Chapter 14: The Marriage

Author's Note: Well, first let me vent my anger… fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! Son of a **********, you know why I did that? Well, I am currently 20 years old, still single, and I don't even know how to talk to girls for more than 5 minutes 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 And here I am, writing about marriage. All in all, pardon me if you think romance is forced. This soul has no idea how that thing actually works, so yeah… sorry 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Well, it's not like I'm sorry for myself. I'm pretty happy being single because I have a lot of free time for gaming and studying (aka reading web novels) 😁😁😁. Okay, enjoy! And don't forget to leave a comment. Why is my story lacking so much in reviews? Please give me some reviews!

Kael's POV

Today is the day of our marriage.

Yes, it's finally here. And I have to say, Asgard went all out for it. Everywhere you look, the entire realm is decorated in ways that leave you in awe. Flowers of unknown origins bloom across every pillar and archway. Banners bearing Hela's insignia — now combined with my own newly crafted symbol — flutter proudly in the wind.

In the movies, Asgard was always depicted as a medieval European kingdom. Old-fashioned, majestic, but primitive.

In reality? No. Absolutely not.

Sure, the Asgardians value tradition, and their way of life is simple compared to Earth's modern hustle. But nothing about Asgard feels outdated. Their architecture blends elegance with power, and their celebrations are grander than anything I've ever seen.

This place is timeless, eternal.

And today, I'm about to become part of it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up early, expecting to see Hela by my side. But she wasn't there.

Her absence felt strange. After all, we'd grown accustomed to waking up together. I stretched and rubbed the sleep from my eyes, glancing around the room, hoping she might be somewhere nearby. But the room was empty.

Just as I was about to get up, there was a knock on the door. A maid entered, bowing respectfully.

Maid: "Lord Kael, princess Hela instructed that you must not see her until the ceremony. She will appear only at the wedding hall."

I blinked.

Of course. The old 'groom can't see the bride' tradition.

I chuckled to myself. It seemed even the Goddess of Death, the ruler of Hel, had a romantic side.

Kael: "Thank you. I'll get ready."

The maid bowed again before leaving, and I was left standing there, staring at my reflection in the mirror. Today's the day. My life is about to change forever.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The hours leading up to the ceremony passed in a blur. Servants bustled in and out, ensuring everything was perfect. They brought me my wedding outfit, carefully tailored to fit me like a second skin.

The outfit was a masterpiece. A sleek, regal suit of black and deep purple, with intricate gold patterns embroidered along the edges. A long, flowing cloak hung from my shoulders, fastened by a clasp bearing my new sigil — a combination of the Void's swirling energy and Hela's emblem.

And, of course, the crown.

It wasn't too grand, but it wasn't simple either. Crafted from obsidian and gold, it rested comfortably on my head, symbolizing my new place in Asgardian royalty.

I took a deep breath as I stared at myself in the mirror.

Kael (thinking): This is it. No turning back now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The wedding hall was magnificent.

Golden light filtered through towering stained-glass windows, casting ethereal patterns across the marble floor. The grand hall was filled with Asgardians — warriors, nobles, and citizens alike — all gathered to witness the union of their princesses and future ruler (Queens) and her chosen consort.

At the far end of the hall stood Odin, regal and imposing as ever, flanked by Thor and Loki. Both brothers wore ceremonial armor — golden and green, polished to perfection.

Thor's expression was conflicted. His brow furrowed, his lips pressed into a thin line. He looked as though he was still struggling to accept that his sister, the feared Goddess of Death, was marrying a mortal.

Loki, however, was different. He stood with an air of casual grace, hands clasped behind his back, a mischievous yet soft, warm smile playing on his lips. It wasn't his usual smirk of amusement or mockery. No, this smile was genuine, filled with something akin to quiet approval.

And then, the music shifted.

The grand doors at the far end of the hall creaked open, and all eyes turned to the entrance.

Hela.

Time seemed to slow.

My breath caught in my throat, my heart pounding like a war drum in my chest.

She was radiant.

