Jessie’s Pokémon Journey (AU)

Chapter 81: The Winds of a New Beginning

The scene opens up with the camera moving through the ocean as a flock of Pidgey and Pokémon resembling an owl fly by in the sky as the narrator begins speaking. "Welcome to Johto, a beautiful region filled with so many new Pokémon just waiting to be discovered! As we come across a town called New Bark Town!"

It shows a bunch of buildings before stopping in a certain house as it cuts to inside it and someone's mother, who has black hair in the shape of two loops with an apron on, cooking breakfast. She places the breakfast on the plate. "Kris, sweetie, breakfast is ready!"

The scene cuts to a girl in her bed wrapped under the covers where her head and teal hair are only seen at the moment. She's snoring and sleeping before turning and accidentally falling from bed. "AH!" She screamed before hitting the floor as she was in her pajamas. "Ugh, my head…" She groaned and started rubbing her head.

"Kris, breakfast is ready!" Her mother repeated, more loudly.

"Coming, Mother! Just let me get dressed!" Kris repeated back to her.

The scene skips to the kitchen where Kris is fully dressed in her yellow and black short-sleeved shirt with a black skirt. She has a yellow fanny pack around her waist, black socks, and red and white shoes. Kris is seen scoffing down her breakfast. "This is so good, mom! You always know how to cook a good breakfast!" She says while her mouth is full of food.

Kris' mother looks worried at her daughter eating so fast. "Don't eat so fast and talk with your mouth full, sweetie. What's the rush?"

Kris swallows her food before speaking again. "You don't know, mom? Today is the day you let me go out and become a Pokémon trainer to explore the region and live out my dreams!"

Kris's mother's eyes widened. "That's today?!" She chuckles before rubbing the back of her head. "Time does go fast, huh?"

Kris finishes her breakfast and stands up, about to leave. "I'm going to Professor Elm's lab to get my first Pokémon. Later, Mom!"

Her mother immediately stops her. "Hold it right there, young lady! Aren't you forgetting something?" She reaches into one of her pockets, pulls out a pink rectangular electronic device, and extends it to her daughter.

"Oh right, my Pokégear!" Kris immediately takes her Pokégear and stuffs it in one of her pockets. "Thanks, Mom for bringing it to me!" She opens the door and rushes out of the house.

Kris' mother sighs. "My daughter is about to go on her journey. She grows up so fast!"

The title screen shows.

"The Winds of a New Beginning"

Kris is running in the streets of New Bark Town before stopping upon view of a particular building. "Professor Elm's lab!" She looks to see someone standing to the side of the laboratory, looking at a window.

It was a boy with red hair wearing a high-collared navy coat with red trim, dark violet pants, a black belt, and navy shoes with red trim that matched the colors of his coat. "So this is the famous Elm Pokémon laboratory." The red-haired boy spoke.

Kris walks up to the red-haired boy, curiously as she waves hello to him. "Hey there! Are you also going to get your first Pokémon too?"

The red-haired boy gets spooked by Kris' voice and shoves her away, causing Kris to fall. "Get lost!"

"Ow!" Kris gets up and dusts herself off. "What a jerk!" She pouts before entering Professor Elm's lab. Kris looks around in amazement. "Wow… it's so beautiful!"

"Oh, Kris!" A man in a laboratory coat, wearing glasses, walks up to her. "Welcome to my laboratory!"

"Hey, Professor Elm!" Kris waves at the professor.

"I'm assuming you're here to select your starter Pokémon, correct?" Professor Elm asked for confirmation.

Kris nods. "Yep! Will you show me where I can choose?"

Professor Elm also nods. "Just follow me, Kris."

The scene cuts to Professor Elm leading Kris to a room where a table with three specific Pokémon on it: A Pokémon with bluish fur on top of its body and cream-colored fur on its underside, A Pokémon with well-developed jaws, and A small, pale-green, quadrupedal Pokémon with dark-green buds around its neck.

Kris gasps upon seeing the three starter Pokémon. "Oh my goodness they're so cute!" She runs up to the three and starts petting the three starters.

The three starters all start crying out joy upon receiving pats from Kris. "Cynda!" "Totodile!" "Chiko!"

