Chapter 15: GOING ON THE WAY TO THE HERBIVORE ISLAND P6
Fer opened the backpack that was on the ground with his implant to see inside. When he approached the backpack, Fer felt a strange sensation coming from his hand implant; instinctively, he knew how to open the menu of the backpack.
When the familiar blue screen was projected from the implant on his arm, it showed what was inside the backpack.
Fer's eyes lit up with joy. In a grid, there was an intact metal pickaxe, and to the sides were a few grids containing different berries—those useless things that Fer ignored as if they didn't exist.
"I didn't expect that by killing a sarcosuchus, I would get a metal pickaxe. With this in my possession and with 5x collection, I could settle on this dangerous island faster with the help of this metal pickaxe, which is incomparable to the stone pickaxe," Fer said as he manifested the metal pickaxe in his right hand.
The grip of the metal pickaxe was much firmer and more comfortable than that of a stone pickaxe, which basically consisted of a wooden stick with attached tape. The comfort was on an entirely different level. He swung the metal pickaxe to test its weight and speed. In summary, the metal pickaxe was slightly heavier than the stone pickaxe, but not to the point of being burdensome or stifling. Additionally, the durability of the pickaxe was quite good, so he didn't have to worry about it as long as he didn't overuse it. Not to mention that the metal pickaxe could mine minerals that the stone pickaxe couldn't collect, such as obsidian or metal ore.
…
He spent one or two minutes testing the metal pickaxe until he got tired and decided to look for temporary shelter among the large surrounding rocks. He moved across the sandy and rocky terrain in search of a place to stay.
After moving from place to place for a few minutes, he finally found a gap between two giant rocks. The space was enough to fit five people, but the downside was that there were two openings on either side big enough for a medium-sized dinosaur to fit through.
Faced with this situation, Fer simply ignored the problem since he could make wooden spikes to cover these two gaps between the rocks.
That's exactly what he wanted to do; however, almost all the resources had been spent on making 100 spears earlier. With the current resources on hand, he could only make two wooden spikes, but to cover both gaps, he would need four wooden spikes to cover the two entrances from the outside.
Fer looked at the sky and saw that it was only a few minutes from getting completely dark. Not wanting to waste any more time, he hurried to gather enough materials to make the two remaining wooden spikes.
…
+94 wood
+37 thatch
+190 fiber
• better berries…
…
In less than four minutes, he gathered enough to craft the two remaining wooden spikes. Once inside the two rocks, Fer clicked on the blueprint of the wooden spike wall, making four at once.
While the wooden spikes were being made, Fer queued up a sleeping bag and a campfire, which were crafted when the spikes finished being made.
He waited for the spikes to be crafted and placed them two by two at the two entrances. There was just enough room to move with a little freedom, and in the middle of the gap, he set the campfire, lighting it with thatch he had left over in his inventory. He also put the raw meat that hadn't spoiled yet into the menu.
Since he had been running for a long time and had used up a lot of food to recover his energy, the cooked meat he had prepared earlier had long been consumed. If it weren't for the berries he could pick at any time, maintaining a constant speed would have been impossible without starving first.
The prime meat had turned into spoiled meat, which was unfortunate since prime meat couldn't be stacked in many portions like raw meat and spoiled quickly.
The sky was now ink-dark, and the only thing visible was the orange glow of the campfire, which made a crackling sound from time to time. As he lay on the sleeping bag comfortably, Fer finally had time to allocate points to his stats as he had filled the experience bar. The familiar menu with his stats appeared before his eyes.
NAME: FER
LEVEL: 12
EXPERIENCE: 1368.6/780 -5-
HEALTH: 300/300
ENERGY: 300/300
OXYGEN: 200/200
FOOD: 57/100
WATER: 97/100
WEIGHT: 0/100
MELEE DAMAGE: 200%
MOVEMENT SPEED: 300%
CRAFTING SPEED: 100%
FORTITUDE: 20.0
SLEEP: 0/200
Seeing his stats, Fer was quite satisfied, but there was still much room for improvement to enhance himself, especially with five points to allocate to his stats.
Since he already had enough movement speed to be safe and fast enough to reach the herbivore island quickly, he wouldn't increase his speed unless necessary in the future.
What he needed most at this moment was battery duration. With only 300 energy, he could only run at full speed for a short time. Although energy recovery was very fast, if it was depleted at a critical moment during a chase, the speed he was so proud of would be completely useless.
However, increasing energy also required more food and water consumption.
Thinking of this, he added one point each to food and water, increasing them from 100 to 200. The instant food and water increased, Fer suddenly felt hunger in his stomach and his lips drying up from lack of hydration in his body.
Even though he felt these adverse effects, Fer wasn't in a rush to eat and drink to fill his needs. Three points remained to be added to a stat, and without much thought, he added another point to crafting speed, which increased from 100% to 120%.
The increase in crafting speed wasn't as significant as in other stats, but there was one thing to keep in mind. He had a 10x increase, meaning the real increase was 2% for each point added, reflecting the importance of the infinite stats mod.
For many who didn't know, they would think crafting speed only served to shorten the time it took to craft an item in the inventory. But what many didn't know was that crafting speed had another hidden function.
The hidden function of crafting speed was that there was a chance to increase the percentage of weapons and items when crafting them at a high crafting speed percentage.
Weapons or other items had a set percentage that was always 100%, like the pickaxes and hatchets he held. The only two ways to increase the percentage were through crafting blueprints or crafting speed.
If the percentage was high enough, it could result in significant improvements to weapons or items. For example, a metal pickaxe at 300% could collect more resources and break giant rocks in one or two hits, saving effort and energy.
…
The two remaining points he had were added to energy, which increased from 300 to 500. The moment the energy recovered, the food and water numbers dropped steadily until the energy bar was full.
The sensations of hunger and thirst in his body intensified instantly, almost becoming irresistible, so Fer quickly opened the campfire inventory and started eating the cooked meat that had been cooking while he was distracted.
After filling his hunger, Fer ate the berries he had collected earlier until his water bar was full.
Before closing the interface, Fer wanted to see how his stats looked after adding the five points.

As Fer was about to close the menu, he suddenly remembered that more than a day had passed since he last checked the mods menu, where the time for two new mods to appear should have ended by now.
Fer quickly pressed to see the changes that could benefit him in the not-too-distant future.