Her dress — a sleek black gown with intricate gold patterns that shimmered like starlight — clung to her figure, elegant and regal, with a long cape flowing behind her like the night sky itself. Her crown, made of obsidian and emeralds, gleamed in the light, casting shadows across her features that only made her look more striking.

But it wasn't just her appearance that stole my breath.

It was the way she carried herself.

Every step she took down the aisle was filled with grace and power, her head held high, her gaze unwavering. She was a queen in every sense of the word — fierce, commanding, untouchable.

And yet…

Her eyes softened when they met mine.

Those piercing emerald eyes, once filled with cold indifference and wrath, now held something else entirely. A warmth she reserved for me alone.

Strength. Pride. Love.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The room seemed to hold its breath as she walked, the murmurs fading into silence. Even the light filtering through the stained glass seemed to dim, as if the universe itself wanted to witness this moment.

As Hela reached me, she took my hand, and I felt that familiar spark of warmth spread through my chest.

For a moment, it was just the two of us.

And then…

Something changed.

I felt it — a shift in the very fabric of reality. A presence, or rather, several presences.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw them.

They stood on the fringes of existence, just beyond the veil of the wedding hall. Silent witnesses to a union that transcended realms.

The Watcher hovered in the shadows, his massive form looming as his unblinking eyes took in every detail of the ceremony. Though usually detached, his lips curved ever so slightly in what could only be described as approval.

Further back, I caught glimpses of cosmic beings I had only heard of in whispers.one of them gave me a smile i didn't know what it was for

Death, draped in black with eyes like voids, watched with an almost maternal pride. Eternity, a figure composed of stars and galaxies, stood motionless, observing the union with quiet reverence.

Even Lady Chaos and Lord Order were present, their conflicting energies momentarily balanced as they stood side by side.

They had all gathered to witness this moment. Not out of duty, but out of curiosity… and perhaps even joy.

And then, among the cosmic beings, I saw him.

An old man, standing apart from the rest.

He wasn't like the others — he didn't radiate divine power or cosmic energy. He looked utterly ordinary, dressed in simple clothes, with a familiar mustache and a warm, knowing smile.

His presence shouldn't have made sense.

But somehow… it did.

The old man caught my gaze, his eyes twinkling with mischief and kindness. Slowly, he lifted his hand and gave me a thumbs-up.

I blinked, taken aback.

Kael (thinking): Is that…?

Before I could process it, the old man winked and disappeared, as if he had never been there at all.

A soft chuckle escaped my lips, drawing Hela's attention.

Hela: "What is it?"

I shook my head, squeezing her hand gently.

Kael: "Nothing. Just… someone reminding me that we're on the right path."

Her lips curved into a soft smile, and for a moment, everything else faded away.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Odin began the ceremony, I felt a strange peace settle over me.

Odin: 'Today, we witness a union unlike any other. A bond forged not just in love, but in strength and destiny. Kael Alaric, a mortal who is both of the gods and apart from them, and Hela, the Goddess of Life and Death, stand before us to pledge themselves to each other.'"

He turned to me first.

Odin: "Kael, do you swear to stand by Hela's side, to honor her as your soulmate, and to walk with her through eternity?"

I met Hela's gaze, my heart steady.

Kael: "I swear."

Odin nodded, turning to Hela.

Odin: "Hela, do you swear to stand by Kael's side, to honor him as your soulmate, and to walk with him through eternity?"

Hela's lips curled into a soft smile.

Hela's emerald eyes softened.

Hela: "I swear."

Odin raised his hands, and a brilliant light surrounded us, illuminating the entire hall.

As the light faded, Hela leaned in, her lips brushing against mine in a kiss that sealed our vows.

The hall erupted into cheers, the sound echoing across Asgard and beyond.

Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of the cosmic beings once more. They stood in silence, watching the festivities unfold.

And, just for a moment, I thought I saw the old man again, sitting beneath a large tree in the void, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he watched over us.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Loki stood quietly, watching the celebration unfold. His usual smirk had faded, replaced by something softer — almost wistful.

Thor, noticing this rare expression, couldn't resist.