"Let me introduce you to the starters before you make your choice, Kris." Professor Oak says as the camera pans to the small, bipedal mammalian Pokémon as the professor starts explaining. "This is Cyndaquil, the fire-type starter! The perfect starter to burn through the competition!"

"Cinda! Cindaquil!" Cindaquil cried out cheerfully.

The camera pans to the bipedal, crocodilian Pokémon with Professor Elm's explanation continuing. "This is Totodile, the water-type starter! The perfect starter to wash away your opponents!"

"Toto! Totodile!" Totodile also cries out cheerfully.

The camera pans to the final Pokémon, the quadrupedal one with Professor Elm continuing. "And finally we have the grass-type starter, Chikorita! The perfect starter to cut through anyone who gets in your way!"

"Chiko! Chikorita!" Chikorita also cries out cheerfully.

"Choose whatever Pokémon you think suits you, Kris." Professor Elms says with a smile.

Kris looks at the three starters in amazement. "I-I don't know who to choose, Professor. You explained them so well that I just want to have all three of them!"

Professor Elm chuckles before rubbing the back of his head. "Every Pokémon trainer wishes they can have all three. Please, take your time, Kris."

Kris starts thinking about which starter to choose. She looks at Cindaquil, then Totodile, and finally at Chikorita, but never laying her eyes off of the quadrupedal Pokémon. "You're perfect! Professor Elm, I'm officially choosing Chikorita as my starter Pokémon!"

Cindaquil and Totodile both cried out in disbelief. "Cinda?!" "Toto?!"

As Chikorita cries out cheerfully, jumping up and down in excitement. "Chiko! Chiko! Chikorita!" It then jumps into Kris' arms.

Kris catches Chikorita, chuckling, and petting her new Pokémon. "You and I are going to make a great team, Chikorita!"

Chikorita nods and nuzzles Kris' cheek. "Chiko!"

"I think you guys are perfect for each other!" Professor Elm hands over a Poké Ball to Kris. "Here's Chikorita's Poké Ball." As Kris accepts it, then he hands her a Pokédex and five other empty Poké Balls. "And your Pokédex and Poké Balls for catching!"

"Thank you so much, Professor!" Kris also accepts the Pokédex and the five Poké Balls, placing them in her backpack. "Chikorita, return!" She recalls Chikorita back in its Poké Ball.

"Chiko!" Chikorita cries out before getting recalled.

The scene cuts to Kris leaving Professor Elm's lab but she turns to her right and notices the red-haired boy isn't looking out the window anymore on the side of the building. "That's odd… what happened to that jerk of a person?" She shrugs it off and continues walking.

The scene cuts to Kris walking in the routes of Route 29 until a wild Pokémon runs into view of the path from the tall grass. "Sentret!"

"What Pokémon is that?!" Kris immediately questioned.

However, upon seeing Kris. "SENTRET! SENTRET!" The wild Pokémon starts screeching and hitting its tail on the ground as many other wild Pokémon like it from the tall grass immediately run away.

Kris holds her ears in pain. "Why is it screeching?!" She uncovers one of her ears to pull out her Pokédex to aim it at the wild Pokémon.

"Sentret, the Scout Pokémon, a normal type. When acting as a lookout, it warns others of danger by screeching and hitting the ground with its tail."

"So that's why!" Kris pulls out a Poké Ball. "Chikorita, your first ever Pokémon battle, here you go!"

Chikorita materializes. "Chiko!"

"Chikorita, make that Sentret quiet with your voice. Use Growl!" Kris commanded.

Chikorita stares down at Sentret and begins growling aggressively at the scout Pokémon, causing Sentret to stop screeching and look at Chikorita in confusion. "Sentret?"

"Great! Now use your Tackle attack!" Kris commands once more.

"Chiko!" Chiko starts dashing towards the wild Sentret, about to tackle it.

"Sentret!" Sentret quickly rolls itself up into a ball, causing Chikorite's Tackle attack to backfire into taking damage.

"CHIKO!" Chikorita cries out in pain.

"What Pokémon move was that?!" Kris questioned in disbelief.

Kris' Pokédex answers her question with the dex still in her hand. "That was Sentret's Defense Curl."

