Legend of a demon god

Chapter 4: RE-AWAKENING

" Am I dead?? ....huh??...why is it so dark ??.....is this the afterlife ??" All this questions of confusion kept ringing in Ryu's head that he didn't even notice the glowing eyes watching him in the dark.

" I guess I'm a failure through and through...sigh..."

He sighed dejectedly as he recalled what happened a few hours ago, he could have just handed the bell to them but how could he do that knowing fully well that his only family thats left close to him was at stake?

And given the bell away wouldn't that mean the sacrifice his mother made was useless? His mother had gone through so much bringing them up, he could still remember nights when she stayed up just to make sure they were protected in the dangerous environment.

He could still vividly remember each and every single moment his mother sold herself to slavery just so her children will live a much better life, his mother made sure to drill the art of protecting his sister at all cost into his very bones, he was taught that his sister is his first priority and his life came second, it sounded cruel but Ryu enjoy every single moment of being his sister's shield, he felt happy at the thought of just showing his.mother that he could atleast shoulder a little bit of their responsibility, his sister even though she was born and brought up in the slums didn't look like one from the slums, she was a very delicate beauty that will topple many cities just with her looks.

"....at the end I still failed....sigh". Another sigh of depression drifted from his mouth but it was at this moment he realised something, he could feel a stinging pain at the back of his head, he had just heaved his chest up and down while sighing which brought the awareness of his body to his notice.

" ...what the hell??!!....I'm still alive?". This whisper came from his mouth as he tried to move for a bit but he realised that he was not too far of from dying. His legs has been crushed to paste, his innards spewn on the hard floor of the valley, a few bones protruded out from his chest, his neck broken, but somehow he was still alive.

He tried to turn his head but it was at this moment his eyes caught the two glowing orbs staring at him. Had he had a body to contain blood at this moment then he would have died of fright for real, but there was no blood that could flow into his brain to give him that deathly shock, but still he was so scared his brain froze for what seemed like forever. And when he finally came to he just signed again in resignment.

"I'm already dead anyway, so what use is my fear of death?" He finally relaxed his head and closed his weak eyes gentle. His breathing became even , gradually getting slower and slower but it was at this moment the eyes staring at him moved.

The wraith could feel all the negative emotions coming from the human remains that laid before it's eyes. It just gained a little bit of sentience after millions of years of drifting about and it was like a curious little child or so it seemed.

It could feel itself being drawn to specific places and regions of the dead valley, it could feel all the agony and darkness flowing through it incorporeal veins, it could hear the wailing of souls that resounded all around the valley, it could relate to the helplessness this souls felt at the moment of death, the regret, the unwillingness, the ambitions, slowly but surely it was absorbing all this from all directions of the valley and it's intelligence kept increase and to each single speckle of increase it could also feel how incomplete it was but right now before it's eyes laid the very thing it needed. A human body with a weak soul that seem to be hanging on desperately to life despite resigning to death.

The wraith moved with impossible speed and vanished into Ryu's chest.

The fog of the valley seemed to concentrate on his body as they rolled even faster in all directions. If one was standing outside the valley , it could be seen that all the fog in the valley seem to be moving towards one point in the centre.

The cultivators that were at the outer perimeters of the valley began to draw closer to take a look at what was going on, the skies seemed to darken in response, lightning began to cackle slowly, it would rumble from time to time like the heavens were about to collapse, the rain drummed down heavily .

Ryu sat up slowly with his eyes closed firmly and a golden bell spinning at breakneck speed right above his head, it shone brightly with golden light that also seemed to look like tendrils that flew in all directions and flowed with wailings and whimpering of ghosts and souls , wraiths and spectres all were being absorbed by the bell and pooring the raw energy right into Ryu.

It took a month before everything started calming and by the time the dark skies will clear up the foggy valley was no more, one could now stand atop the cloud cliff mountains and still see clearly into the valley, as people gathered above the mountains and some approaching the centre at top speed, a gentle wisp of smoke floated away straight to the top of the mountain and back into the streets of the Zietung western gate.

Ryu made his way to his little courtyard, he ran in absentmindedly as he held tight to the bell, he could feel the power rolling within his body, he was finally strong, he finally had what it took to make a name, but in exchange he was no longer the Ryu he once was.

His eyes had lost it's iris, all that could be seen is a deep whirlpool of red that glowed with rimes of gold, his hair was as dark as midnight, flowing down his waist, his face was so beautiful it seemed like it was sculpted by the heavens themselves, but if looked at ,one will even think that it was a real sculpture rather that a living been, his face was frozen, with no particular expression, the only time some changes occurred to his face was when he looked at the bell in his hand.

He stared for long before turning his gaze towards a certain direction, and his gaze loosening up into a warped grin that looked nothing but terrifying.

He took one step and puffed into grey smoke as he floated toward a courtyard that could only be considered luxurious in this slums.

"Boss, a kid just reported that someone entered that house...."

A bulky man could be seen sitting leisurely on a couch with too women sitting by his side as his hand brazenly violated them .

His subordinates listing out reports while he listened half mindedly

He was still furious that he lost a chance to make a huge amount of money due to the actions of one boy.

" Contact sir Gil , he should pay up for us trying else he should forget about the route in the cloud cliff" he ordered dismissively not knowing that his death was rapidly approaching.

Ryu stood outside the courtyard as he silently listened to everything going on , when he heard the name "sir Gil". His foot paused as his fist clenched hard and his body trembled for a few seconds before returning to it's normal frozen state.

He had decided. He was going to turn this courtyard into his!
