A simple cafe, which was almost empty at this time, became a very cosy place to spend time in the company of a beautiful heroine. We kept our costumes on, simply giving autographs and taking selfies. All this was not without the condition that the video and photo materials would be published on the Internet only after we left. I think that the place will soon get more visitors when the picture with me and Starlight will be hung on the wall.

- Here are the doughnuts! - With a smile the waitress put the plates in front of us, having started her work with great enthusiasm after our appearance in the cafe. - Bon appetit!

- She's definitely a fan. - Annie whispered to me, taking a sip of coffee. A disgusting drink, by the way. Cold milk was much better and definitely tastier.

- What? Really? I thought I was just being sensitive, after she walked past me for the tenth time, asking if we needed anything. - Rolled my eyes, showing my attitude.

- You're being too hard on her. It's not every day that Homelander walks into a regular café.

- Feeling like the object of dirty fantasies isn't so pleasant when you literally see it in a person's eyes.

- That's not the way I looked at it. - Annie groaned and still took the sweet treat in her hands, taking a bite.

She moaned with pleasure, squeezing her eyes shut. But seeing my surprised look, the blonde carefully put the doughnut in its place, licking her lips.

- What?

- You're eating that doughnut so appetisingly.... if I had seen it in an advert, I would have bought it without thinking twice.

- Thank you. Was that a compliment?

- Certainly not a complaint, - I grinned, having tasted a similar flour product. Only after tasting it thoroughly, he decided to make a verdict. - No, it's just an ordinary doughnut. Not bad, but a little sweet.

- In our house, sweets were taboo, and Mum was very strict about it. But Dad. he liked to break that taboo behind her back. And he used to buy me chocolate-covered doughnuts.

- Sounds like he was a pretty good dad.

- Yeah, he was. - She took a sip of her fresh coffee and thought about it. - Have you seen Stormfront's appeal online?

- I don't follow her on social media.

- So you'll be interested to see it, then. - Annie stated, handing me her phone.

With a sceptical expression on my face, I looked at the smartphone screen. Before I could deal with one problem, another popped up. On the screen was a video message that Stormfront hadn't been too lazy to record.

- Are we going to wait for someone to die now?! I'm sick and tired of shouting this at Wout! And what are they doing to prevent attacks? Not a damn thing! Let's try to get through to them. Tomorrow, we'll meet in Wout Square.

I just couldn't get my head round how she could be allowed to do that. Usually in such situations, it's a good idea to stop the initiator from doing anything stupid. But people's interest in it is understandable, it's not something you see every time. And apparently, Wout is fine with it.

- What do you think?

- I still don't know what Stan Edgar is trying to achieve by creating opposition within the company.

- So Stormfront is doing what the CEO tells him to do? - The blonde frowned.

- That's right. Perhaps he wants to create a controlled opponent, a fiction," he sipped from his glass, giving his companion time to realise what was happening under her nose. - He is a clever man. If it were otherwise, he wouldn't have grown to this position.

- And I believed her. - Annie muttered frustratedly, probably feeling more stupid than she really was.

- Practically everyone believed her. There were only a few details that only a couple of people knew about. - I pointed out an obvious fact.

- That doesn't change the fact that she's getting away with it.

- Wout's support is no joke; I'd be more surprised if she failed.

The conversation was interrupted by the insistent ringing of my smartphone, with Stillwell's name popping up on the screen. Sighing, I picked up the receiver, bringing the phone to my ear.

- Get to the tower now.

As soon as the words were out, she hung up the phone. I looked at the screen in bewilderment, then turned my gaze to the interested blonde.

- I have to leave your company. - I smiled strainedly, to which she nodded seriously.

- I see.

- Goodbye, Starlight.

- I will, John. - She winked, whispering my name.

Nodding, I got up from the table and headed for the exit. Then I was on the right floor for the usual flight, which lasted less than two minutes. I didn't wait for the lift and used the stairs, where the flight was not forbidden. The door to Stillwell's office swung open, revealing a tense woman staring at the television.

Involuntarily, I joined her, watching the commotion that was going on live. People waved flags, threw stones and armed themselves with sticks. And all this against the backdrop of the US embassy, where all the anger of the crowd was directed. So far, it hasn't come to a deadly level, but it won't be for long.

- You need to fly there. - A woman finally spoke up, getting my attention.

- What's the army for if they can't disperse them?

- They don't have the manpower to get there on such short notice. It's a matter of minutes.- It's the army, isn't there anyone available?

