In love with a god

Chapter 5: Nightmare

In tears, Carly asked her mum "Mum, what have I ever done to deserve this kind of treatment from you?"

Smack!

Came the next sound as a slap landed on her face, "Don't you dare call me mum, I'm not your mother okay? A child of mine would never behave in such a stupid manner." Her mother replied her angrily as tears kept flowing from Carly's eyes in currents.

"What would you have me do?" Carly said admits tears. She sobbed so hard her heart ached. "I've tried mum, it's always never enough. You don't teach me things. All I know how to do, I struggled to learn them on my own. I try my best but you've never said a "thank you" to me, not once.Did you... Did you really give birth to me, or I have my mother somewhere else? What exactly am I to you" Carly felt so heartbroken. She had heard of motherly love but she's never felt it and it hurt her deep to her bones.

Mrs Keystone simply hissed and passed by her as if she were an invincible piece of trash.

Cleaning her tears, with a sad smile. That smile that showed just how much pain she has been through. That familiar smile like she has been used to pains and torment. She went into her room to complete the project she was working on. A speech competition was coming up and she was heading a team.

As she practiced on her own, she practiced in tears. This was getting too much for her, but she managed to concentrate on what she was doing. She had siblings too, but they cared less, just like their mum. Hence, she had always been strong minded and never budged, no matter what people says. She's used to it after all. This place of loneliness and darkness. She smiled again and she kept practicing till her phone rang...

"Hey Carly", came a voice from the other end.

"Hey Ally", what'sup? How's life treating you?" She asked as she followed her statement with a long laughter.

"Pretty good, bae" Alicia replied not noticing the pains behind those laughters.

"So, what'sup with your practice? Is it going fine? Just wanted to check on you." Alicia asked Carly.

"Sigh, to be honest Alicia, I'm not so good. Momma is throwing tantrums again, i don't know what I've done this time." Carly responded dejectedly.

"Ohhh" Alicia said. "It's fine, would see you at school on Monday. Just please take care of yourself. I'm here whenever you need me."

" I know"

"I wanna show you some really exciting stuffs I came up with."

"Ohhhhkkkaaayyy...What's it about?" Carly asked.

"Nahh... I ain't gonna tell you now on until I see you." Alicia blurted out, grinning.

They talked about some other things, and ended the call.

Carly let out a heavy breath and continued with her practice. After sometime, she laid on her bed, staring at the stars through her window as she finally drifted to sleep.

Somewhere in the woods

"Don't let her go yet", a voice that could send chills down one's spine was heard. Carly was seen held on both hands by two stern looking men, looking bloodied from head to toe. Buh she wasn't dying, as she still felt strength and wasn't In any way weak. Where was this strength coming from? She looked up, but couldn't see the face of her abductor. She wasn't a bit scared, but she wanted to know where she was. She opened her mouth, but she couldn't even hear what she was saying.

Just then, someone dragged a thoroughly totured guy to the scene. Carly screamed on seeing who it was. She couldn't stop the tears, and she was screaming without hearing her own voice, as the just dragged in guy looked at her with many emotions swirling in his eyes.

"Now," she heard the chilling voice again "it's either you talk, or we kill him, your choice princess." The abductor said, pulling her hair.

"Noooooooooo!"

Carly heard her own voice for the first time and woke up into reality, sweating with tears on her face.

Why does this nightmare feel surreal...?
