King of Underworld

Chapter 154 - Gigantomachia – Part 2

Chapter 154: Gigantomachia – Part 2

Flash! BOOM!

Zeus’s thunderbolt illuminated the battlefield, revealing the chaos below.

Gigantes roared as they hurled boulders and mountains, while gods charged forward, unleashing their divine powers.

Not far away, Poseidon spun his trident, summoning the sea itself. The churning waters crashed down on the Gigantes like living waves, sweeping them aside.

“Perish!”

“Let’s end this infernal war once and for all!”

*BANG! SPLASH!*

The battlefield devolved into utter pandemonium, with skirmishes breaking out everywhere.

Most striking was the clash between Zeus and King Eurymedon. Zeus wielded his Scythe, while Eurymedon swung a massive torch, likely a gift from Gaia herself.

The torch didn’t shatter against the Scythe’s edge—a testament to its divine origin.

Yet the King of the Gods was unmatched. Without outside intervention, Zeus would surely prevail.

Poseidon unleashed his power in a massive burst, sending Gigantes scattering—only to be surrounded by a group of the most formidable among them.

A particularly colossal one stepped forward, its voice booming.

“I am Polybotes, ruler of the seas! Come and meet your end, Poseidon!”

“I couldn’t care less about your name.”

Elsewhere, Apollo’s radiant arrows streaked through the sky, while Hephaestus transformed into a fiery titan, incinerating the Gigantes in his path.

One by one, each god found their match. Though the gods were vastly outnumbered, their unmatched might kept the balance precariously even.

*BANG! CRASH!*

Heracles smashed a mountain-sized boulder with a single swing of his specially forged iron club.

The God of Strength and Combat, once mortal, now rampaged across the battlefield, proving his divinity.

Even when he had been human, few could match his might; now, as a god, he was rivaled only by the Three Great Gods.

Laughing wildly, Heracles cleaved through the Gigantes, using their mangled remains as makeshift armor.

“That… that monster!”

“He’s not even one of the Twelve Olympians, yet he’s this strong?!”

Serpentine beasts that dared to stand in his way were torn apart in seconds.

In the chaos, my role was clear.

Rather than cutting through hordes of enemies, I would destabilize their ranks, lower their morale, and eliminate their commanders.

Concealed by my Kynee, I moved swiftly across the battlefield, striking with my Bident.

*SHLCK! SPLAT!*

The sickening sounds of flesh being pierced and torn echoed as I skewered Gigantes, leaving their corpses behind.

Remaining in one place for too long would reveal my position.

I needed to move faster—like Hermes, the swiftest among us.

*WHOOSH!*

A golden spear streaked past me, its trajectory narrowly missing my shoulder.

Hera’s weapon tore through a line of Gigantes, creating a deafening sonic boom.

While the Kynee could hide me from all but the mightiest foes, it had limitations in such chaotic battles.

Amid the carnage, I sensed a change. The Gigantes had begun to realize my presence.

“RAAAGH!”

“Lord of the Underworld! Show yourself!”

“If there are dying brothers nearby, hurl rocks in their direction!”

Boulders and fists came my way as I deftly dodged, slipping the Bident into any opening I found.

Blood and gore coated the battlefield as the war raged on.

Then I spotted a commanding figure among the Gigantes—a creature as strong as any Olympian.

“Hah. So, the invisible Lord of the Underworld stalks me. Do you seek my head, Hades?”

Ignoring its taunts, I cut down the Gigantes surrounding it and drove my Bident into its throat.

The commander—a giant named Alcyoneus—clutched at the weapon impaling him, his voice gurgling.

“My… name… is… Alcyoneus…! Brace yourself…!”

His burning eyes locked onto me, radiating hatred for all gods.

I noticed something troubling: his regenerative abilities far exceeded those of the other Gigantes.

Even with the essence of death coursing through him, he clung to life, gripping my weapon tightly.

“Now!”

*RUMBLE! CRASH!*

It was a trap.

With his dying breath, Alcyoneus shouted, signaling his allies to hurl mountains at my position.

I looked up. A massive peak descended, threatening to crush me entirely.

Using my power to destroy it would endanger nearby allies, and revealing my location would draw even more Gigantes.

Only one choice remained.

* * *

I burst through the falling mountain, creating a jagged tunnel to escape.

The expanded battlefield greeted me as I emerged.

The high-ranking gods and Gigantes commanders had begun to spread out, the Phlegraean Plains proving too narrow for such titanic combat.

As the battlefield stretched outward, the chaos intensified.

*FWOOOOSH! BOOM!*

Apollo’s radiant light pierced through boulders, while Artemis’s moonlit arrows struck Gigantes, driving them to madness.

Dionysus summoned vast grapevines, their intoxicating aroma engulfing a section of the battlefield.

*ZIIING! WHOOSH!*

“Die! This is the Hellfire Torch that even Atlas feared!”

“AAARGH! I, Clytius, fall here?!”

The precise, methodical deployment of divine power painted the battlefield in intricate sigils.

Hecate, the goddess of magic, strode confidently, her spells reducing Gigantes to ash.

Even those who dismissed magic as a mere imitation of divine authority respected its creator.

I couldn’t afford to linger.

Brushing debris from my armor, I thrust my Bident at the nearest Gigantes, impaling it cleanly.

Victory seemed closer. The Gigantes’ numbers dwindled, and their command structure was unraveling.

Rather than using the Kynee to stay hidden, I made myself visible, cutting down my enemies to break their morale.

“Black hair and a forked spear—it’s Hades!”

“Capture him before he vanishes again!”

“The fool removed his invisibility?!”

During the Titanomachy, many had underestimated me, dismissing me as an assassin who relied on stealth.

Compared to the destructive powers of Zeus’s lightning or Poseidon’s trident, my Kynee seemed trivial.

“Return to the Underworld, Hades!”

“For King Eurymedon!”

I summoned a simple but devastating power: a gateway to the Underworld.

*WHINNY!*

Out of the portal emerged my black chariot, drawn by ghostly horses wreathed in spectral flames.

I mounted the chariot, urging the phantom steeds forward.

While I lacked the raw destructive capacity of Zeus or Poseidon, my true strength lay elsewhere.

The Titans had made the same mistake long ago, thinking me powerless without the Kynee.

Every one of them now rotted in Tartarus.

The war for supremacy continued.

Mountains, boulders, and divine powers tore across the battlefield, leaving destruction in their wake.

*SHRIEK!*

For a moment, the battlefield fell silent as heads turned toward a new source of power.

Not Zeus, locked in his battle with Eurymedon.

Not Poseidon, whose waves crushed Gigantes mercilessly.

But something else—a presence that froze even gods.

*CRACK! BOOM!*

A streak of darkness carved through the battlefield.

Unlike Ares, whose crimson chariot radiated fury, this black chariot carried an aura of death.

Driving through the Gigantes like a meteor, I cut down everything in my path.

“Hades has finally shown his full strength.”

“Now we’ll see the power of the Lord of the Underworld.”

No longer hiding, I unleashed my might, scattering foes and shaking the earth.

Each strike of my Bident released waves of dark energy, erasing everything it touched.

Even the strongest Gigantes fell, their bodies dissolving into nothingness.

Victory seemed assured. The gods pressed their advantage.

The Gigantes, lacking immortality, fell one by one.

Their bodies piled upon the battlefield.

But something unsettling was happening.

The corpses of the Gigantes, their blood and flesh…

…were sinking into the earth.
