Chapter 38: Chapter 36: Entrance
All eyes were locked on them as they entered the suddenly silent room, taking a sudden breathe in unison at what laid before them.
Kitsunes have always been portrayed as insanely beautiful woman, seductresses that only lead men and women to ruin as they tried their all to please this goddess among them. Yasaka with her long golden hair and hourglass figure, was like the Kitsune among Kitsunes. She wore a kimono that seemed like it was crafted with pure gold threads, with intricate patterns that glowed ominously under the overhead lights. Those 9, fluffy and well groomed tails laid splayed out behind her, making her look majestic as some kind of empress among her subjects. Golden eyes sparked with barely concealed power as she smile wanly at the assembly before her, which she then hid behind a paper fan thrummed with energy.
With such a beautiful appearance, her partner's rather average looks only further highlighted her beauty. Her high heels allowed her to simply tower over the man in a way the truly showcased how average the man's height was. He wore a simple, pure white kimono with not a single adornment anywhere in sight. His face, that looked as though it could blend into a crowd, was permanently fixed with a serene expression. Normally no one would've been able to see much of a different between him and a normal human, if only it wasn't for the inky black river that seem to float just a few scant centimeters above the ground. The hair slid after the man like some kind of snake, twisting and turning in place despite there being no breeze in place.
And those eyes...bright, sparking blue that twinkled like some kind of star in the sky. Like they held some kind of ancient, cosmic secret that would shatter the very understanding of your reality.
"Presenting leader of the Yokai Faction, Yasaka-sama and her guest, Grandmaster Yamato Iori."
Both the maid maintaining the doors said in unison as they fell over themselves into a full bow that had them on their hands and knees. Their ears twitching and tails waving about in the air in obvious excitement.
It was as though the Yokai in the room all let out a breathe of relief as they saw their leader and backer. Like the pressure emitted by the diplomats had been washed away under the presence of their own faction's powerhouses. And one and all subtlety eyed the diplomats from the corner of the eye, all wishing to store their expressions for centuries to come.
They were not disappointed as suddenly, those diplomats' faces took on a slightly confused look before their faces paled in unison. Their eyes scrapping themselves across the man's frame, wishing-no-hoping that what they were seeing was just a simple illusion the Yokai were so well known for. But no matter how their magic flickered through their eyes, how Divine might wished to pierce through the illusion; everything failed. If this man was truly THAT Heavenly Demon…
'Their screwed…'
Kunou thought with a small smile that looked like it would better suit a fox that just caught a rabbit in their hovel. She wanted nothing more than to capture those arrogant expressions slowly die out as they were truly made aware of the uphill battle the next couple of days would be.
As the pair slowly walked through the room, with Yasaka giving small greetings and Iori just...being there in a way that allowed for his presence to be both known but not completely overpowering, the somewhat tense silence eased and the surrounding Yokai actually looked as though they were enjoying the party. Their muscles eased, brows no longer scrunched together and smiles no longer had that rather forced nature. Instead, they each took up some Ki infused saki and looked at the upcoming show. It was sure to be a good one.
They stopped in unison before their first victim, a pristinely dressed priest that looked as though he wanted to grip at the rosary hanging from his neck as to ward off the evil that was before him. Instead, the old man only smile tightly as the blonde Yokai smiled down at him, showcasing all her pearly whites.
"Ah," Yasaka said with a slight hint of surprise, as though she hadn't invited the man," Bishop Yarrow. How are you enjoying the party?"
"It's…" His eyes flickered over to the average looking man she was clutching so tightly," Wonderful."
It looked like the words had to be forced out of his old lungs, as though just complimenting a Yokai had severely wounded him. But what was he going to do? Insulting the leader as insignificant as Yasaka would be fine if he hid it beneath a stream of pleasantries, but before a legend? He was old, not foolish.
"Look at me," She sighed in exasperation, patting herself lightly with her fan," I've been awfully rude. Let me introduce you two. Bishop Yarrow, this here is Yamato Iori. Master Yamato this is Bishop Christopher Yarrow."
"It is a pleasure to meet you…" Yarrow gulped slightly as he locked gazes with those blue pools that threatened to drown him in their endlessness," I've heard a lot of stories from Saint Elizabeth but they simply don't compare to the real thing."
Yasaka's brow slightly twitched at the name, only halting her tails from waving about in displeasure due to years of self control. It wouldn't do to show weakness in this kind of situation, she had the momentum to absolutely steamroll these off kilter people but that window was limited.
"The pleasure's all mine." Iori nodded a small smile gracing his lips, amusement dancing in those blue eyes," I would love to hear some of those stories."
"Well.." The man suddenly felt the room grow a bit too hot and lightly tugged at his collar," I really shouldn't! I don't wish to keep you 2 from the rest of the party, it wouldn't be fair for this old man to yammered your ears off."
He said such a sentence shamelessly as though he wasn't in a room filled to brim with beings that were all well over a century in age.
