Chapter 524: How Much Mana Do You Have?!

William jumped into the air and performed a triple somersault over the molten glass, precisely controlling his Mana at the same time. Before his maneuver peaked, meter-thick plates of earth protruded from the walls and became solid footholds for William to stand.

Below him, the Earth Domain clashed with Yuhe's combined Fire/Earth Domain that was several times weaker. It only took a few seconds before Yuhe was once again on the back foot, forced to focus her two Domains on defense.

William couldn't help but sigh at Yuhe's actions. She started the fight off flawlessly, countering his Spells with equal or less effort than he himself used. If their skills were perfectly matched, she would have pushed William to a dangerous position immediately.

It was too bad that this wasn't the case. Her Cultivation was higher than his, but he had a significant advantage in both Mana Reserves and Magic ability. He blinked several times to turn on Mana Mode, checking out Yuhe's current condition.

Huh? She hasn't used any Mana? William couldn't believe what he was seeing.

From his perspective, Yuhe's Mana Reserves seemed completely full. Instead, all of the Mana originated from the shards of red and brown stained glass in Yuhe's hand, which were still fueling her dual Domains.

The Domains were actually artificial!

"How are you doing that?" William asked with surprise. If this was a formal competition, William might have called her out for cheating, but they had made no such agreements before the start of the battle. If this continued, he'd have to fight with who knew how many Cultivators worth of special treasures.

"Beat me and I'll tell you!" Yuhe shouted while crushing two glass balls stained dark green and blue respectively. The Plant and Water Domains appeared from her position and stacked on top of the other two Domains.

The Water Mana saturated William's Earth Domain and weakened it, while the Plant Domain spread vines across the entire Boss Room. The vines grew in size as they absorbed the sparse nutrients contained within the sand, wrapping around his Earth Domain and crushing it from the outside.

Four Domains were required before they finally overpowered William's, putting the two at a temporary standstill. It had been a while since several Domains were used at once and his Earth Element was stronger now, so William took a peek at his Status to keep better track of his Mana.

-Mana: 103.41m/126.72m

I have so much left. At least I won't have to worry about running out... He guessed without putting much thought into it.

Several minutes passed in the exact same position. While sweat dripped down Yuhe's forehead from maintaining four Domains simultaneously, William's expression couldn't be any more relaxed. His singular Domain was able to deal with everything Yuhe had thrown at him so far, effortlessly! Find more chapters on empire

"His Earth Element is insane! Could he be hiding a Territory?!" Nihlo exclaimed in awe. He was an A-Rank Earth Mage that had the potential to reach SSR-Rank someday, but forget William's Domain, Yuhe's four Domains each seemed too strong for to be formed from simple S-Rank Elements!

While chatter erupted amongst the group of students, William was keeping close eye on his condition, unsure of how long his clash against Yuhe would be.

But what he saw amidst the Status window left William speechless.

-Mana: 103.42m/126.72m

It went up?!? William realized he had been stupid to worry about his Mana Reserves. He was actually regenerating Mana... while his current most-powerful Domain was active!

It was an Ascended E-Rank Talent, and a Legendary Rarity at that. Obviously, there was enough Mana to maintain a single Common Domain, even if it was from an Ascended Affinity.

If William didn't have the Mana Dominator Talent, his Mana Reserves wouldn't be much higher than 150 thousand. Even if Yuhe had exceptional upbringing and loads of resources, he couldn't be sure that her Mana Reserves were more than one million in total.

Not only this, but his Mana Regeneration was eight hundred times more than what it should be. A normal Cultivator would be losing swaths of Mana just for maintaining a single Domain. They weren't made for prolonged fights.

Yuhe seemed to have caught William's expression, but a smirk suggested she mistook his surprise for worry. Clearly a battle of attrition had been on her mind from the start.

She's probably thinking "if he's using such a powerful Domain, it must consume a lot of Mana. I've got this fight in the bag!"

William knew Yuhe wasn't losing Mana from this clash either, but there had to be a trick to these stacked Domains. They couldn't last forever.

She can't, but I can! William covered his mouth with a hand, concealing a wide smile from Yuhe as his Mana regenerated by several thousand per minute.

He hoped to keep her in the dark for as long as possible. His advantage would end the moment she realized he could last longer than her.

Neither Yuhe nor William remained inactive while the Domains clashed. Both parties launched long-range Spells at each other that would cripple most of the other students besides a select few, and both dodged and blocked just as easily.

Yuhe continued to crush oddly-shaped objects, whether they were in ball form or looked like short glowsticks. Their shapes were just as irregular as their effects when the object released its imbued Mana.

Each crushed object became a powerful Spell that didn't require Yuhe's organic Mana, while William swapped from using Magic to slicing projectiles in two with a Starmetal Shortsword to make it look like he was conserving Mana. He paired the Starmetal Shortsword with a Starmetal Shield, both of which were created from Earth Mana during the fight.

The appearance of Starmetal weapons left the students with an entirely new wave of surprise, but it wasn't an unthinkable outcome. Starmetal was regarded as one of the most sought-after materials that wasn't classified as an Ascended Material. It existed in both the Ascended and Mortal Realms, equally as rare in both as long as it wasn't harvested from the Void.

Since William was from the Mortal Realms, they assumed he learned some special method long before. It wouldn't be the first time a rare material was reproduced by a Spell.

William was too focused on his battle with Yuhe to think about how the other students were reacting. He sent a dozen regular Comet Pellets to clash with a thousand incoming Wind Blades, setting off some gunpowder that he packed inside them moments before.

Explosions shook the Boss Room while the Wind Mana couldn't hold the form of a blade any longer, cancelling out Yuhe's Spell and making her grit her teeth in anger.

"There's no way you still have this much Mana! I'll take you down right now!" she shouted as another ball was crushed, forming the Domain of Darkness that reduced William's visibility by roughly twenty percent.

She pressed her temporary advantage by firing several dozen sneaky Wind Blades amidst other attacks, probing William's blind spots for weaknesses. Unfortunately for her, William's Accelerated Reflexes Bonus Effect triggered every time, granting him ample time to dodge.

Thirty more minutes passed like this, each exchange frustrating Yuhe to no end.

While William was completely unharmed and had hardly used any attacks, Yuhe checked her Space Ring to find that half her stock of stored Spells was gone!