Kris grits her teeth. "I have to find a way around its Defense Curl." She then gets an idea upon saying those exact words. "I got it! Chikorita, go in for a tackle but listen to my commands!"

Chikorita looks at Kris and nods. "Chiko!" It focuses its attention back on the wild Sentret and starts rushing towards it.

"Sentret!" Sentret rolls itself up into a ball once more.

Upon Chikorita getting closer, Kris waits for the right moment before commanding. "Jump, Chikorita!"

"Chiko!" Chikorita jumps over the curled-up Sentret, now behind it.

Sentret uncurls itself, looking for Chikorita in confusion. "Sentret?"

Kris clutches her fist. "Now, Chikorita!"

"Chiko!" Chikorita tackles the wild Sentret from behind.

"SENTRET!" The wild Sentret screams out in pain upon being tackled.

Kris quickly pulls out an empty Poké Ball. "Now I have you! Go Poké Ball!" She tosses it towards Sentret.

"Sentret!" Sentret gets hit by the empty Poké Ball and goes in.

The Poké Ball starts wiggling as Kris and Chikorita wait for the confirmation. However, after three wiggles, the Poké Ball breaks open and the Sentret quickly flees away to avoid being captured.

"Come back here!" Kris extends her arm for the running Sentret before giving up, looking down, and sighing. "And I was so close to catching it too…"

Chikorita also sighs. "Chiko…"

Kris quickly perks her head up with a smile. "That's okay because you did great out there, Chikorita and we'll have our first capture soon!"

Chikorita also perks up after what Kris said. "Chiko! Chiko!"

Kris was about to carry on her way until she got a call from her Pokégear. "Huh? Who could that be?" She pulls out her Pokégear and sees that it's Professor Elm. "Oh, Professor Elm! He's already calling me?"

Chikorita also questions in confusion. "Chiko?"

Kris accepts the call and holds her Pokégear up to her ear. "Yes, Professor?"

The sound of panic in Professor Elm's voice is on the other line. "H-hello? Kris? It's a disaster!"

Kris also goes into a panic. "Professor?! What happened?"

"Uh, um, it's just terrible! What should I do?!" Professor Elm replied, even more of a panic.

"Professor, just calm down and tell me what happened!" Kris replied.

"Please get back to the lab right now before you get hurt!" Professor Elm ends the call.

Kris immediately puts her Pokégear away and looks at Chikorita. "Come on, Chikorita, we gotta get back to Elm's lab to see what's up!"

Chikorita immediately nods. "Chiko!"

As Kris turns around back in the direction of New Bark Town, about to sprint off, she accidentally runs into someone. "AH!" They both screamed.

"Chiko!" Chikorita dashed towards Kris to make sure she was okay.

Kris rubs her head and looks at the person she bumped into. It was the red-haired person who shoved her earlier. "YOU!" She immediately gets up.

The red-haired boy was in disbelief upon hearing Kris' voice again as he looked back at her. "What, you again?!" The red-haired boy also immediately gets up, holding a Poké Ball forward. "That's it! You have annoyed me for the last time, you little pest! I challenge you to a Pokémon battle!"

Kris shakes her head. "I have no time for a battle! My Chikorita needs rest from a wild battle it was in earlier and I need to get back to New Bark Town to see what happened with Professor Elm!"

"You're not going anywhere unless you battle with me. I'll even harm you if I have to if you don't battle with me!" The red-haired boy threatened.

Kris stares at the red-haired boy before looking at her Chikorita. "Chikorita, can you still battle despite the one earlier?"

Chikorita nods. "Chiko!"

Kris smiles at the answer. "Alright, then I choose you!"

Chikorita hops into the made-up battlefield, ready to battle. "Chiko!"

"Cyndaquil, I choose you!" The red-haired boy throws the Poké Ball.

The Poké Ball opens and Cyndaquil is revealed inside. "Cyndaquil!"

"Wait… Cyndaquil? One of Professor Elm's starters? Did you… break into Professor Elm's lab and steal Cyndaquil?!" Kris gasps upon connecting the dots. "So that's why you were standing suspiciously next to the window earlier!"

"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't! Now quit wasting time and let's battle." The red-haired boy demanded.

Kris growls before staring down the red-haired boy, ready to battle him. The scene cuts to a boat arriving at the dock of New Bark Town as a certain female with a pink hat, gray shirt, and red skirt hops off the boat.

