Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Morning After at Natsuha's House
Despite yesterday's exhausting activities, it didn't pose much of a problem for Hikari. Thanks to his resilient physique, he was up and moving bright and early.
Leaning back against the headboard, his sharply defined abs were exposed to the cool morning air, yet he showed no discomfort. He casually opened a bottle of Shengbao nutrition drink, taking a small sip.
"Ahh... Refreshing," he muttered to himself.
This system-given Shengbao drink was no exaggeration—one bottle to wake you up, two bottles to keep you going all day, and one after any intense "exercise" could replenish energy and banish fatigue. It didn't just taste good; it actually helped restore his stamina.
"Looks like I've found my new post-workout drink," Hikari decided, savoring the last of his drink.
He glanced over to see Natsuha still fast asleep beside him, her delicate brows slightly furrowed. Gently wiping away a bit of drool from the corner of her mouth, he pulled up the blanket around her, tucking her in more securely.
He understood why Natsuha was still out like a light. Although they'd gone to bed at a somewhat reasonable time by high school standards—barely midnight—the two of them had spent a lot of energy on their rather exhausting knight cosplay games.
Naturally, she was still worn out. Her stamina was nowhere near his level, so it was no surprise she was still resting.
"Looks like we got so caught up yesterday, we forgot to eat," Hikari thought, rubbing his empty stomach.
For someone with his appetite, skipping meals was no small matter. With a few quick taps on his phone, he ordered breakfast and then opened up his Pure Love System.
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for making a valuable contribution to Natsuha Shizunomiya's physical and emotional well-being, fulfilling her long-held wish, and greatly promoting the spirit of pure love.]
[Congratulations! Host receives 200 Pure Love Points]
Seeing the system notification, Hikari raised an eyebrow. This was a pleasant surprise—he'd thought Natsuha's reward potential was already maxed out.
'With this extra 200, I've got over 1,200 Pure Love Points now,' he mused. 'I'll spend 50 on today's daily 1-point attribute boost, keep 200 to exchange for some protective talismans, and the rest... Let's go for a ten-round lottery pull!'
Wasting no time, Hikari activated the lottery wheel, ready to see what his points could net him.
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for acquiring: Master-Level Boxing]
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for acquiring: Master-Level Sanda]
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for acquiring: Master-Level Archery]
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for acquiring: Master-Level Swordsmanship]
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for acquiring: Master-Level Spear Techniques]
He scanned the list of rewards, slightly surprised.
"Looks like everything this time boosts my combat power," he noted.
Aside from boxing, sanda, archery, and swordsmanship, he'd also received master-level skills in staff techniques, spear techniques, and even musical abilities like piano and guitar.
"Not bad. If I keep pulling like this, I'll soon master all eighteen martial arts, and every instrument will be second nature. I'll become the ultimate Pure Love Champion," he joked to himself, acting like certain character he read in the past.
Just as Hikari was musing over his new rewards, one item caught his attention
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for acquiring: Pure Love Radar]
[Pure Love Radar: Detects Pure Love fluctuations within the surrounding area, enabling the Host to identify targets that deviate from pure love ideals, such as cheaters or love rivals. Additionally, it alerts the Host when love rival events are in progress within range]
Hikari's was thoroughly impressed,"Now this is a useful item!"
Although he already had the Pure Love Tracking Crane and Vision Technique to locate and identify targets, both tools had their limits.
The radar, however, provided a broad, passive scan of the entire area. Each item had its strengths, and together they created a powerful toolkit for rooting out love rivals. In a world full of potential threats to pure love, the radar was a fantastic addition.
His breakfast arrived, and he wasted no time digging in, devouring three orders before reaching for a fourth.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Natsuha's nose twitch as if she'd caught a scent. Then, like a small, curious animal, she sniffed a few times.
Their eyes met just as she groggily opened hers. Seeing him looking at her, her face flushed, and she pulled the blanket up shyly, hiding under it as if she could disappear.
The fierce, uninhibited girl from yesterday was now nowhere to be seen; in her place was an embarrassed young woman.
Hikari gave her an understanding smile, reminding himself that, after all, she was still a high school girl. He leaned over, laughing, "No need to be shy. We already saw everything yesterday, didn't we?"
He patted the edge of the bed, "I heard your stomach rumbling. Want to join me for breakfast?"
Blushing, Natsuha nodded shyly. "Okay… thank you," she said softly, attempting to shift under the covers. Yet, the moment she tried to move, a wince of pain flashed across her face.
"Ow… It hurts so much," she admitted, looking at him with those big, pleading eyes. "My legs are so sore, I can't move."
Perhaps because she had only just crossed the threshold into adulthood, there was an alluring blend of innocence and maturity in her gaze, each sparkling like stars.
Hikari smiled, walking over to support her, easing her into a comfortable position against the headboard.
"Here, I ordered porridge for you. Let me feed you a few bites," he offered.
Natsuha's face lit up with a mix of gratitude and shyness. Although her affection for Hikari was already off the charts, his gentle care this morning made her heart skip all over again.
While he'd been upfront that he hadn't yet developed feelings for her, his tenderness now made her hopeful.
As they settled in, Hikari fed her the porridge, spoonful by spoonful. After a few bites, her cheeks flushed pink, and she looked at him hesitantly.
"Um… Hikari, after everything yesterday, I'm feeling sticky. I'd like to take a bath," she murmured, looking away in embarrassment.
"Of course," he said understandingly. "A bath will help you feel better."
But her expression turned troubled. "But my legs hurt so much, I can't walk…"
Seeing her dilemma, Hikari chuckled, standing up to help.
