Chapter 1 - The Story of Hades
Chapter 1 The Story of Hades
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in a world overflowing with dreams and hopes, after having thought I died on 21st-century Earth.
No, to be precise, I fell to the ground naked and rolled around wildly.
As I struggled to comprehend this sudden calamity, someone shouted at ‘us’.
“Brothers and sisters! Grab your weapons and fight! Before that crazy father swallows us back into his belly!”
A blond man holding a sharp sword yelled while looking at the people around him.
On the ground were spears and knives scattered by that man, and the naked perverts around me were hurriedly picking up weapons.
“Thanks, youngest! We almost got stuck in father’s belly forever!”
“Swallowing his children the moment they are born, what kind of father does that to his kids?”
A pervert in his twenties with blue hair swung his sword at that ‘father’.
He showed unhesitatingly rebellious behavior by trying to kill his own father, but the surrounding perverts also agreed with him.
“This time, we won’t be swallowed so easily!”
“Haah!”
The ‘father’, who staggered like he couldn’t shake off a hangover, glared fiercely at us.
How could a person be fine without any wounds even after being hit by a sword?
Watching their fight, I clearly sensed something was off.
Despite their superhuman speed making the ground a mess and the deafening sounds of weapons clashing…
“Curse you all… How dare you defy me, Cronus! And Metis, how could you betray me!”
I could see all their movements.
A normal human wouldn’t be able to see such a superhuman fight.
In fact, I would have already died from being hit by the flying debris bursting like explosions.
“Brother at the back, please fight too! We’re being pushed back like this!”
“Uwaaah!”
Ka-kang! Kang!
Whether I had reincarnated as a superhuman or reborn as a monster, that ‘father’ clearly didn’t intend to leave me alone.
As soon as that thought crossed my mind, I grabbed a spear from the ground and threw it with all my might.
Shuuu- Puk!
“Gah! You wretches!”
“Nice, it hit father’s arm precisely!”
I’m sorry, father. But you attacked me first, so…
‘Father’ hastily pulled out the spear stuck in his arm and muttered something.
“Time!”
“Ugh… My body…”
“Do you think we will give up like this?”
My whole body stiffened.
The intangible energy spreading from father twisted the world at will.
But only for a moment, as we all resisted with all our might, the distorted flow of time returned to normal.
Feeling my body move normally again, we all continued our rebellious actions, causing father to fly into the sky and flee.
“Phew… Is it over?”
“If it weren’t for the youngest, we would have been in big trouble.”
“This is all thanks to mother. She gave father a stone to swallow instead of me.”
“Was that it? When the stone dropped in father’s belly, I thought he had gone mad.”
After the battle, the exhausted people collapsed on the ground.
While we all were catching our breath on the ground, the blond youth spoke.
“I am Zeus, the last child born by mother. May I know the names of my brothers and sisters…?”
“Hmm. I was named Poseidon.”
“I am Hera. Thanks to you, we all survived. Thank you.”
A man with blue hair introduced himself as Poseidon, and a woman introduced herself as Hera.
Could this place really be Greek and Roman mythology..? Then the father from earlier was Cronus?
“Call me Hestia.”
“…I’m Demeter.”
Having finished their introductions, they all looked at me.
And then, I realized what I should answer.
One of Zeus’s six siblings in Greek and Roman mythology, the ruler of the underworld…
“Hades.”
That was my name.
* * *
Leaving out only the past life part, I roughly embellished the story and finished it.
“So what happened next? Please tell me the story of how Lord Zeus became the king of the gods and established Olympus!”
Persephone, the goddess of spring and seeds, shouted cutely, looking at me with an eager expression.
But don’t you plan to go back? Demeter must be worried.
“Hmph, not for a while! Mom is always overprotective.”
The goddess of spring and seeds possessed a radiant beauty and pure divine power, completely unsuited for the underworld.
Seeing such a cute niece playing in this gloomy underworld caused cognitive dissonance in my mind.
Before Demeter got angry, I thought it best to send her back for real…
“Nooo..! I don’t want to go!”