"We finally arrived in Johto!" Jessie said in excitement.

Meowth also hops onto Jessie's shoulder from the boat. "About time, I was getting bored standing on that boat."

Domino, who was holding Azurill in her arms, gets off the boat next. "A fresh new start in a new region!"

"Azurill!" Azurill cries out cheerfully.

James was next to get off the boat. "Don't forget about me guys! I'm hyped too!"

Jessie looks at Aaliyah, who is driving the boat. "Thank you so much, Aaliyah!"

"Of course, Jessie! I should be heading back to Pallet Town in Kanto. Professor Oak also told me as soon as you guys arrive in New Bark Town that you should visit someone's laboratory named Professor Elm! Take care now!" Aaliyah waves goodbye before she starts driving the boat back to Kanto.

The gang, on the docks, all wave goodbye back to Aaliyah while she drives off in the distance. "So Professor Oak says we should visit a different Professor's lab as soon as we arrive here?" Jessie questioned.

James nods. "I guess so. Their name is Professor Elm if I heard that correctly."

"'Professor Elm?' Another professor who's named after a tree? Is every professor named after a tree?" Meowth questioned.

"Who cares? We should head there already so we can see some new Johto Pokémon very soon!" Domino said.

Azurill nods and cheers happily. "Azurill!"

The scene cuts to the gang walking on the streets of New Bark Town, looking for Professor Elm's lab. "Do you guys see anything that resembles a lab?" Jessie asked.

Meowth, Domino, James, and Azurill all shake their heads. "Nope." "Azurill." All replied with the same thing except for Azurill who just said their cry.

The gang spotted a police car parked next to a building with its siren blinking on as they all gasped. "Looks like something happened guys!" Jessie said.

James looks further to see Officer Jenny talking to someone in a lab coat, not knowing it's Professor Elm. "I also see Officer Jenny talking to someone. We should go over and try the best we can do to help.

Jessie, Meowth, Domino, and Azurill all nod in agreement before rushing over to the scene. "Did you catch a description of the perpetrator, sir?" Officer Jenny asked.

"Umm…" Professor Elm sighs and looks down. "No, not really. The perp snatched the Pokémon and its Poké Ball so fast I couldn't even get a look at them."

"Sir! Sir! Sir!" Jessie and her friends arrive to get Professor Elm and Officer Jenny's attention. "What happened here? We want to help!"

Officer Jenny scowls at the gang. "You kids shouldn't get involved with police work, you know?!"

"It's okay Officer Jenny, if they want to help, they should." Professor Elm turns to the gang. "Someone broke into my lab and stole my Cyndaquil!"

"Lab? Cyndaquil?" The gang repeated. "Wait, so this is the Professor Elm Laboratory and you're Professor Elm?" Jessie asked for confirmation.

Professor Elm nods. "Yes, this is the lab and I'm Professor Elm, but there's no time to waste. Can you guys help me get Cyndaquil back?"

"About that Professor, we have never seen a Cyndaquil before," Domino says with an embarrassed chuckle.

"I have a photo right here." Professor Elm reaches into one of his lab coat pockets and pulls out a photo of Cyndaquil and shows it to the gang.

The gang looks at the photo before they all nod. "We're gonna try our best to get it back. Do you know where this thief could've gone off to?" James asked.

Professor Elm scratches his head. "Not really, but there's only one place where the thief could go because heading east of New Bark Town is just ocean, so they must've gone west into Route 29."

"Loud and clear, Professor!" Jessie looks at her friends. "Let's go, gang!"

Meowth, Domino, James, and Azurill all nod. "Right!" "Azurill!"

The scene cuts to the Team Rocket headquarters where a Team Rocket trio of the names of Cassidy, Butch, and Mondo, are sitting and waiting outside of their boss' office. "How long is the boss going to have us wait?! I am growing very impatient here!" Butch complained.

Cassidy shushes Butch and yells at him. "Shut your mouth before your impatience costs us our job!"

Mondo is tapping his foot repeatedly. "We could be trying to steal that twerpette's talking Meowth, but instead we're waiting for probably a slap on the wrists."

