Chapter 364: Purple Snake Lightning

"As you wish, Master William." Uri said, although he was very happy. With a powerhouse like William traveling along with him, there was a high chance that he could learn what truly happened to the Dragons of Dragon Continent.

His first trip to the Dragon Continent had left some emotional scars in his heart that would take a long time to heal. If he were a human, his condition might be described as slight Cultivation Deviation.

He wanted to know what the humans were doing on the Dragon Continent, how the dragons disappeared in the first place, and whether they were still alive. Only after these three questions were answered could he be satisfied.

"Before we go back, I need to visit Master. It's on the way, so we won't be wasting much time." William said as he opened a series of large long-distance portal that would take them directly to the entrance of the Gravitas Ruins.

With the help of the Artifact Belt and his Cultivation in the Nascent Soul Realm, William's S-Rank Space Element was able to cross the entire ocean in one go, though he couldn't quite bridge the gap to the Gravitas Ruins or Providence Zone, yet.

He left Uri outside to wait for a while, entering the Ruins and teleporting directly to Riyald's laboratory. Before the Superior Tribulation could descend, William used the Illusion Element to better conceal his presence while maintaining his original form.

Outside the Gravitas Ruins, this wouldn't work at all, but since the Ruins were built with many Arrays designed for concealment already, the effects stacked well and allowed William to shift the Superior Tribulation's attention away for a while.

He scanned his surroundings and released a sigh. Waiting for William in the laboratory was a series of improved crossbows that sent Soul Formation-level attacks repeatedly at William, their bolts whizzing through the air before William had even finished casting his Illusion Magic.

"Oh, come on Master. You should know these can't hurt me." William said calmly. He opened the Forcefield Talent and allowed each of the bolts to land harmlessly on its surface, the poison-tipped bolts unable to reach his real body.

"Are you sure about that?" Riyald released a cynical laugh as a panel slid away from the ceiling to reveal a harpoon gun fitted with some sort of purple lightning in a jar. Stay updated through empire

The harpoon fired directly at William, the jar exploding in midair to release a bolt of snake-like lightning that resembled Atticus' form. The bolt expanded in midair, reaching a length of two hundred meters in an instant and flooding the room with bright purple light.

The bolt shattered William's Forcefield in an instant and slammed into William's body, covering him in its entirety as it split into tiny Lightning Mana Particles that wormed their way through the miniscule gaps in William's skin cells.

Moments later, William felt a slight jolt from his internal organs, while Riyald appeared in front of him through one of his Portal Stones, wearing a wide grin as he looked at his Disciple. "So? What do you think?"

"I think you're a god damned maniac! How did you even come up with this, and why? Just to torture me?" William was enraged by the tiny bolts of Lightning that did little damage but would spark every few seconds to remind him they were still inside his body.

Riyald raised his left hand to reveal a purple and silver ring. "I call it Purple Snake Lightning, after your little Companion Beast. Since I don't have to worry so much about my enemies, I went out for a while and explored a Ruin of the Yu Royal Family's that I wasn't able to explore before.

The Ruin was cleared out a long time ago, but some of the traps are still active. I was especially interested in a certain trap that modified the Lightning Element slightly and changed its color, though it's only for visual effect and has no impact on the Lightning's quality.

What really interested me, though, was the secondary set of Arrays that broke apart the Spell and reformed it before hitting you. Since Mana Particles are so small, they can technically break past any defense..." he continued rambling for what seemed like an eternity, but William understood the general idea at this point.

"So, you can use Lightning Magic now?" William asked.

"Huh? No, this is merely the effects of my Artifacts. I can only cast this Spell once before exhausting the entire Mana pool. Although you could charge it for me in a few minutes since you have the Lightning Affinity." he looked at William with a pleading gaze.

"No." William said. "You just attacked me, and now I'm supposed to charge your Spell? I'm still being attacked, what if I died?!"

"You? Die? You're hilarious. If you could die so easily, I think you would've been killed by my Trials long ago." Riyald laughed. William was the best test subject; how could he not take advantage of his powerful Disciple for a little experiment?"

"Maybe not, but don't you fear for your own life?" William narrowed his eyes at his insufferable Master. He had forgotten Riyald's true character was like this.

"Alright, my young and powerful Disciple. You're right, but aren't you impressed? If I can make more of these, my combat strength might rise to a new level! It's a huge achievement, and I have you to thank for it!"

"Well, that's good, because I went to the Velos Continent and the Soul Cultivation Technique you wanted is much more complicated than we expected. You won't be able to learn it." William explained with a sigh.

"I can learn anything! Let me see it."

"I can't show you."

"Why not?" Riyald asked, "What's wrong with the Technique?"

"Apparently only one person can use it, it's the Soul Inheritance Technique. Are you familiar with it?"

"Never heard of it. What do you mean only one person can use it?" Riyald was confused, though he had half an idea given the Technique's name.

"It takes the Soul Strength of the previous user and gives it to the next." William explained in short.

"Ah... then I suppose it really is impossible..." Riyald looked down in disappointment. He was really riding on being able to Ascend with Soul Strength, but the Soul Inheritance Technique had already been inherited.

System, is there another way to help out my Master?

-Request requires 730 Potential Points. Yes/No?

Confirm.

The System sent William a long series of messages, informing him of a particular process that would be able to help Riyald if performed correctly.

"But I have an idea, Master." William said suddenly, giving Riyald some hope.

"What is it, my Disciple? Say it quickly."

"Do you have any enemies on the Dragon Continent?"

"The Dragon Continent? What's this about? Of course I have enemies, but I'm not sure where they are at this point in time."

"Oh, right." William realized. "Come with me to the Dragon Continent anyway, maybe we'll find some enemies of yours."

"Why are we looking for my enemies? And you still haven't explained what your idea is. Get on with it!"

"It's simple." William said. "You like stealing, right? We're going to steal some souls."
