Chapter 24: Chapter 23

"Where do you think you're going?!"

The Nen-user pursuing them glared at his targets, now almost within arm's reach, and surged forward with renewed speed.

Feeling the gust of wind closing in behind them, both Uvogin and Nobunaga chose to trust Morin without question. Silently, they increased their pace, following him closely.

The distance between their pursuer and them kept shrinking. Just as it seemed inevitable that they'd be caught—

Thud!

The pursuer stepped onto the spot where Morin had thrown the small white dumpling moments earlier, releasing a cloud of pink mist.

"Screeech!"

A grating, unbearable noise, like nails on a chalkboard, reverberated through the air. The Nen-user felt his balance give way, and his body pitched forward violently.

Through sheer athleticism, he managed to twist his waist mid-fall and avoid smashing face-first into the ground. He barely straightened himself in time.

But as he regained his footing, he noticed something strange.

"What… glue?!"

Looking down, he saw a thick, sticky yellow substance coating his shoes. No matter how hard he tried, his feet remained firmly stuck to the ground, as if rooted there.

He attempted to pull his feet out of his shoes, only to find that the adhesive seemed to seep through, trapping even his feet within the confines of the footwear.

"Ha! What an idiot!"

The mocking laughter from his comrades behind him rang loud and clear. Despite their ridicule, they proceeded cautiously, leaping over the suspicious area in large strides.

Yet—

"Screeech!"

The same piercing noise echoed again. Two more Nen-users found themselves immobilized.

"The range of this stuff… is huge!"

Surveying the area ahead, they realized much of the ground was covered in the same treacherous adhesive. They had no choice but to find an alternate route, which delayed them further.

"Damn, Morin, that was incredible!"

Uvogin, glancing back and seeing the chaos unfold, finally pieced it together.

"That was one of your new toys, huh?"

"Yup. It's called the Rescue Dumpling," Morin confirmed with a nod.

Item: Rescue Dumpling

Effect: In situations where escape seems impossible, throwing one of these dumplings guarantees an easy getaway.

Details: The dumpling string has four spheres, each unleashing a unique ability. The first creates ultra-sticky glue on the ground to immobilize pursuers.

Note: Like other disposable tools (e.g., Translation Konjac), each dumpling is single-use, and the item will be gone once all four are used.

"Wow, that was fun!" Uvogin laughed heartily. "What's the next trick?"

Morin grinned but kept his focus on their escape, throwing the second dumpling as their pursuers closed in once again.

Thud!

A second pink mist billowed out upon impact.

The hunters, already wary, attempted to sidestep the area.

But—

BOOM!

The ground shook violently.

To their shock, massive mounds of earth and sharp rock spires erupted skyward, creating an imposing wall that completely blocked their path.

"What the hell is this?!"

The wall's sheer scale and durability astonished the pursuing Nen-users. They unleashed a barrage of attacks—enhanced punches, emitted Nen blasts—but couldn't even scratch the surface.

"This thing's… indestructible?!"

"This… this is insane. What kind of ability are we dealing with here?!"

Meanwhile, on the uppermost floor of the building, in the Elder's office…

The old man, dressed in his luxurious fur coat, stood frozen, his expression a mix of horror and disbelief. Before him, just inches away, loomed the newly risen earth wall, its rough surface mere centimeters from his nose.

The thick scent of soil filled the room.

A bead of sweat slid down his temple.

"Gulp."

He swallowed hard, eyes darting to the shattered remains of his once-prized desk and bottle of wine, now crushed under the wall's sudden emergence.

Had he taken a single step forward, his fate would have been sealed.