Cassidy turns around and shushes Mondo, yelling at him too. "That means you too, Mondo!"

The door opens, immediately gaining the trio's attention as a Team Rocket grunt appears behind the door. "The new boss would like to see you three now."

The trio all looked at each other in confusion. "New boss?" Before the three steps into their new boss' office.

Upon the trio entering the office, they see a person wearing a black cape to cover any sort of skin. "Take a seat, you three."

The Team Rocket trio looks nervous. "Y-yes, sir." They nervously take a seat from the new boss who ordered them.

The new boss turns around, revealing to wear a red letter R mask to cover their face. "Do you know why you three are here right now?" It sounds like the Masked Boss is using a voice disguiser.

The Team Rocket trio immediately shake their heads. "I-is that you, Giovanni, covering your identity now?" Butch asked.

"I am not Giovanni." The Masked Boss responded. "I don't know how hearing 'new boss' from that member earlier didn't get that through your head."

Butch immediately stays quiet as Cassidy whispers to Mondo. "Normally Butch would respond angrily but he didn't do it this time. This guy is serious."

Mondo nods slowly. "Tell me about it." He whispered back.

The Masked Boss starts explaining what happened to the previous boss, Giovanni. "If you three are wondering what happened to Giovanni, after the base explosion, Archer's possible death, and Team Rocket failed to secure the three legendary birds, Giovanni has officially stepped down as boss and quit Team Rocket in general."

The Team Rocket trio gasps. "G-Giovanni quit?!" Mondo repeated.

The Masked Boss nods. "That is correct and honestly I would too after what a joke of an organization he ran. So now, Team Rocket is going to be run by me and this is the part where failure is not an option one bit! If it wasn't for me stepping up when Giovanni gave up then Team Rocket would've been history right now and you three idiots wouldn't have jobs anymore."

The Team Rocket trio immediately bows to their Masked Boss. "Thank you so much, sir!" Cassidy says while bowing.

"But why should I let you three keep your jobs?" The Masked Boss questioned. "Giovanni described you three as, and I quote, 'three idiots that couldn't even steal a Magikarp if it was splashing helplessly on land if I assigned them to do so' I'm surprised Giovanni hasn't fired you three earlier."

Cassidy spoke up, trying to explain herself and her partners-in-crime. "Sir, we're on a mission to steal a very rare talking Meowth from this twerpette. The only problem is that she and her little twerp friends keep somehow finding a way to foil our plans."

"She's a strong trainer, sir," Butch added.

"But we three swear that we will not give up on stealing that talking Meowth if you don't fire us, sir." Mondo also added.

"This group needs someone with at least a brain because I know you three don't have any." The Masked Boss insulted the trio.

The trio looked at each other with sad expressions before Cassidy spoke up to agree with their new boss. "Yes, sir."

The Masked Boss tells the Team Rocket trio the situation. "Here's what I'm going to do. Since a trio like you three can't capture this talking Meowth from this specific trainer if you want to keep your jobs, you're going to have to let someone smart join you on this operation."

The Team Rocket trio's eyes widened in shock. "A new member?!" Cassidy exclaimed.

"We're not going to be a trio anymore?!" Butch also exclaimed.

"Who's going to be joining us, sir?" Mondo asked.

The sound of footsteps can be heard behind the trio as they look behind. It was a girl with purple hair and reddish eyes. She's wearing glasses and a black Team Rocket uniform to match with the trio. "Greetings. You can call me Matori." She introduced herself.

Cassidy takes one glance at Matori before turning to her boss with annoyance. "She's going to be the one joining us?"

"Either that or you three are let go from Team Rocket forever!" The Masked Boss responded.

Butch rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. "Oh great, a nerd is going to be joining us."

Mondo introduces himself to Matori in a friendly gesture. "Welcome to the group, Matori! I'm Mondo and this is Cassidy and Butch."

Matori looks at Mondo, Cassidy, then at Butch before scoffing. "No wonder this little group requires my assistance. They need it badly."

Cassidy growls at Matori, getting up to her face. "Are you saying our team is weak or stupid?!"

Matori is still expressionless even Cassidy angry in your face as she takes a step back. "Both to be exact."

"Why you little bitch!" Cassidy was being held back by Butch and Mondo before she could've harmed Matori. "You're gonna regret those words."

