Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Rewind to death
In an instant,
Fang Xiu felt as though he had fallen into an icy abyss!
"You can see me?!"
What will happen if you can see me?!
His mind was in chaos, struggling to process, but his wife gave him no time to think.
Crack.
The sound of breaking porcelain echoed.
His wife's once flawless, pale skin began to crack, and in the blink of an eye, a multitude of black, dense fissures spread across her body, as though she had shattered like porcelain.
From within these cracks, the sound of flowing water emerged, and crimson blood, wriggling like worms, seeped out from the gaps.
Her long, smooth hair began to move, twisting and writhing like black serpents, wildly thrashing in the air.
"You can see me!!" A terrifying, inhuman roar erupted from her mouth.
Her once delicate cherry lips stretched grotesquely to her earlobes, her straight teeth now jagged like a saw, and inside her mouth, another mouth seemed to emerge, as though her throat had grown a second mouth.
Fear, like a tide, surged through Fang Xiu's body, and he stiffened uncontrollably, his mind going blank.
In the next moment, the shadow of death loomed large.
A massive, blood-red maw descended toward Fang Xiu's head.
His vision went black, an icy, slippery, suffocating sensation engulfing him as his head was consumed by his wife's mouth.
Then, an unimaginable pain exploded through his body...
Fang Xiu, dead!
The scene was a horrifying one.
A seemingly inhuman entity had bitten off Fang Xiu's head in one swift motion.
The decapitated body did not immediately fall, but from the neck, a torrent of blood sprayed out, soaking the bed like a fountain.
However, the very next moment, the surrounding space seemed to shatter like glass, and everything returned to nothingness.
...
"Don't let them know you can see!"
"Don't let them know you can see!!!"
Above the white ceiling, blood-red words appeared, as though someone had written them with a finger, dripping with blood.
Fang Xiu, in a deep sleep, suddenly jolted awake, sitting up with a start.
Cold sweat covered his forehead, his breaths coming in ragged gasps, eyes filled with terror.
What happened? Didn't I die? Was that just a dream?
This was the first thought that crossed his mind. However, as his eyes fixed upon the blood-red words on the ceiling, his body froze.
"Don't let them know you can see?!"
D*mn it! This isn't a dream!
Fang Xiu stared at the words on the ceiling, and before his very eyes, the blood-red text suddenly vanished, as if it had been erased by something.
Gone again!
Could this be a hint?
Telling him to pretend to be blind? No! That's not right; the original owner of this body wasn't blind, he was just an ordinary person, and in his memories, he had never seen his wife.
He had always lived alone, an entirely normal life, never seeing or hearing anyone else at home. Perhaps it was this normalcy that kept him from being killed, just as he had.
So, the meaning of "Don't let them know you can see" was... don't let his wife know that he can see her. Pretend that she doesn't exist!
Only by living like the original owner—normal and alone, pretending not to see or hear anything—could he avoid death.
At that moment, a soft, tender voice echoed from outside the bedroom.
"Darling, it's time for breakfast."
The voice was so gentle, tinged with affection, enough to stir one's imagination.
Yet, for Fang Xiu, it only brought fear, a fear that overwhelmed him.
The terror of having his head bitten off once again flooded his mind.
Instinctively, he wanted to run, but escape was impossible.
His wife had already entered the bedroom.
Still wearing the white silk camisole nightgown, her skin as pale as ever, her smile as gentle as time itself.
"Darling, you're awake. It's time for breakfast," she smiled tenderly.
The shadow of death loomed large again. He was just an ordinary man—he had never experienced anything this bizarre, let alone had his head bitten off by something inhuman.
But this time, he fought back his fear, lowering his gaze to his blanket, trying to pretend, just like the blood-red text had suggested, that he couldn't see his wife.
However, his wife had no intention of following any rules. She bent down, her slender waist lowering towards his pants, until her face was nearly touching the blanket. Then, she lifted her head and smiled at him gently.
In that moment, their eyes locked, and the air froze.
The next second, his wife's eyes erupted with a horrifying surprise, and her gentle smile twisted into something grotesque.
"You can see me!"
Once again, Fang Xiu became a headless corpse.
...
"Don't let them know you can see!"
The blood-red words once again pierced Fang Xiu's vision, and he leaped out of bed, gasping for air.
"D*mn it, that vile woman!"
The anger rose within him, fueling his frustration after yet another death.
Had he died and come back to life? Was this an infinite loop? A death reset? A restart at the beginning each time he died, like a saved game in a video game?
When he had looked down to avoid her, she had come to him, confirming his suspicion: she needed to be sure he could see her before she acted.
Fang Xiu's mind raced.
Just then, a soft voice appeared again.
"Darling, it's time for breakfast."
His wife, smiling gently, walked into the room.
This time, Fang Xiu immediately grabbed his phone, pretending to scroll through short videos, watching provocative dances from the "Black SI" models, though even the most provocative ones couldn't stir any interest in him now.
He was drenched in cold sweat.
"Darling, why are you watching other women right in front of me? Do you not like me anymore?"
"Like you, my *ss!" Fang Xiu mentally cursed.
He continued to scroll through the videos, deliberately holding his phone close to his face, blocking his view, hoping to avoid meeting her eyes.
"Darling, I know you're not nearsighted, so why hold the phone so close? Can you see me?"
Fang Xiu froze!
Was doing something unusual also not allowed?
But after speaking, his wife didn't immediately act.
This gave him a brief sense of relief.
However, as he flipped to the next video, his gaze froze once again.
Because the woman in the video... was his wife!
The video showed her smiling, her beauty radiant, "Darling, do I look good?"
Fang Xiu's pupils constricted, his eyes uncontrollably drawn to her face.
"You can see me!!"
"F**k!"
Fang Xiu shouted in fury and hurled his phone across the room, where it crashed against the wall, shattering into pieces.
But his wife was already approaching, her face twisted, her skin cracking, her mouth whispering over and over again: "You can see me! You can see me!"
"I see you, you b**ch!" Fang Xiu screamed.
With a surge of anger, he swung his fist at his wife's cracked face.
He had never thought he would become a man who hit his wife, and he had always hated that behavior.
But life had a strange way of making you live like the person you despised.
He threw the punch, but his hand hit something as solid as a wall, and with a sickening crack, his bones shattered.
His wife remained unscathed, her eyes glowing with wild greed. She didn't give him time to react before opening her massive mouth and biting off his arm.
"Ah!!"
The room echoed with his agonizing scream.
This time, Fang Xiu's death was more brutal than ever. At least in the previous deaths, it had been a swift, clean kill. But this time, he was eaten piece by piece, his body devoured slowly.
Such a horrifying, unnatural experience was something no normal person should ever endure—watching an eerie, inhuman entity devour your own body, inch by agonizing inch, until death.