Thor: "Are you… emotional, brother? The God of Mischief? Feeling sentimental?"

Thor gave Loki a playful nudge with his elbow.

Loki rolled his eyes, but his thoughts betrayed him.

(Loki, thinking): Why do I feel this way? Why does seeing her happy… make me feel happy?

Thor wasn't done teasing.

Thor: "Careful now. If you start crying, I'll never let you live it down."

Loki shot him a glare, his usual sass returning.

Loki: "I don't cry. Unlike you, musclehead."

Thor chuckled, but then his expression turned thoughtful.

Thor: "Say, what do you think our punishment will be?

Loki shrugged, a glint of defiance in his eyes.

Loki: "I don't care. I'm Loki. Even without my divine power, I'll always be smarter than you."

Thor grinned at that, his mischievous side showing.

Without warning, he smacked Loki on the back of the head — hard.

Loki: "Ow! What was that for?"

Thor shrugged.

Thor: "I don't know. Just felt like you needed it."

Loki scowled, rubbing his head.

Loki: "Musclehead."

Thor: "Trickster."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the brothers bickered, a presence far beyond Asgard watched them in silence.

In the endless expanse of the Void, where time and space twisted upon themselves, a massive tree stood — its branches stretching across realities, its roots entwined with the fabric of existence itself.

Beneath the tree sat a figure on a throne of woven branches and stars, draped in green and gold.

His gaze was distant, watching not one world, but many. The faintest smirk tugged at the corners of his lips as he observed the celebration in Asgard, where Kael and Hela stood side by side.

???: "interesting ."

His fingers drummed lightly on the armrest of his throne.

???:"Stories have a way of writing themselves, don't they? And yet..."

He tilted his head, his gaze narrowing.

???:"The Void's Chosen. I wonder... What kind of ending are you hoping for, Kael Alaric?"

The branches of the tree shifted, whispering secrets from countless timelines.

???:"Whatever it is, I suppose I'll be watching."

And with that, Loki leaned back on his throne, his smile growing ever so slightly.

???:"After all, every story needs a storyteller."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back in the hall of asgard

As the celebrations began, Hela and I stood together, watching the festivities unfold.

Hela: "You're mine now."

Her voice was soft, but there was a fierceness in it — a quiet, unshakable claim that resonated with something deep inside me.

I couldn't stop the chuckle that escaped me, though it sounded more like a sigh of relief. I reached for her hand, intertwining my fingers with hers.

Kael: "And you've always been mine."

Her eyes softened at my words — those striking green eyes that had once looked at the universe with disdain and bitterness. Now, they gazed at me with something else entirely.

Love.

For a moment, I couldn't speak. The weight of everything we'd been through pressed down on me — the battles, the loneliness we both carried, the strange twists of fate that had brought us here.

I took a shaky breath, resting my forehead against hers.

Kael: "I never thought I'd find something like this. Not in this life. Not with someone like you."

Hela's grip tightened on my hand.

Hela: "I didn't think I deserved it."

Her words were barely a whisper, but they hit me harder than any blow I'd ever taken. Hela, the unrelenting Goddess of Death, who had been cast aside and abandoned by her own family — she thought love was something out of her reach.

Kael: "You deserve everything. Everything, Hela."

A tremor ran through her hand, and for a split second, the mask she always wore cracked. There, in her eyes, I saw vulnerability. Fear. But also hope.

She pressed closer to me, her crown glinting in the light as it brushed against my cheek.

Hela: "I won't let anyone take this from us."

I smiled, brushing a strand of her dark hair behind her ear.

Kael: "Neither will I."

For the first time in what felt like forever, the weight on both our shoulders lifted. No thrones. No realms. Just the two of us — bound by fate, choice, and something far more powerful than either of us had ever expected.

I pulled her into my arms, holding her like she was the only thing that mattered. And in that moment, she was.

Kael (thinking): We've both walked through darkness. We've both been broken. But together? We'll never be alone again.

As the cheers of Asgard echoed around us, we stood there, lost in each other.

And as I held her, I realized something.

This wasn't just the beginning of a marriage. It was the beginning of everything.