"Whatever…" Matori rolls her eyes at Cassidy's grumbling before pulling out earmuffs from her pocket and starts wearing them.

"SILENCE!" The Masked Boss yelled out to cause Cassidy to stop and be quiet and for Butch and Mondo to let go of her.

Matori removes her earmuffs and bows. "Thank you, sir."

"This is exactly why I'm adding Matori to your group!" The Masked Boss tosses a Poké Ball to Matori. "You're gonna need a Pokémon while operating with them, Matori. Here is a Delibird."

"A Delibird?" The Team Rocket trio all said in confusion.

Matori catches the Poké Ball and groans. "Seriously. You three don't know what a Delibird is?" She opens the Poké Ball while holding it.

What materialized was a red, avian Pokémon with a white, hollow tail, holding it like it was a big sack. Its face and chest are covered in white feathers with two, three-pointed crests above its eyes. "Deli!" It cries out.

The Team Rocket trio stares in amazement. "So that's one of those Johto Pokémon?!" Cassidy exclaimed in amazement.

Matori starts explaining in detail about the avian Pokémon. "This Pokémon is named Delibird. It's known as the Delivery Pokémon. This Pokémon also carries food all day long. There appear to be tales about lost people who were saved by the food it had."

Butch licks his lips upon the information he was told. "So we don't have to worry about starvation anymore?! This is the best Pokémon we could ever have on our side!"

"Deli!" Delibird searches into his tail for something. The Pokémon pulls out a present and hands it to Butch.

"A present for me? Is it food?! You shouldn't have!" Butch immediately opens the present only to get pied in the face upon opening it.

Cassidy and Mondo both point and laugh at Butch getting pied. "You did get food after all!" Mondo says.

Butch blushes from getting pranked. "It's not funny! Stop laughing, you two!"

Matori groans in annoyance. "Idiots…" She recalls Delibird back in its Poké Ball. "Boss, can we get started?"

"You four better bring me that talking Meowth. If Matori helping can't get you fools to steal it, then you all are officially fired. Now leave my office!" The Masked Boss demanded.

The Team Rocket quartet leaves their new boss' office. "I believe the twerpette is currently in Johto now," Cassidy informed them.

"Do you have any kind of possible transportation to get there?" Matori asked.

"We could take our hot air balloon," Mondo suggested.

"Given how we don't know how far we are from Johto, that can take days," Matori informed them.

"Okay nerd, since you're so smart, you figure out how to get us there!" Butch demanded.

"I would appreciate it if you stop calling me a nerd, thank you." Matori starts thinking of a way to get there as she gets an idea. "I got it!"

The scene cuts back to Johto in the middle of Kris' battle against the red-haired boy on Route 29. Both Chikorita and Cyndaquil look beaten up and tired. "Chikorita, use Tackle!" Kris commanded.

"Chiko!" Chikorita starts dashing into Cyndaquil.

"Dodge it, Cyndaquil!" The red-haired boy countered.

"Cynda!" Cynda dashes out of the way to the right to avoid the tackle.

The red-haired boy immediately commands his next move. "Now use Smokescreen!"

Cyndaquil opens its mouth. "Cynda-" and then releases a thick black smoke from its mouth. "QUUUIIILLLLL!"

The thick black smoke covers the made-up battlefield and Chikorita can't see anything. "Chiko?!"

"Aw shoot, Chikorita can't see anything through this smoke!" Kris starts to panic a little. "Chikorita, try your best to be on the lookout!"

Chikorita starts looking all over the black smoke, trying to possibly spot Cyndaquil. "Chiko! Chiko!" Then it turns around to do the same. "Chiko!"

The red-haired boy points at the black smoke. "Now!"

Cyndaquil takes the opportunity and dashes into Chikorita, tackling it while they are in the black smoke. "Cyndaquil!"

"CHIKO!" Chikorita screams out in pain from the tackle as it got flung and landed right next to Kris.

"Chikorita, no!" Kris shouted. "I knew I shouldn't have let you battle again! Come on, get up!"

Chikorita slowly gets up, and still has enough heart to battle as it cries from exhaustion. "Chiko… Chiko…"

The thick black smoke clears the made-up battlefield as Cyndaquil is standing right in the middle, staring at Chikorita. "Cynda."

