Konoha: Uchiha's Two-Way Travel in One Piece

Chapter 57: Skypieans & Shandians

-----

"Ha! Sounds just like something he'd do!

"Don't be fooled by how mature and responsible he acts most of the time—like some little grown-up."

"He has his playful and childish side too," Uchiha Mikoto chuckled at Kushina's rant.

"Guess I'll just have to get used to it," Kushina sighed, reluctantly nodding.

Some habits, she thought, were better left unadopted.

Meanwhile, Kaito noticed his mother had arrived and immediately approached her. "Mom, is everything handled back home?"

"More or less," Uchiha Jiri replied with a confident nod. "It all went smoother than I expected, honestly."

"Everything's set."

"So, I'm planning to head to Skypiea in a few days. What do you think?"

The sooner they mapped out Skypiea, the sooner she could collect the gold and the unique dials found there.

"No objections from me," Kaito said, nodding as he began briefing her on the situation on Skypiea. "Right now, the Skypieans and Shandians should still be at war. Please, be cautious when you get there."

"If possible, it'd be great if you could subdue both sides and act as a mediator to bring peace and make loyal to you."

"They've been fighting over land for hundreds of years now, and it's pointless. Continuing this war will only lead to more casualties without solving anything."

"The island is big enough for both sides to coexist. Of course, convincing them might require finding the Golden Bell..."

Kaito went on to explain the deep-seated grudges between the two factions and the cultural significance of the Golden Bell to the Shandians.

He wasn't planning to go with her—not out of fear, but because he valued life and knew the risk would be reckless at this point.

The Skypieans might be open to negotiation under their leader, Gan Fall, but the Shandians were a different story.

Obsessed with reclaiming Upper Yard, they were single-minded and unreasonable. The only way to deal with them would be to overpower them.

"I understand," Jiri nodded, taking it all in. "Leave it to me."

Kaito still felt uneasy. "Please be careful, Mom. I'm not entirely sure how strong they are compared to shinobi back in the Hidden World, so don't underestimate them."

"Especially since they have a few Devil Fruit users among them."

"If things don't go as planned, you could always avoid direct confrontation for now, scout out the golden city hidden in the clouds, and collect some treasure quietly."

"When we're stronger later, we can deal with them properly."

Jiri smiled warmly, sensing her son's concern. She reached out and patted his head. "Don't worry so much. Your mom knows better than to act recklessly."

"I'll assess the situation and handle things carefully. And don't forget—I've got the teleportation function of the Space Gate. If it comes to it, I can always make a swift exit."

"Alright then, I'm heading out."

With that, Jiri focused her mind, locked onto the location of Jaya Island, and teleported away.

---

Arriving in the forested area behind the pirate town on Jaya Island, Jiri activated her Observation Haki, scanning the entire island with her heightened senses.

Unlike Kaito, she wasn't a child anymore. Her mental and spiritual strength were formidable, and after over a month of training, her mastery of Observation Haki had reached an impressive level.

Her range extended for kilometers, and her precision was equally remarkable, though she had yet to achieve future sight.

As for hearing the Voice of All Things, that was a unique talent unrelated to Haki training.

"Still as chaotic as ever, huh?" Jiri sighed, observing the island's disorderly state.

In some ways, this world was even more chaotic than the shinobi world.

She summoned the ninja hawk, Kuro, from the Space Gate, leaping onto its back and directing it to fly upward.

With a sharp cry, the hawk shot into the sky like an arrow. Within minutes, they had ascended thousands of meters.

At this height, the hawk's speed slowed as the air thinned, but it persevered.

"This must be the White Sea. Looks like we need to go even higher," Jiri muttered, noticing the sea of white clouds.

She couldn't find the Heaven's Gate, likely because her initial position was slightly off.

Regardless, she directed the hawk upward.

After a few more minutes, with the hawk nearly exhausted and breathing heavily, they finally reached the White-White Sea, the true home of Skypiea.

"So that's Upper Yard, the part of Jaya that was blasted into the sky?" Jiri murmured in amazement as she looked at the massive, forested island.

"It's hard to believe something like the Knock-Up Stream could send an entire chunk of land this size into the sky."

The sight defied all logic she had known from the shinobi world.

"Let's land," she instructed.

The hawk descended to the edge of Upper Yard, landing on a large tree. Jiri dismounted, patting the bird's neck. "Good job. You've earned a rest. Go relax for now."

With a flash of light, the hawk returned to the Space Gate.

Jiri took a moment to adjust to the thin air of Skypiea before activating her Observation Haki again and using Body Flicker to head toward the island's center.

Meanwhile, in the heart of Upper Yard, a fierce battle was underway.

"Kill! Take back our homeland!" a Shandian warrior roared.

"Hold the line! Don't let them through!" a Skypiean soldier shouted.

"Those Shandians are insane! Why can't they just sit down and talk?"

"What's there to talk about? This land was a gift from the heavens to us Skypieans! Why should we give it up?"

Both sides were locked in a bloody conflict, though fatalities were rare as the leaders of both factions sought to avoid unnecessary deaths.

Gan Fall, the Skypiean leader and self-proclaimed "God," was reasonable and open to peace.

However, even he couldn't bring himself to kneel before the Shandians or agree to give up the Upper Yard.

The conflict was impossible to resolve. Neither side could convince the other, and neither was willing to back down. The war would just continue endlessly.

Whoosh!

At that moment, Uchiha Jiri suddenly appeared at the edge of the battlefield.

