Kingdom: The Black Moon Assassin

Chapter 121: Current Problems (1)

Jun opened his eyes as a sharp pain coursed through his entire body.

The first thing he saw was a familiar ceiling: the ceiling of his own room in the temple within the assassins' territory.

Then, as his senses gradually returned, he felt a presence beside him, and turning his head, he saw a man with white hair staring at him, along with several other figures who appeared ordinary.

Jun spat to his feet.

Even if they hadn't harmed him yet, he recalled that when he joined the battle, he had begun massacring enemy soldiers without any remorse.

There was a moment of tension in the group, and Jun, who didn't have his weapon by his side, asked, "Where are my soldiers?"

"Most have evacuated according to your orders, but others stayed to wait for you to wake up, and right now they're fighting Zhao soldiers who are trying to kill you."

Jun showed a look of confusion, then remembered how he had been taken from the battlefield by the twins before losing consciousness.

That meant that Ri Boku was still seeking his head; after all, killing the God of Martial Arts had been a major blow to his power.

"How many soldiers are surrounding us?"

No one answered, and the people who didn't seem to be assassins stood there, looking at him confusedly. So Jun, keeping his expression emotionless, rephrased the question: "Are we losing?"

"Losing…"

"No."

"I don't think so."

"There are only about two hundred assassins surrounding this hill. We're the only ones who've stayed here waiting for you to wake up."

"Then you can leave now." Jun replied as he walked over to where his sword was, picked it up, and looked at its blade, which remained intact.

Many sought his head, wanting to kill him at any opportunity. He was injured and couldn't fight at full strength.

It was fortunate that he wasn't gravely wounded; the cuts hadn't become infected, and it seemed he was healing faster than usual.

"If we had stayed, our home wouldn't have been destroyed." A young man with dark eyes looked directly at Jun, reproaching him with his frustrations.

"Silence." The white-haired elder scolded the young man, who seemed not to recognize who stood before him.

Jun walked over to the young man, placed his hand on his shoulder, and squeezed slightly.

"Ahhh!"

The young man's body dropped with such force that it seemed his knees might break. However, his face bore a defeated expression.

"Do you blame me for saving your life?" Jun asked, pressing hard on the young man.

The white-haired elder kneeled and pleaded, "Spare him, my lord; he doesn't know what he's saying. He's still young."

"At his age, I was grounded and aware of everything around me; don't give me that excuse." Jun's eyes were stern, and the bandage on his face couldn't hide the harshness in his gaze.

He had sacrificed much for these people, whom he now cared for and protected. Without him, many would likely have died without knowing why they were being attacked.

The king's desire to kill all the assassins of the Zhao state was inexplicable, especially with the Great War of the Unified Warring States against Qin so close at hand.

Even so, some people still didn't fully grasp the situation they were facing.

"Is Shen nearby?" Jun looked at the white-haired elder, who seemed to be the most experienced regarding their current situation.

"Yes, he returned a few days ago."

"Call him then. Tell him I've woken up, and we'll prepare to evacuate as soon as possible." When Jun said this, he walked toward a pool of water that connected to his room and looked at his reflection.

The wound on his face would leave a permanent mark from now on, and the broken ribs still in recovery hurt him greatly.

Recalling the previous battle, he realized he had neglected some important points, and what he remembered most was that there was no such thing as honor.

The idea of killing the strongest on the battlefield to win the war no longer existed in his mind because those soldiers had attacked him even after he defeated Hou Ken, and it had nearly cost him his life.

"My lord, did you call for me?" Shen bowed to Jun with utmost respect.

"Prepare the evacuation. We'll leave this place tonight," Jun said casually, showing no signs of pain or fatigue.

Shen nodded, looked up, and met Jun's gaze. After a pause, he asked, "Aren't you too injured?"

"I'm fine. Just a few fractured ribs, but I'm healing faster than expected," Jun replied as he put on his black clothing.

He looked at the glaive gifted to him by that god of martial arts and held it with both hands, feeling that this weapon was truly incredible, so he decided to keep it by his side.

On an open battlefield, a weapon like the glaive was what he needed to eliminate numerous enemies with just one sweep of his hand.

"Since the enemies are numerous on the hill, we'll take different routes to ensure you're safely evacuated to the cities of Wei under our leadership," said Shen, who was in charge of the retreat plan.

When everyone left this place, they would use gunpowder to blow up the paths leading up these hills to slow down the Zhao army's advance.

Jun had thought of this plan and then said, "Handle things discreetly."

"Understood."
