Chapter 5 - The World of the Divine Eagle
Chapter 5: The World of the Divine Eagle
In the heavens, electricity flashed, and thunder roared.
In the void, a blinding bolt of lightning split the darkness, its deafening rumble shaking the sky. The lightning slashed through the void and crashed onto the sea’s surface. In an instant, electric energy surged across the waters, and countless fish floated lifelessly to the top.
From where the lightning had torn the sky, a small white flame flickered into existence. Dim and faint, it wavered as though it would be extinguished at any moment. The fierce winds howled, carrying the fragile flame along its currents, drifting further and further forward.
In the suffocating darkness of the night, the white flame gleamed like a lone star, illuminating its surroundings as it continued its descent. The wind carried it toward a secluded island, one that resembled a celestial paradise.
On the island, among lush greenery, stood a bamboo house. Within it, a breathtakingly beautiful woman stood motionless. The moment she appeared in the flame’s sight, it surged forward with newfound urgency, as if drawn to her by an irresistible force.
Rumble!
Another bolt of lightning tore through the void, its brilliant flash illuminating the woman’s delicate features. Her eyes fluttered closed in response to the sudden brightness.
In that brief instant, the white flame slipped into her slightly parted lips, disappearing into her body without a trace.
This flame was none other than Imperial Sky. He had lingered in the void for an untold time, surviving only on the remnants of celestial treasures and elixirs. Now, drained of power, he had finally descended into this world.
Imperial Sky had reached the brink of annihilation. In desperation, he had sought a means to survive. The vast sky offered no refuge—until he saw her. At that moment, he knew his salvation had come. Without hesitation, he rushed into the woman’s body, embedding himself within her.
Exhausted beyond measure, he drifted into slumber within the sanctuary of her womb. Yet, he knew that when he was reborn, the heavens and earth would tremble.
—
Time passed.
On this day, Imperial Sky slowly opened his eyes, but the world around him remained shrouded in darkness. His spiritual senses stirred, reaching outward, and in that instant, he understood—he had become an infant.
A wave of satisfaction washed over him as he willed his tiny limbs to move. I have finally been reborn. After enduring countless tribulations, I have succeeded.
Steadying his emotions, he turned his focus inward. His spiritual power, though once nearly depleted, had recovered significantly. Deep within his soul, nestled in his spiritual sea, a white flame burned faintly.
This is the ‘Bone Spirit Cold Fire’ from the Fighting Dome… Though its aura has weakened greatly, its essence remains. With time and effort, I will restore its former brilliance.
Content with his discoveries, Imperial Sky allowed himself to drift back into slumber. His newborn body required rest, and he would not risk damaging it with reckless haste.
Even so, a flicker of gratitude stirred within him. Though the Bone Spirit Cold Fire had lost much of its power, it had retained its unique properties. Had it not been for the celestial treasures he had consumed in the void, the flame would have perished entirely.
—
Time flowed on.
Imperial Sky remained dormant for a long while. On this day, he slowly awakened once more. His spiritual energy spread outward, scanning his surroundings.
I did not expect to be reborn as a baby… but I have yet to be born. I still do not know what kind of world this is—or my own identity.
Through his spiritual probe, he perceived the figures near him.
A stunning woman with pink, delicate skin and a soft cherry mouth. Her beauty was unparalleled. Beside her stood a man with thick brows, large eyes, and an ordinary, rugged face. Though his appearance was plain, his eyes gleamed with an unmistakable sharpness.
The images imprinted themselves in Imperial Sky’s mind, and he silently mused, So, these are my parents. My mother is a great beauty, while my father is… rather plain.
Just as he was about to retract his senses, another presence entered his awareness.
A man dressed in flowing green robes stepped into the space. His black-and-white hair was streaked with silver, and a faintly sinister aura radiated from him, adding an air of mystery to his charm.
At his arrival, the woman’s face lit up. Her voice carried a hint of playful affection. “Father, you are here.”
The rugged man beside her scratched the back of his head with a goofy grin. “Father-in-law.”
The robed man merely snorted in response before turning to his daughter. “Rong’er, you are nearing childbirth. How could I not come?”
The woman’s cheeks flushed with warmth. “Father.”
The green-robed elder stepped forward, taking her wrist with practiced ease. “Let me take your pulse.”
Beside them, the rugged man grinned foolishly. “Father-in-law is wise.”
The elder scoffed. “And you are still standing here? Go prepare some Qi-nourishing herbs!”
Momentarily stunned, the man let out a chuckle before hurrying outside.
“Hmph…!” The elder exhaled sharply, muttering, “How did my precious daughter end up marrying such a fool? What a disgrace.”
The woman sighed softly, but the elder quickly dismissed his complaints. “Enough of that, Rong’er. Let me focus.”
She nodded in response.
Moments later, the elder’s expression shifted to one of delight. A rare smile curved his lips. “Excellent, excellent… It seems I will soon have two fine grandsons.”
The woman’s eyes shone with joy.
Imperial Sky listened intently, absorbing every word. His mind whirled.
If I still do not understand where I am now, I might as well have been reborn in vain.
Then, realization struck.
I never expected to find myself in the Divine Eagle World… My current identity must be that of Guo Jing and Huang Rong’s child.