"Your Chikorita has heart, I'll give you that, but it's time for me to put this battle and you to rest for good!" The red-haired boy was about to command his possibly last move. "Cyndaquil use-"

But he was interrupted by the shouts of a female in the distance. "MEOWTH, USE THUNDERBOLT!"

Out of nowhere, Cyndaquil gets struck down by a bolt of electricity. "CYNDAQUIL!" The fire starter screamed in pain. It then falls to the ground and has fainted.

Kris immediately recalls Chikorita back in its Poké Ball. "Chikorita, return!"

"What in the world?!" The red-haired boy looks to where the electric attack came from and he sees three people with a Meowth dashing towards him and Kris.

Jessie and her friends stand in front of the Cyndaquil, the group staring directly at the red-haired boy. "You must be the thief who stole this Cyndaquil from Professor Elm's lab!" Jessie exclaimed.

"We won't let you have this Cyndaquil, you criminal!" Domino also exclaimed.

"Azurill!" Azurill cried out to back up her point.

The red-haired boy looks at the fainted Cyndaquil on the ground and scoffs. "Such a weak Pokémon can't take one electricity attack. Keep the Cyndaquil, I don't need such a weak Pokémon on my team."

"That was easy," Meowth says.

Jessie growls at the red-haired boy, clutching her fist. "All Pokémon are strong when you give them your heart and soul in training them! Who are you?!"

"Why do you want to know, so that you can give my information to the police?" The red-haired boy starts walking away from the group and reveals his name while doing so. "The name is Silver and don't even try to tell the police, it ain't going to help you."

"So his name was Silver all this time?" Kris says quietly to herself.

"Come back here, you-" Jessie was about to chase after Silver until James held her to prevent Jessie from doing so.

"We have no time for this, we can deal with him later. Right now we need to get Cyndaquil back to Professor Elm's lab!" James ordered.

Kris feels a raindrop on her shoulder. "Did I just feel a raindrop on my shoulder?" She looks up to see the sky being covered by dark clouds as more raindrops start to fall. "Guys, we have bigger problems!"

Meowth starts to panic upon hearing the word 'raindrop.' "Oh no, rain! I hate rain!"

Kris looks at Meowth in confusion upon hearing him speak. "Am I hearing things correctly or did I just hear that Meowth talk?"

Domino immediately informs the group. "Rain is dangerous for a fire type like Cyndaquil, right?!"

Azurill looks scared for Cyndaquil. "Azurill! Azurill! Azurill!"

Domino starts petting Azurill to comfort them. "It's okay, Azurill, everything is going to be okay."

"We need its Poké Ball!" Jessie looks at Kris. "Do you know where Cyndaquil's Poké Ball is or at least have it?"

Kris shakes her head. "I unfortunately don't have it. I think that Silver guy accidentally took it with him and I don't think he's gonna come back when he realizes he does have Cyndaquil's Poké Ball!"

James shakes his head. "He's most likely going to break it when he does find out."

Jessie runs over to the knocked-out Cyndaquil, picking the fire starter, and hiding Cyndaquil under her pink hat. "Hang in there, Cyndaquil!"

Meowth starts pouting. "That's my hiding spot whenever rain starts to drop, what about me?!"

Jessie looks at Meowth with an angry look and scowls at him. "Rain cannot potentially kill you, unlike Cyndaquil's situation. Now shush!"

Kris gasps upon hearing Meowth talk again. "So I am not hearing things! That Meowth did speak after all. I gotta question that soon!"

As the rain starts pouring faster, James points at a forest. "We should head into the forest! The trees will help block some of the rain."

Domino nods. "Good idea, James! Come on guys, to the forest!"

The gang starts sprinting to the forest as Kris stands there and thinks in her mind. "I should go with them. Professor Elm called me for help with Cyndaquil too." "Wait for me guys!" Kris sprints after the gang to follow them.

The scene cuts to the group walking in the forest. "Does anyone know what direction that will lead us into New Bark Town now in this forest?" Jessie asked.

"Oh! Oh! I can!" Kris walks up to the front to lead. "New Bark Town is where I live. I know where it is like night and day!"

