Is It Wrong to Abusing Cartoon Tropes in Dungeon?

Chapter 49: 49 Title Problem

Holy Sword Wielder was the term used by Gilgamesh to refer to Arthur Pendragon. He didn't call him King Arthur but instead addressed him as the Holy Sword Wielder because he wielded a holy sword that could save the world.

However, Altair didn't have a holy sword. He had several lightsabers, but those couldn't really be considered holy swords.

"Altair-kun, do you have a holy sword?"

"No."

"Then why call yourself the Holy Sword Wielder?"

"I don't have one now, but that doesn't mean I won't have one in the future. I really want to have a holy sword one day."

"Altair-kun, holy swords are kind of difficult to come by."

"Indeed, you're unlikely to get your hands on one."

Hestia and Hephaestus both disagreed with Altair's statement.

"Oh? Why is that?"

Altair was curious.

"The so-called holy sword is a weapon wielded by legendary heroes, but these weapons are not something humans can forge. They are weapons created by the gods and given to humans, which is why they are called holy swords. In reality, holy swords are divine weapons. The highest-grade weapons that adventurers or other humans in Orario can possess are magic swords."

Hephaestus, being the Goddess of Smithing, had the authority to speak on this.

"The weapons that adventurers in Orario can use are limited. To ensure that adventurers from all Familias can utilize their own strength, we gods won't provide overly powerful weapons. If the weapons were too powerful, adventurers would become overly reliant on them. The Falna we give is meant to draw out human potential, step by step. Weapons are external tools, not part of one's inherent potential. If an adventurer depends too much on their weapons, they become less important. This goes against our purpose."

Familia and Falna are essentially meant to enhance a person's natural strength, so the upper limit of an adventurer's weapon is a magic sword.

If divine weapons were handed out left and right, it would undermine the challenge. In mythologies, many heroes annihilated their enemies using divine weapons... especially in the case of Indian mythology, as some might know.

"So, in Orario, I won't be able to obtain a holy sword?"

"That's right. Unless a god is willing to forge one for you."

"Hephaestus-sama, could you forge a holy sword?"

Altair looked at Hephaestus, thinking that as the Goddess of Smithing, she could surely make one.

"I can indeed forge a holy sword, but I won't forge one for you."

"Hephaestus, can't you make one for Altair-kun?"

"No, I can't. It's not just about making a holy sword; it's about the fairness of Orario. If I made you a holy sword, it would break the balance and be unfair to all other adventurers."

Hephaestus firmly explained to Hestia.

"I understand."

Altair nodded seriously. To be honest, he did think about asking Hephaestus to help make a holy sword. Although his current weapons, which he crafted himself, worked well, he had a gut feeling that in this world, he'd eventually need to switch to more mystical types of weapons... holy swords or magic swords, at least one of them.

And since he currently resembled Arthur Pendragon, wielding a holy sword would naturally be the best fit.

"So, forget about the holy sword, and you definitely won't be able to get the title Holy Sword Wielder."

"Then how about King of Knights?"

"You think I don't know the story of King Arthur? No chance!"

That made sense. After all, even outside of Orario, there was the story of King Arthur and Merlin. So, there was no way he could get those titles.

But why was Fionn's story absent when Merlin and King Arthur's legend existed? The fact that Finn from Loki's Familia was around didn't sit well with him.

"What a pity."

"So, Altair-kun, have you thought of any other title? Something more natural?"

"I can't think of anything for now. I'll figure it out later."

Altair shrugged. He was terrible at coming up with names.

"I can't think of a title for myself yet, but I've already thought of one for Saeko in the future."

"My title?"

Saeko, who had been quiet throughout the gathering, was surprised. Aside from introducing herself to Hephaestus at the beginning, she had barely spoken. It had mainly been Hestia and Hephaestus talking, with Altair joining in when the topic shifted to him. Now, suddenly, the focus was on her.

"That's right. I've already come up with your title; Sword Demon. How about it?"

"Sword Demon… I think it's great."

"Oh! That name suits Saeko perfectly!"

Both Hestia and Saeko nodded in satisfaction.

Saeko was very pleased with the title Altair had given her. Her innate skill was called Sword Demon, and she was a powerful swordswoman. When fighting with a sword, she entered a bloodthirsty state, so being called Sword Demon was quite fitting.

For a girl, this title might seem a bit unflattering, but Saeko didn't mind. In fact, she saw it as Altair's recognition of her skills.

"You all really don't care about anyone else, do you? She just joined the Familia, and you're already planning her Level 2 title?"

Hephaestus, watching them casually decide Saeko's future title, couldn't help but chime in.

"By the way, Hephaestus-sama, do you have a suitable weapon for Saeko?"

Since they were in a world of swords and magic, Saeko needed a proper weapon. The lightsaber she'd been using wasn't quite her style. It had been useful for cutting down zombies in the Highschool of the Dead world, but she'd always found it awkward to wield. Even Altair himself felt like the lightsaber was unwieldy... it could easily cut the wielder by accident.

So, finding Saeko a katana was something Altair needed to do.

"She's from the lineage of Takemikazuchi, so she likely prefers a katana. If that's the case, I happen to have a good one in my workshop."

Hephaestus smiled at Altair.

"But the price won't be cheap."

Altair smiled back.

"Money is not an issue!"
