[Stabilizing host's soul within the new body… 90%]

Elion's awareness began to solidify. In the darkness, he felt a tingling sensation as his soul connected with this new body, like fitting the final piece into a puzzle—a strangely satisfying feeling.

[Assimilating system with host's new body… 100%]

His consciousness grew stronger, and this time he could see the system messages illuminating the void within his subconscious. Elion flexed his new body, moving his fingers and toes with his eyes still shut, testing his limits.

It looks like I've really been reborn. My body doesn't feel as powerful as before. Did the system reset all my levels and stats?

[Congratulations, Host! You have successfully reincarnated in another world. Good luck in your new life!]

The system's cheery message floated before him, offering its congratulations. As his hearing sharpened and his vision adjusted, the first sound he registered was a series of heavy, labored breaths.

"Hnggg..." her groan was muffled, followed by ragged gasps.

Elion opened his eyes, and his view was immediately filled with an aged wooden ceiling. He could feel something hard beneath his back, covered by rough fabric. It seemed he was lying on a wooden floor.

He turned slightly, observing the very small wooden room until his gaze stopped on a woman with a very large belly. She had a beautiful face with flowing white hair and golden eyes that reflected the dim light. She wore a long gown and was positioned near him, her legs raised and trembling.

"Aahh!!" the woman groaned again, exerting all her strength to push something from her abdomen. Her face was tense, her body shaking, beads of sweat covering her skin.

Is she… my mother in this world? But why does she look like she's giving birth even though I'm already here?

The cramped wooden room was devoid of anyone besides Elion and the woman—no midwife, no one to assist her, which puzzled him.

"Haaa… nghhh…" The woman, whom Elion presumed to be his new mother, was still experiencing contractions. Her face grew paler, and her eyes trembled with worry. "Oh, my… is my baby all right?" she murmured anxiously, looking down at her lower body.

Oh, she's giving birth to twins. That explains it, Elion realized, understanding her situation. I don't know how long this labor has been going on, but I should probably help before things get dangerous for her.

Elion then spoke in his mind, "System, open status window!"

Instantly, a glowing screen materialized in his vision, hovering above him as he lay staring at the ceiling.

Elion sighed, frowning at his status window. This damned system... resetting my level for some bullshit reason. But now's not the time for this.

Refocusing on the task at hand, he extended his tiny hand toward his mother, who was still struggling with the birth of his twin. Activating his skill, [Levitas], he directed gentle support to her abdomen. Sensing the slight pressure, his mother gave one last, determined push with all her remaining strength.

"Aaaahh…"

Her pained cry echoed through the small room, and finally, the second child emerged, born into the world.

"F-Finally…" she panted, breathless, beads of sweat covering her pale face. Despite her exhaustion, she sat up with trembling hands, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks as she embraced her newborn.

Phew… I almost became an orphan right after being reincarnated. But how is she moving so freely after delivering twins?

Elion couldn't help but be impressed by this beautiful woman beside him. In his knowledge, childbirth usually left a woman weak and immobile, especially after delivering twins.

After holding the new baby for a few moments, the woman gently placed him next to Elion, then reached out to softly stroke Elion's head.

"I'm sorry, my child… for not being able to bring you into a better world. And maybe you'll grow up in a tough place. But I promise I will protect and love you with all my strength." Her voice trembled, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Tears fell onto Elion's small cheek as the woman looked at him with a gaze that was foreign to him. It was the first time in his life someone had looked at him with such sincere eyes, making his small heart tremble intensely.

This gaze… it's full of unconditional love.

The tickling feeling in his heart made Elion extend his tiny hand, gently wiping the face of the white-haired woman, bringing a happy smile to her beautiful face.

"Oh, my precious little baby. You seem to recognize me as your mother," she whispered, her voice filled with awe as she tenderly held his hand.

At her mention of the word "mother," Elion pulled his hand back, a flicker of disappointment crossing her face. Memories of his previous life's mother—a cruel figure—flashed through his mind, prompting him to withhold his trust for now.

Moments later, his mother's face paled as she realized something was amiss.

"Why haven't my babies cried? Is this normal?" she asked, her voice quivering with fear.

She's right. I haven't cried since I was born. But why should I? I'm not a child.

Considering his actual age, Elion certainly wasn't a newborn or even a child. In truth, he could practically be this woman's ancestor.

But what puzzled him was his twin, who hadn't made a sound either since being born.

In her rising panic and Elion's confusion, the newborn stirred, adjusting his position and slowly opening his eyes.

"Ah... he opens his eyes!" she exclaimed, smiling joyfully as she reached out to caress her son's head.

Just as her hand approached the baby, the newborn's small arm shot up, swatting her hand away.

Both Elion and his mother stared, stunned at the bizarre sight.

As Elion furrowed his brow, staring in bewilderment, the baby turned, directing his blue eyes at Elion, smirking as he opened his mouth.

"Whatchu lookin at, kid? Whatchu tryin to get into?" asked the baby with a smug look on his face.

Elion's eyes widened in disbelief, his immediate reaction escaping him: "The fuck?"

In the midst of all this, the mother of these two peculiar newborns remained silent for a moment. But instead of fear or confusion, relief flooded her face, and she smiled warmly.

"Oh, my! My babies can talk! It seems like you two are going to be just fine."