"Thanks, miss!" James realizes something. "Say, we didn't even get your name yet."

This causes Kris to widen her eyes at the realization that she hasn't introduced herself to the gang. "My dear apologies, everyone. My name is Kris and I just started my Pokémon journey today!"

"That's so awesome, Kris!" Domino praised.

"Azurill!" Azurill cheers happily.

Jessie assumes her name is spelled the other way. "Chris is such an awesome name, I like the way it's spelled. C-H-R-I-S. Pretty cool if you ask me."

Kris giggles as Jessie spelled her name wrong. "It's spelled as K-R-I-S, with a 'K' not with a 'Ch.' Don't worry, this happens almost every time I meet someone new."

Jessie gasps. "No way, that's even cooler that way! My name is Jessie and you spell it as J-E-S-S-I-E, not J-E-S-S-E." She giggles.

Domino joins in to introduce herself. "And my name is Domino." She holds up Azurill for Kris to see. "And this is my adorable baby Pokémon, Azurill."

"Azurill!" Azurill cries out cheerfully on Domino introducing them.

Kris has her eyes sparkled upon seeing Azurill. "Aww! They're so adorable!" She starts petting Azurill. "Adorable baby!"

Azurill enjoys the pets from Kris. "Azurill."

And last James introduces himself "And you can call me James, Kris."

"Hey, James!" Kris makes a clicking noise and finger points at James. "Those are some nice shades, bro!"

James bows his head for gracefulness. "And thank you very much!"

Jessie realizes someone who she forgot to introduce as she looks at Meowth next to her. "And this is my Meowth!"

Meowth waves at Kris, thinking that she doesn't know that he can talk until Kris questions it. "That reminds me! I could've sworn I heard your Meowth talking twice back there. Is that true? Can your Meowth talk?!"

Meowth reveals his voice as he chuckles. "I guess you ain't that stupid, teal hair. Yeah, I can talk alright, but don't you be planning on trying to steal me or something!"

Kris backs up a little bit with her hands in front of her. "Whoa there, little buddy. I'm not planning on being a Pokémon thief, unlike that Silver guy. You have nothing to worry about." She looks at Jessie. "It's still cool that your Meowth can talk. Did you train him to talk or…?"

Jessie chuckles and shakes her head. "Oh no! No! No! He's been yapping ever since we started our Pokémon journey together."

Meowth points his sharp claws at Jessie to jokingly threaten. "Jess, you better watch what you're saying! We wouldn't have been in this mess if you didn't command me to knock out the Cyndaquil!"

Domino speaks up to defend Jessie. "It's not like Jessie had a choice. She had to knock out Cyndaquil so that Silver couldn't be in control of it."

Jessie looks at the ground upon hearing Silver's name. "Silver…" She then looks up where her pink hat is and also where Cyndaquil is lying there inside, unconscious. Jessie then clutches her fist and grits her teeth in anger.

"Is everything okay, Jessie?" James asked in concern.

"That Silver guy thinks Cyndaquil is weak because Cyndaquil couldn't take one electric attack. I'll show him!" Jessie responded.

Kris sees buildings in the clear views of the forest and informs the gang. "Guys, New Bark Town is up ahead! It also looks like the weather has cleared from the rain this quick!"

Domino and James smile in delight. "Thank you so much, Kris!" James praised. "I guess it was just a quick shower."

"Who knows where we would have been in this forest if you didn't come along with us!?" Domino added, rhetorically.

"Azurill!" Azurill cried cheerfully.

"I'm going to say that we will probably be lost forever," Meowth answered.

Jessie lifts her pink hat a little bit to pet Cyndaquil with her other hand. "Don't worry, Cyndaquil, we're almost there."

Cyndaquil gives out a weak cry. "Cyndaquil…"

Jessie fully covers Cyndaquil with her pink hat again before looking at the group. "Let's get Cyndaquil back to Professor Elm's lab, guys."

Everyone nods at Jessie in return as the group sprints off into New Bark Town. The narrator begins wrapping up the episode. "Jessie's first-ever steps on the soil of Johto has started ruff with a badly injured Cyndaquil, but with the help of this stranger named Kris, let's hope they can get Cyndaquil back to Elm's lab before it's too late!"
