She clenched her little pink fist, gritted her teeth, and smiled. "Ren-kun~, why are you hiding so fast? I won't eat you."

But Ren didn't take the bait at all. Instead, he responded seriously, "I can't say for sure, but I heard that there are ghost-eaters in this world. Some people can even eat demons let alone people."

Kocho Shinobu's little face darkened instantly.

She wanted to draw her sword, but Ren beat her to it, placing his hand on the handle to stop her.

"You are..." Kocho Shinobu started to speak but then swallowed the rest of her sentence—"bully me"—before it could escape her lips.

She was a Hashira, and voicing such things would only undermine her authority.

But this Ren was getting more and more mischievous!

Was this how you use insect Footwork?

Yesterday, Kocho Shinobu had taught Ren everything she knew, and today he had turned things around and was bullying his master?

Very good.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, quickly filling her lungs with air.

Ren's pupils shrank when he saw this.

It seemed like he had pushed her too far...

Just then, a crow flew into the courtyard, calling out urgently.

"Ah! Ah! Send the order! Traces of dekna of were found in the Autumn Mountains. They're very powerful. I'm now notifying Kocho Shinobu to go there!"

The crow's cry broke the tension in the air, halting Kocho Shinobu's movements.

Ren seized the opportunity, "It seems something's gone wrong again!"

"It's fine, the mission is more important. Sister Shinobu, you should head out first!" Ren said, showing an understanding look.

This made Kocho Shinobu grit her teeth.

"Train well!" she said fiercely.

"Okay, okay," Ren replied with a nod.

Then, Kocho Shinobu gave some instructions to Kanzaki Aoi and Kanoe before heading inside to make some preparations. A moment later, her figure flashed, and she disappeared from the courtyard.

Ren's expression slowly calmed. He turned to Kanoe, who was standing nearby, and asked, "Is Shinobu this busy every day?"

"Yes!" She replied matter-of-factly. "Actually, there are a lot of demons in this world. Shinobu-sama has to kill ghosts every day."

"Shinobu-sama is really hardworking. Ever since Kanae-sama left, Shinobu-sama has been taking care of Butterfly House alone."

"But she never complains about anything," the added. "She always smiles and talks to us like an older sister."

"Really?" Ren murmured, his thoughts deepening.

To put it bluntly, Kocho Shinobu was just an eighteen-year-old girl. Everyone could see how much hard work had gone into her journey to get where she was.

Despite the exhaustion of living, Kocho Shinobu persisted silently, driven by hatred.

Ren had lived in Butterfly House for a while now, and he had come to appreciate the peacefulness here—especially the calm aura of Kocho Shinobu, who seemed like an angel. There were no airs of superiority, and everyone in Butterfly House treated each other with kindness and respect.

Now that he knew Kocho Shinobu had to go out on missions every night, Ren felt a bit guilty.

So, before night fully fell, Ren practiced with Kanoe again, learning the remaining techniques of the Flower Breathing.

A few more days passed as Ren continued his stay in Butterfly House. There were only about a week left before the showdown with the Sanemi

Ren spent this time consolidating everything he had learned recently.

The first change he noticed was in his body's progress.

Ren had introduced modern training methods to his routine.

He now did hardcore weight-bearing runs every day, along with one hundred push-ups, one hundred sit-ups, and one hundred squats.

As his training gradually increased in intensity, and with Ren's incredible understanding, he could already feel improvements by the fourth day!

Not only had his recovery speed increased, but he could now run faster than before, and his lung capacity had strengthened.

Ren also worked on honing his breathing techniques. Having exhausted his lungs through rapid breathing during running, he now focused on breathing slowly, letting the air circulate all the way down to his fingertips.

Meditation, which helped with concentration, became part of his daily routine.

During his meditation, Ren discovered that he could consciously enter a special state.

He dubbed this state "bullet time."

In bullet time, the movements of everything around him slowed in his eyes, and his observation ability heightened to superhuman levels.

Not only could he track the movements of people, but he could also sense surrounding disturbances, almost like the compound eyes of a bee.

In this state, Ren's learning ability grew exponentially.

Because he often overexerted his brain, Ren found himself drained at times and unable to focus on physical training.

So, he decided to split his focus: when studying, he would activate bullet time. When he wasn't using it, he could devote all his energy to his physical training.

Though he hadn't learned any new techniques recently, this dual-focus method helped him push his physical limits.

Two more days passed, and only five days remained before his battle with the Immortal River.

Kocho Shinobu still hadn't returned from her mission.

With the medical room growing busier, Ren began learning medical skills and helped Kanzaki Aoi when he had free time.

This made him quite familiar to the Demon Slayer team members.

To their surprise, no matter how serious the injuries were, Ren could treat them with ease!

The members of the Demon Slayer Corps began looking at him with admiration, and soon rumors spread about a male miracle doctor in Butterfly House.

Ren, however, played it down, claiming he was merely helping out. After all, medical skills were simple for someone like him!

One day, one of the Little ones called out, "Brother Ren, could you please go to the basement to find some bandages? The ones Ren brought back have all been used up."

Ren, finishing his meditation, casually replied, "Sure."

He then headed towards the basement of Butterfly House.

Although he didn't find any bandages, Ren stumbled upon Kocho Shinobu's laboratory.

With no one around, he entered quietly.

The room was cluttered with instruments, and there were professional documents and handwritten notes scattered across the table.

Despite the mess, the overall space was clean—Kocho Shinobu clearly valued cleanliness.

Suddenly, Ren's gaze fell on a notebook on the table. The writing inside seemed dry and had likely been written a few days ago.

It appeared to be a temporary diary that Kocho Shinobu had written before heading out.

Curious, Ren opened it and began reading.

"Tuesday, weather: sunny."