Dear niece, please maintain some dignity as a goddess.
Should a goddess who presides over one of the four seasons act like this?
Of course, I knew she was showing such behavior in front of me, her elder and one of the three main gods.
If she showed this side to humans, she might just curse them without asking questions…
I had spoiled her too much when she was young because she was cute.
How did Demeter educate you? Fine, fine.
“Hehe. Thank you, Uncle Hades!”
If I told her stories until she got tired of them, she would probably get bored and go back on her own.
* * *
Amazingly, we were gods.
Not metaphorically, but the actual gods of the mythological era.
Children of Cronus, the god of agriculture and time who ruled the world, and Rhea, the earth mother goddess.
With a slight push off my legs, I jumped into the sky.
I felt like a superhero like Superman, and my body soared rapidly upward.
The clear, wide-open sky welcomed me, and the air around me rushed away.
As I went a bit higher, I saw clouds and carefully sat on them.
Am I not out of breath? How can I sit on clouds?
All thanks to divine power. This supernatural strength taught by my mother in this life… Rhea.
The overwhelming power endlessly surging within me moved smoothly as if I had handled it my whole life.
Since my species wasn’t human, it was only natural.
“Hades, did you find anything up there? Perhaps a spy sent by father!”
I heard Poseidon’s voice shouting from below.
I hadn’t found anything, but I wanted to enjoy this view, so I gave a suitable reply and looked around.
Fluffy white clouds floated around in groups near me.
Below the sky, a vast forest and river, like a landscape painting, captured my eyes.
This overwhelming sense of omnipotence from looking down at the world from a high place.
Briefly feeling the illusion that the whole world was mine, I raised my head.
Higher up, countless stars asserted their presence among the Milky Way.
Widening my view further, the black silk densely overlapped, filling my pupils, and a natural exclamation flowed from my mouth.
Ah… This world.
It was insanely beautiful.
* * *
Until then, I didn’t really feel the need to decide life and death with the Titan gods, but looking at the sky made me greedy.
I just wanted to live, enjoy, and savor the air in this world for a long time.
To do so, the Titan gods were obstacles to me.
Perhaps the other gods at that time felt the same as me.
“Wow… Indeed, sometimes when I looked higher from Olympus, it was really beautiful…”
So, we fought against father.
I didn’t want to let go of this world that felt like it was in my grasp.
I didn’t know much about Greek and Roman mythology, but there were parts I remembered.
Like the fact that the Hecatoncheires, who had a hundred hands, would side with us.
Thanks to that, when the war dragged on, I wasn’t surprised when Zeus brought the Cyclops brothers and the Hecatoncheires.
It was intriguing to receive the invisible helmet, Kynee, which could hide me from any god.
Anyway, wearing Kynee, I hid all the weapons of the Titan gods.
“Weapons! The weapons are gone! Unbelievable, who dared to sneak into Mount Othrys!”
Zeus swung the lightning he named Astraphe, dazzling the Titans with intense flashes.
“Close your eyes, Hera!”
“Hmph. Why are you telling me that while holding my waist!”
Boom! Flash!
Poseidon wielded his trident, Triaine (Trident), causing a magnitude 10.0 earthquake.
“Aaah!”
“We… We can’t stand!”
Thus, we mercilessly struck down the unarmed, blinded Titans and won the war.
Peace and glory should have reigned then…
“Lord Hades! Thanatos, the god of death, is missing, and the souls coming to the underworld have disappeared!”
“Someone who creates heavenly music like Lord Apollo wishes to meet you…”
“A muscular human, no, a demigod is beating up Charon, the ferryman, and heading this way!”
“Demeter sent a letter demanding the return of Persephone. If you don’t, she threatens to dry up the land…”
I never imagined I would become an administrator of a complaint center handling all sorts of crazy people causing chaos.
Hearing the commotion outside, Persephone quietly stood up.
Yes, you must be planning to run away before your mother arrives.
“Uh… Um… Then, Uncle Hades, since you seem busy, I’ll take my leave… Hehe…”
Off you go and don’t come back.
