Chapter 527: You Were Holding Back!
It was the many years of internal competition and lack of true familial connections that made Yuhe into the person she was today. She had trained tirelessly every single day to improve her strength and comprehend the Elements, managing to acquire the Primary Law of Water by the age of sixteen.
She fought with her elders in several private gardens and personal training rooms, learning their personal and secret techniques until they acknowledged her.
Yuhe's hard work and determination paid off when she broke through to the Ascension Realm. Before this point, Yuhe only had four Magic Affinities, of the Water, Earth, Darkness, and Light Elements. It wasn't bad by all means, but when her World Seed formed, she gained a whopping eleven more Affinities, including the Space Element.
When Yuhe next reported to her parents, they were overjoyed and presented her to the Family Head, subsequently enrolling her in Filem Academy for Excellents. In the course of a few days, Yuhe went from nobody status to a valued member of the Family.
But she hadn't forgotten how they once treated her. If Yuhe failed her in this battle against William, would they discard her from the Family like trash? To her, there was more at stake than just a silly wager.
That's why I can't lose! Yuhe gritted her teeth and withdrew an expensive-looking pair of thin needles with tiny balls at the end for finer control. She controlled the Primary Law of Water to restrain William in one spot, then expertly threw each needle until they pierced through each of his hands. Continue reading at empire
At the moment of impact, Yuhe shouted "Twin Needles Technique: Strength Reflection!"
The needles were small and lightweight, but the moment those words were uttered from Yuhe's mouth, they became as heavy as a million tons of lead. From feathers to lead, the velocity was so high that it almost matched William's Stormlight Blink Spell.
The change happened mere instants before the needles landed, so William misjudged how much time he needed to dodge. Before he knew it, William's hands were pinned to the back wall of the Boss Room.
Now, not only could William not resist the Primary Law of Water, but he couldn't move his arms! He flailed his legs from left to right, but it wasn't enough to break free. On close inspection of the needles, William realized they too were made from Starmetal, and they were inscribed with powerful Arrays of unknown strength.
At this point, the Accelerated Reflexes effect became annoying because it slowed down time when William had no chance to dodge or block. What was the point of extreme reflexes if the attacks couldn't be dealt with?
Before William could plan out an escape from his current predicament, Arrays inscribed on the Starmetal needles activated, encasing William in a small box made from Tier 7 or maybe even Tier 8 Arrays. Their increased size helped him better identify their strength, but it didn't mean he could deal with them.
He also didn't need the System to know that his chances of breaking through were now zero. William checked for weaknesses by banging on each side of the Array Formation, but there were none.
"You've lost." Yuhe walked up to William calmly, dispersing her Primary Law of Water in the process. She felt bad for resorting to a lifesaving treasure meant to stop Deity Realm Cultivators, but William was just too strong!
She worried that she'd still lose even if she used her other stored Laws. There were only two remaining, and her chances of winning the Lower Bracket of the Competition would drop to zero if she let those go to waste.
William tried to teleport out of the Arrays with the Space Element, but the area was blocked off and he could only teleport from within his little box. He already expected this outcome, but it was worth a shot.
He sighed, "I wouldn't really call this losing…"
"I know. Neither would I if I was in your shoes." Yuhe nodded, all traces of her usual arrogance gone. "Come with me."
Yuhe opened a portal that pulled both William and his Array Formation to the Eighth Floor. Having explored it in its entirety, William instantly recognized it as a hidden room in one of the obscure corners of the floor.
It wasn't just any hidden room, though. It was a hidden room nested behind another hidden room. William had only found this location because of his Navigation Talent, but Yuhe had somehow done the same without such an overpowered skill.
She had obviously visited several Dungeons before, since no first-timer would have found this type of hidden room.
"Now we can talk without anyone hearing us. I'm not letting you out just yet, though." Yuhe said as she opened her Space Ring and brought out several clear glass orbs. William didn't need Mana Mode active to know that they had none.
She started, "I never would have expected a Commoner from the Mortal Realms to push me that far. Especially not one the same age as me… You must have been through a lot."
Yuhe idly rolled one of the glass orbs on the floor like a cat lazily playing with yarn, "As much as I want to take advantage of our deal and have you be my slave for a week, I think I want to make another deal, if you're willing."
Her words were surprisingly kind despite how she normally acted. William listened quietly, not planning to say anything until Yuhe revealed her true thoughts.
"So instead of being my slave, I want you to help me recover the Spells that I've lost. If you do this for me, we can call it a draw and I'll even help everyone climb the Quake Dungeon."
William felt no reason to decline Yuhe's deal, nodding without hesitation. "Are you sure? You did win, after all."
"Hahahaha! Don't lie to me, you had so much strength in reserve, I felt like I was sparring with my Family Head!" Yuhe couldn't hold back her laughter. If she claimed to be stronger than her grandfather for landing a single blow, Yuhe would have embarrassed herself.
How was the fight against William any different?
