a plush gray sofa, earthy tones in the decor, and fresh green plants placed in just the right spots to make the space feel alive.
Everything about the house gave a sense of comfort and tranquility. It wasn't flashy, but there was a subtle elegance in how everything seemed perfectly arranged.
Leon and Lily were led to the main living area, where they were invited to sit on the sofa set in the center of the room.
The older man gave a respectful bow before stepping back. "Please wait here. Someone will be with you shortly."
As they sat down, Leon glanced around, taking in the space.
After some time waiting, someone finally appeared from behind the wall leading to another room.
Leon's face softened into a relieved smile the moment he saw her.
The girl they both knew—Freya—stepped into the living area, her brown hair tied back in a loose ponytail, wearing a simple blue shirt and shorts. But despite her casual appearance, there was something different about her—she looked tired.
Lily stood and waved. "Hi, Freya…"
Leon stood as well.
Freya smiled as she approached, waving back. "You found my house."
Then her gaze shifted to Leon. "What are you doing here?"
"We were worried about you."
Freya let out a light laugh as she sat across from them.
"Worried?" she teased. "That's not like you."
Leon and Lily both sat back down, and Lily quickly took over the conversation. "I heard from Alfred that you were sick." Discover hidden content at My Virtual Library Empire
Freya sighed and leaned back in her chair. "I'm sorry I didn't let you know… That was really irresponsible of me."
Leon shook his head. "Not really. You've been working so hard these past few months. It's no surprise you're exhausted."
Freya gave a faint smile. "Yeah, I guess I needed a break… a long one."
Lily giggled, leaning forward with a teasing look. "You should've seen Leon's panicked face when he heard you were sick, Freya."
Freya's eyes sparkled with amusement as she turned to Leon. "Really? You were that worried?" Her lips curved into a mischievous grin. "And yet, you show up empty-handed? No flowers, no gifts?"
Leon smiled, shaking his head. "Looks like you're already feeling better if you're back to teasing me. Besides, I wasn't here to bring you gifts. I came to put you back to work. Don't misunderstand my panic."
Freya playfully kicked the table leg.
"Ugh, Lily, your brother is terrible. He's going to make me stay sick even longer with comments like that!"
"That's just how Leon is. Don't worry—I'm here to confirm that he really was worried about you."
"Yeah, sure… I believe you. I'm sure the real reason he panicked is because he missed me."
Both girls burst out laughing.
"Glad to see you two are enjoying yourselves, at my expense."
Freya grinned but then tilted her head slightly. "But seriously, Leon… are you really worried about me?"
Leon met her gaze. "Yeah. I just want to make sure you're okay."
Freya leaned back in her chair, exhaling softly. "I'm fine. I've got a private doctor staying here to keep an eye on me, so there's really nothing to worry about."
"A private doctor, huh? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Looking at this place, you really do live like royalty."
"I told you—I'm super rich. You just didn't believe me before."
Leon nodded. "I believed you. I never doubted that."
The conversation between them flowed easily, lighthearted and filled with laughter. But after a while, Leon's attention drifted, his eyes drawn to something across the room.
On the far wall, there were several framed photos displayed. His gaze locked on them, narrowing slightly as a strange feeling stirred inside him.
Without saying a word, Leon stood up. His sudden movement caught both Freya and Lily by surprise, and they turned to watch him.
"Leon?" Freya raised an eyebrow, confused.
But Leon didn't respond immediately. He walked slowly toward the photo wall. His gaze focused on one particular picture—a photo of a young girl standing between two adults, who were clearly her parents. The girl looked no older than five years old, her brown hair tied in loose pigtails.
Leon's mind raced as he stared at the photo. It wasn't the adults that caught his attention—it was the girl in the middle.
There was something strangely familiar about her. That face… those eyes…
It reminded him of someone.
"Leon?" Lily's voice broke through his thoughts.
Leon turned to face them. "Freya… is this girl in the photo… you?"
