Chapter 84 - III
At the banquet, all the ministers made witty remarks, which made Li Yunxi laugh out loud.
Jing Xingzhi’s position was very forward, below the fourth prince’s position, but Jing Xingzhi felt that he was being taken advantage of.
The princes’ position was very high, but they were all Li Yunxi’s sons! Sitting in a pile with Li Yunxi’s son, couldn’t he just…
Jing Xingzhi kept his head down and made himself delicious meatballs to satisfy himself.
The fourth prince Li Jiafu, who was sitting in front of him, just stared at it, thinking that this little uncle must be very good at eating!
The fourth prince Li Jiafu, who had turned seven that year, sighed and touched his bulging belly.
He had seen Jing Xingzhi eating so well and couldn’t help but follow suit, but he had a small belly and couldn’t keep up.
It felt very uncomfortable when his stomach was full but his mouth was still hungry. Moreover, the fourth prince Li Jiafu was also curious: how big was the belly of this young uncle?
The little guy’s eyes were too hot. Jing Xingzhi turned to look at him and blinked: “Your Highness, what’s wrong?”
“I, I, I, I’m full,” Li Jiafu said, blushing because of his stuttering. He frowned, observing Jing Xingzhi’s expression cautiously; he didn’t want to be laughed at.
Jing Xingzhi put down the chopsticks in his hand, moved the seat under his buttocks, and reached out to touch the child’s belly.
Hey! It was bulging!
After eating so much, Jing Xingzhi asked the little guy: “Does your father usually not give you food?”
Li Jiafu shook his head like a rattle: “No, no, no, no, here it is!”
“That may have been because tonight’s dish is special. It’s all delicious,” Jing Xingzhi reassured the child, gently rubbing his belly twice before withdrawing his hand.
Li Jiafu suddenly felt warm and comfortable in his stomach, as if the bad feeling had vanished all of a sudden.
“Feels good!” Seeing that Jing Xingzhi didn’t tease him and even rubbed his belly, Li Jiafu smiled at him.
Compared to Li Jiarui’s larger and more mischievous children, this smaller, well-behaved child looked much cuter, fair and chubby, smiling at everyone.
Jing Xingzhi smiled and pinched Li Jiafu’s chubby cheeks. “Don’t eat too much if you’re uncomfortable, or your belly might burst.”
“Okay,” Li Jiafu blushed, his cheeks pinched for the first time. He nodded obediently.
After watching Jing Xingzhi eat for a while, Li Jiafu couldn’t help but ask, “Little… little uncle, do you… do you want to come to school with me tomorrow?”
Jing Xingzhi glanced at the child and nodded helplessly. “I will.”
Jing Xingzhi never imagined that he would come to the capital as a transfer student.
Moreover, the curriculum was daunting. Among the three princes, he was the only one attending school as an afterthought. Even the plot of a romantic drama would not dare to act so audaciously!
Li Jiafu’s eyes sparkled. “Morning, morning, we mustn’t be late!”
At 7 am was when the Royal Academy started the classes, there were literature classes in the morning followed by martial arts classes after a break of an hour and a half.
Seeing the child’s excitement, Jing Xingzhi smiled and ruffled his hair again. “Thank you, Your Highness, for the reminder. Make sure to go to bed early tonight and don’t be late tomorrow.”
Li Jiafu nodded earnestly. “Okay, okay.”
.
The next day,
Li Jiafu woke up early, hurriedly ate breakfast, and dashed off to school with a brocade box in hand.
Inside the brocade box was a jade ring. Li Jiafu liked the emerald green hue of this jade ring and planned to give it to the new classmate who was starting school today – the Juren Master, Jing Xingzhi.
Arriving early, Li Jiafu took out his textbook and started reading aloud, stumbling over the words.
After memorizing a passage, the third prince, Li Jiading, also arrived. He greeted Li Jiafu and then quietly sat down behind him, so silent that he almost seemed not to be there.
Li Jiafu was accustomed to his third brother’s quietness, but today, he felt like ants were racing around in his heart, making him fidgety and unable to sit still.
Li Jiafu gently poked Li Jiading and called out, “Third brother.”
Li Jiading turned around, somewhat puzzled. “Xiao Si, what’s up?”
Li Jiafu smiled at him. “We have new classmate today.”
“I know,” Li Jiading replied calmly, turning back to his reading.
Li Jiafu sighed. His third brother didn’t seem interested in talking to him at all.
But that was typical of Li Jiading. He only had eyes for the martial arts teacher who taught horse riding and swordsmanship.
Soon, the quiet schoolyard began to stir.
Li Jiarui was supported by someone as he staggered into the school. His injured buttock was still not fully healed, so he didn’t dare to make any sudden movements.
He didn’t need to attend class under these circumstances, but for some reason, his mother concubine insisted on him being there.
Feeling uncomfortable, Li Jiarui’s face darkened, and he didn’t even acknowledge his third and fourth brothers.
His seat was layered with soft cushions and two quilts stuffed on top. Li Jiarui laid down, yawned, closed his eyes, and was about to doze off.
Li Jiafu glanced over but quickly withdrew, knowing his second brother’s temper. Li Jiafu didn’t dare disturb Li Jiarui and could only stretch his neck to look at the door from time to time.
Right on time, Teacher Jiang arrived for class.
His first order of business was to check the students’ homework.
Li Jiafu and Li Jiading had completed their assignments, and behind them was Li Jiarui’s empty desk. Despite returning from recovery, Li Jiarui hadn’t done his homework.
At that moment, Li Jiarui was still sprawled across his desk, fast asleep!
Teacher Jiang’s expression darkened as he tapped his teaching stick on Li Jiarui’s desk. “Your Highness, if you want to sleep, do it in your own quarters!”
Annoyed, Li Jiarui opened his eyes, scratched his head, and muttered indignantly, “If it weren’t for my mother concubine forcing me, do you think I’d be here?”
Teacher Jiang’s anger flared at these words. He turned away bitterly; his heart filled with frustration.
At the door, Jing Xingzhi, who had watched the whole process, said with serious face: “No respect for the teacher.”
Li Yunxi’s expression darkened as well. Upon hearing Jing Xingzhi’s remark, he couldn’t help blurting out, “He deserves a whipping.”
After speaking, even Li Yunxi himself was taken aback. Li Jiarui, this rebellious son, was so troublesome that even his own father couldn’t bear it.
