In Naruto, the System Asks Me to Entrust Pokémon

Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Orochimaru's Arrival

"Killing them would be fun!"

Hearing Gaara's response, Baki, Temari, and Kankurō all shuddered.

The sheer bloodlust emanating from him was enough to make even Baki, a seasoned Jōnin, feel uneasy.

However, he quickly regained his composure and spoke, "Temari, about those creatures that come out of those balls, I've looked into them."

"Hmm?"

Temari turned to him with curiosity. "What did you find out?"

Baki didn't keep them in suspense. With a serious expression, he said, "They're called Pokémon, and even many ordinary people in Konoha have them."

"What?"

Kankurō's eyes widened. "Even regular people have them? Just how powerful is Konoha?"

As much as he hated to admit it, he knew how strong Slaking was after getting punched by it.

And now he was being told that such creatures were common in Konoha?

Has Konoha gone insane?

Baki shook his head. "They're not exclusive to Konoha. It seems there's a store here selling them, but I haven't found out exactly where yet."

"Then, Baki-sensei, can you investigate further?"

Temari's eyes lit up with interest as she looked at Baki expectantly.

Baki furrowed his brows slightly but then responded, "Temari, I know what you're thinking. But even you said these creatures are extraordinary. Konoha won't just let us have them."

Temari shook her head. "Baki-sensei, I understand that, but I still want to try."

Baki was silent for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I'll look into it."

"Uh…"

At that moment, Kankurō hesitated before speaking. "Investigating this… will it interfere with our mission?"

Hearing this, Temari also turned to Baki, suddenly realizing she hadn't considered that aspect.

Baki shook his head. "It won't. Many people in Konoha already know where to catch Pokémon. As long as we're careful, it won't affect our mission."

"Heh—"

Suddenly, Gaara let out a cold chuckle. "Konoha's shinobi are pathetic. Instead of honing their own skills, they rely on Pokémon."

To him, it was utterly laughable.

He had seen Slaking's power earlier. While it might be strong against Genin, to him, it was nothing more than an insignificant insect.

"Gaara, you're wrong."

Baki turned to him. "Pokémon are more powerful than you think. Based on what I've learned, their potential is immense—some can even surpass Konoha's Hokage."

"Baki-sensei, you're joking, right?"

Both Temari and Kankurō stared at him in disbelief.

Even Gaara's expression shifted slightly as he looked at Baki.

Baki nodded. "It's true. I only heard rumors, but they're convincing. Even when other shinobi heard about it, they didn't deny it."

Temari and Kankurō were speechless.

They had already thought Pokémon were unusual, but they never imagined they could be this powerful.

Some could even reach Kage-level strength?

Their shock was quickly replaced by an intense curiosity.

Gaara, on the other hand, smirked, his bloodlust intensifying. "Pokémon, huh? Now I really want to kill a few."

Pokémon House

At that moment, an intriguing guest had arrived at the small wooden shop where Ryo worked.

Standing before him was an unusual yet strangely alluring figure—a woman with piercing snake-like eyes.

Her eerie vertical pupils exuded a chilling aura.

However, Ryo wasn't fazed in the slightest. Instead, his eyes were filled with amusement.

After all, how could he not recognize this person?

This was none other than Orochimaru—the legendary Konoha scientist, the undertaker of Hokages, the ruler of graveyards… Snake Dude himself!

"Shopkeeper, you sell Pokémon here, correct? May I take a look at them?"

Orochimaru's voice was smooth, but there was a hint of wariness in his gaze as he observed Ryo's reaction.

Does he recognize me?

For a brief moment, Orochimaru considered the possibility.

But upon reflection, he realized he had never seen this man before. He relaxed slightly and smiled.

"Of course."

Ryo returned the smile. "But, do you know the rules of my shop?"

He was quite intrigued by Orochimaru.

Despite all the horrible things he had done—perfecting Edo Tensei, indirectly leading to the Fourth Great Ninja War—one couldn't deny his brilliance.

He was a rare kind of genius, one who carved his own path in a world dominated by bloodline limits.

Had it not been for Orochimaru, the Boruto era of the Naruto world would never have advanced technologically as it did.

Of course, Orochimaru had no idea what Ryo was thinking. He simply nodded. "I understand the rules. No need for an explanation."

"Good," Ryo nodded. "Just head to the back mountain."

"Thank you."

Orochimaru handed over his payment and walked toward the designated area, his curiosity thoroughly piqued by the information he had received from Danzo.

Upon reaching the back area, Orochimaru's eyes widened at the sight of two Pokémon training—a Dragonite and a Gardevoir.

His pupils constricted.

He had read Danzo's reports, which claimed that Pokémon were incredibly powerful.

At the time, he dismissed the claims as paranoia, thinking Danzo had simply grown old and overly cautious.

But now that he saw them firsthand…

He was wrong.

His sharp instincts immediately recognized that both Pokémon were at least on par with him in strength.

Dragonite, in particular, was clearly far stronger.

Even from a distance, its sheer presence sent a chill down his spine.

Roar?

Sensing his gaze, Dragonite turned to look at Orochimaru.

For a brief moment, its face scrunched up in mild disgust before it simply ignored him and resumed its training.

Hoo…

Orochimaru exhaled slowly, his expression turning solemn.

These creatures are far more powerful than I anticipated…

When Dragonite had looked at him, he felt his skin crawl, as though his body was instinctively warning him to flee.

Even his usually composed mind screamed at him to leave.

He had no doubt—if he were to fight this Dragonite, even his best techniques wouldn't be enough to guarantee survival.

Not wanting to linger any longer, Orochimaru quickly turned and made his way further into the area.

His highly attuned senses told him one thing—

Standing here any longer… would be a mistake.