Since she made no effort to hide her presence or movements, she was immediately noticed by both Gan Fall and the Shandian battle leader, Rossi.

The fighting on both sides came to a temporary halt.

Gan Fall turned to look at Uchiha Jiri and said in a low voice, "You must be from the Blue Sea. Why are you here? What's your purpose?"

Rossi, on the other hand, was far less polite. He shouted angrily, "Blue Sea dweller, get out of Upper Yard! This is sacred ground for us Shandians, and you're not welcome here!"

"Eh?"

Even though Jiri had been warned about the Shandians' fiery personalities by her son, Uchiha Kaito, she was still a bit annoyed seeing it firsthand.

She didn't even bother replying. Instead, she decided it'd be easier to beat some sense into them first.

After all, she had already used Observation Haki to assess them. These people weren't her match.

Might as well fight them into submission first.

Whoosh!

With that thought in mind, Uchiha Jiri used her Body Flicker Technique and rushed straight at Rossi.

"Hah! You're courting death!"

Rossi roared, enraged.

He abandoned his fight with Gan Fall and charged directly at Uchiha Jiri.

"Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique!"

As Rossi closed the gap, leaving only a few meters between them, Jiri didn't hesitate. She unleashed her Fire Release jutsu.

A blazing fire dragon roared toward Rossi.

"What the—?!"

Rossi hadn't expected this strange woman to suddenly breathe fire at him. He was caught completely off guard.

Because he was rushing straight at her, and with their combined speeds, there was no time to dodge.

The fire jutsu hit him directly.

"Ahhh!!!"

Engulfed in flames, Rossi let out a blood-curdling scream.

Jiri kept sensing his condition through Observation Haki.

When she felt it was enough, she withdrew her chakra, causing the flames to quickly subside and extinguish.

Moments later, a charred Rossi fell from the sky, landing heavily on the ground.

Though he hadn't lost consciousness, he was in immense pain and completely immobile.

"Rossi!"

"Leader!!!"

The Shandians were horrified. They rushed to Rossi's side, surrounding him protectively and glaring at Uchiha Jiri with hatred.

"Do you still want to fight? If so, come on! I'm ready anytime!"

Jiri ignored their hostile stares and spoke with a light laugh.

But neither the Shandians nor the Sky Islanders made a move.

They had been shaken to the core by how easily Rossi was defeated.

It was clear to them now—this woman was far beyond their ability to handle.

"Who are you, really? And why are you here?"

"I can tell you don't seem to harbor any real hostility toward us," Gan Fall said, breaking the silence.

He didn't want to provoke a strong opponent like Uchiha Jiri if it could be avoided. He had a responsibility to protect his people.

Jiri smiled and replied, "Me? Like you said, I'm from the Blue Sea. My name is Uchiha Jiri."

"I'm here for the City of Gold."

"And, if possible, I'd also like to establish a long-term trade relationship to purchase some of the amazing shellfish you have here."

"What?! The City of Gold?!"

The Shandians' expressions darkened at her words.

Rossi, despite his injuries, struggled to stand with the help of his people. Gritting his teeth, he glared at Jiri and growled, "The City of Gold belongs to the Shandians! It's our ancestral land, and there's no way we'll let you take it!"

"I'll stop you, even if it costs me my life!"

With that, he prepared to attack again.

"Oh? Is that so?"

Jiri's smile didn't waver, but a terrifying aura suddenly erupted from her.

In an instant, a black, semi-transparent skeletal frame of chakra began to form around her.

The structure quickly grew into a towering, hundred-meter-tall chakra giant, radiating an even more terrifying pressure as it loomed over the Sky Island warriors and the Shandians.

Standing at the giant's head, Jiri looked down at them with an indifferent expression. "Are you sure about that?"

"Is she... really human? Or is she some kind of god?"

"H-How is this possible?"

"Can we even fight her?"

The Shandians were frozen in place, overwhelmed by despair as they stared at the colossal figure before them.

There was no way they could win this fight.

Rossi, too, was at a loss for words.

Could he keep spouting tough words?

Probably not—she'd annihilate them all with ease.

If that happened, he wouldn't just be a laughingstock but also the reason his people's finest warriors were wiped out.

He wasn't afraid to die, but what about the Shandians after him?

Most of their fighters were already here, leaving only a few to defend the village.

If they lost, it would be the end of their tribe.

But surrender? That wasn't an option either.

The Shandians were a stubborn people. Surrendering wasn't in their nature.

The atmosphere grew more and more tense.

Jiri sighed inwardly at their obstinacy.

'No wonder Kaito said she'd have to beat them into submission.'

'It really was the only way to deal with them.'

With that thought, she prepared to make her next move.

"Ahem!"

Sensing the growing crisis, Gan Fall quickly stepped forward, coughing to break the tension. He addressed Jiri, "Lady Uchiha Jiri, I am Gan Fall, leader of the Sky Islanders. May I have a word with you?"

While he wasn't particularly fond of the Shandians, he couldn't stand by and watch them get slaughtered.

The two sides had fought for so long that they were practically frenemies at this point.

And Jiri was an outsider. Who was to say she wouldn't turn on the Sky Islanders after dealing with the Shandians?

"Oh?"

Jiri raised an eyebrow and looked at Gan Fall. "Go ahead."

If possible, she preferred to resolve things peacefully.

After all, she wanted to establish a long-term trade agreement with the Sky Islanders.
