Chapter 2
Chapter 2 I Should Be Possible To Change The Standards To Enter Your College, Right?
“What happened with the medical examination? It should be over now, so what are the results? What happened?” My mom asks multiple times, stumping me.
How do I respond to this?
The physical examination was over, but I did not even participate. I gather up my thoughts and am about to speak when my mom talks before me.
“Son, why are you not saying anything? It is about that, isn’t it? My son, your grandfather’s lifelong wish is for someone in the family to fly the most advanced jet in the country and add prestige to our name. You may have failed now, but that is okay since it is already over,” my Mom says.
“Also, I heard that your school has advised you to drop out since you often skip classes? This is a lie, right?”
“No, it is real,” I reply.
Good students do not leave the school while bad students are left behind.
The school had tried to persuade me to quit, but I did not expect that even Mother would know about this. It is something that I had not thought of. It is obviously worse to be dismissed by the school than failing the Air Force Enlistment.
“Mom, I will explain why I dropped out later,” I say.
There are just some things that I can’t explain over the phone. It is just not easy to say.
“Good,” Mother says.
Mom did not mean to blame me. She knows that I get good grades even as a child and I have strong self-discipline. Although I never went to a prestigious university for college since I had missed some courses, I could have been a proper scientist. This is the impression that I think my mother has of me.
I was persuaded by the school to drop out because I skipped too many classes. Mom knew that there was another reason, but she did not ask for the details over the phone. She knew I cannot explain it at this time.
“If you want to quit this school, you can do that. But my son, you still have to go to college. In today’s society, high income, wealth, or status may not be guaranteed, but you cannot get a job without it,” Mom explains. “You also may not be able to give me a daughter-in-law. You are so smart. Take a break for a year then take the college entrance exam again. Go to Daxia’s number one university. I know it is better than this school.”
My mother is pretty open and did not become angry because I dropped out of school. Instead, she asked me to study for a year to get a better entrance exam score.
“I will consider it. Do not tell Grandpa about the Air Force Exam for the time being. I am afraid he will be sad,” I told Mother.
I tirelessly listen to my mom’s teachings. I had never considered studying, but since Mom brought it up, it is obviously a bad idea to refuse her. As for Grandpa, I am really worried that he would fall ill. I still remember when my grandmother told me about my father not participating in the recruitment, and how Grandpa almost died on the spot. If I, the third generation, did not become a recruit, the old man may really pass on.
“I know. Do not worry. Your grandfather does not know about you going to participate in the exam, so let us personally tell him when you come back.”
“Okay.”
Mom hangs up the phone, but my mood is now a little complicated. My research was successful, but it caused many people to be hurt. Even if Mother said she was calm, I know her well since I am her son. It is just that we are so tacit and unwilling to tell our hearts.
“The Air Force… Apart from participating in the recruitment, is there a shortcut I can take?”
“It would take too long to wait another year. There is also no guarantee that I will not miss it again because of different events.” I just keep muttering to myself and subconsciously touch my head. In the next moment, a thought flashes through my mind, and a grin appears on my face.
“A few years ago, Daxia was preparing to study the Second Generation Aero Engine. So far, there has been no news. It is obvious that it is progressing slowly, and there may not even be any results up until now,” I say as my thoughts become clearer and clearer.
“If the engine has not been developed yet and I send the third generation over, I should be able to transfer over to the Flight Command Academy, right?”
The more I thought about it, the more I felt it is a feasible plan. Besides, I studied the engine to strengthen the country and army, so I should be able to teach them how to produce it in the future. It is better to use this opportunity to get a place in the Air Force!
“I can do this! The probability of this happening is very high!”
My smile started to stretch even further, and my steps began to accelerate as I rushed to where I live. I turn on the computer and search for the Daxia Air Force Military Flight Command Academy’s official website. I look for the email address of the college.
I write down the address, then edit and attach all of the information I have figured out about the engine. There are a lot of materials, and it takes up a lot of space. The upload speed is slower than expected. Taking advantage of the wasting time, I start editing the text box with instructions.
“My name is Qin. I have dropped out of my previous school, and hope to enter yours in order to learn how to be a fighter pilot.” After typing these words, the attachment finished uploading. I click send and breathe a sigh of relief after it shows it was sent successfully.
“This should work!”
I became a little nervous. Although the aero engine engineers and pilots can be related, their skills do not have to overlap. Pilots do not need to understand anything about how to build an engine.
12:00 PM
Daxia First Air Force Military Flight Command Academy.
A clerk who is responsible for cleaning the email box of the college just returned from dinner. He should be out for a walk now, but it is raining heavily. So, he opened up the emails for the college when he got back. He wants to clear out all the emails so that the rest of the afternoon will be saved. He just wants to forget about everything else and be done.
The Academy’s email usually does not receive any valuable emails. Many of them are just spam, but they take up a lot of space and are a trouble to clean up. Then he saw a subject titled ‘About The Pulse Detonation Engine…’
An aircraft engine? You’ve got to be kidding me. Like I would believe we could receive an email about something like this.
However, it was his responsibility to go through the emails, so he clicked on the email and read it for a while. At first, he did not think there was anything important in it, but after a while, the contents became more and more obscure. His expression became more incredulous before he got serious.
“This… Is this really the Pulse Detonation Engine?”
The saliva dried in his mouth. His actual academic qualifications are not low and he had graduated from the best school in Daxia, but even so, this is beyond his comprehension. He can only understand just a little bit of the beginning.
This is when he realized that this is not a scam. The other party really sent something good. Without another thought and not even knowing how accurate the information is, He got in contact with the dean as soon as he was able. He takes out his cell and rushes to contact the dean without going up the chain of command.
“Hey, hello. Who is this?” On the other side of the phone, Wanjun, the Dean of the Flight Command Academy, was heard.
“Dean, I am Liu. I am in charge of looking over the emails for the college. I received a very special email, and you need to see it for yourself.”
“Okay, I am in my office. Come here now.”