- I don't know all the details, but it's hot enough as it is. They can't spare any men," Madeline sighed, giving in to her emotions. - The whole world is watching, the situation is getting worse. And the only one who can solve this situation in a short time is standing in front of me and trying to shirk his responsibilities.

- All right, what do we do? - I give up, under these arguments.

- You fly over there and stop this outrage. Ideally, you disperse the crowd. If not, you'll hold it until the military gets there. As long as there are no casualties.

- I got it.

I left the building immediately, determined to get this thing over with. It'll be easy to scare the crowd, especially with my capabilities, which every dog knows about. And then I could fly home, because in a couple of days I'd be on set for the shoot, and I'd be on set all day long. There'll be no time for Ryan.

I landed hard on my knee in front of the embassy with a thud, silencing the rioters. Standing up on my feet, I scrutinised their worried faces. They recognised me and understood that now they had no choice but to disperse. With a chuckle, I looked at the embassy itself, with its windows smashed in. The gates hadn't suffered much damage and hadn't been kicked in those couple of minutes.

- Okay, fun's over. You can go home now. - He turned to the crowd, clapping his hands.

The people flinched, but didn't move a step. They were obviously serious about coming here. The man in front of me shouted something menacingly, which was echoed by the others. To be honest, I didn't understand what they were saying in their own language. And accordingly, I had no idea of the purpose of the gathered people. So I only had to look at them, with scepticism in my eyes. For fun, I took a step forward, which caused a large group of people to move back. I could easily read the horror in their eyes. It reminded me of puppies that could only yap, but when you got close, they would run away with their tails tucked.

A smile appeared on my face, and the man who'd shouted before clenched his hand into a fist. But he wasn't going to fight. No, he shouted something again in his own language, which for once sounded familiar to me. I recognise the word "Allah" everywhere, and accordingly I could make a rough guess as to why they had gathered here. In this I was actively helped by the man who pointed at me, repeating the same thing all the time. The crowd joined him without question.

Religion. came to me. What else? Of course everything is tied to religion, and it's all the fault of the V drug. I'm probably accused of being a fake god created by the devil or someone else. It's as simple as that. Sighing, I rolled my eyes at the primitiveness of these people's thinking, it was useless to argue with them. And it would be impossible to disperse them without using force, so we'd have to wait for the military. That couldn't help but spoil my mood.

- I'm so sick of this. - I furrowed my eyebrows, looking at the spitting natives who decided to go against the country with nuclear weapons.

Cowardly little buggers who could only scream and throw tantrums. And when someone stronger than them appeared, all courage and chutzpah disappeared. Those faces made me feel disgust, contempt, as if for a vile creature. And the noise they made was doubly annoying. One of them seemed to get up his spirits so much that he threw a stone at me. Strangely enough, it hit me.

- I'm not going to let it go, you fucking monkey. - I hissed through clenched teeth and went straight for the insolent man, easily pushing the crowd away.

A couple of seconds later I reached the smiling freak, who was looking at me defiantly. The people who were crowded around me were moving away so that they could see everything better. And I only got angrier, realising that he knew about the cameras that were filming everything. My hand clenched into a fist and a burning hatred flared in my chest that demanded an immediate release. And you know what? I know where to let it out.

- Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!! - Everything was drowned in a hysterical female scream when my fist met the jaw of the filthy animal.

The lower jaw was simply ripped from its face, with a splatter of blood. I could see the shock on the face of this underling who had only just realised what had happened. The fear on the faces of these dumb cattle that didn't take the chance to just walk away. The freak's body fell to the ground, drenching the ground in blood. He would live, but he would be unable to eat solid food. A smile appeared on my face as I imagined this picture.

But it didn't end there. This crowd was as brainless as the rubbish lying on the ground. They followed suit and started throwing rocks at me, despite what they had seen. Now I was really convinced that I was a biomurderer that didn't deserve to live. My eyes lit up with a bright red light and a heat ray mercilessly went through their bodies, with slurping sounds. The screams of these animals didn't bother me, my rage seemed to drown it all out. And the red beam pierced through their bodies so easily that I was even sorry that their deaths were so quick.

Already a couple of seconds later, I stood in the circle of corpses and grimaced with a sense of revulsion. My feet pushed off the ground and my body rose a couple of metres so that I could see the whole picture. The punishment of heaven had caught up with the filthy animals who had decided they could control me. And I was satisfied with the work done, except that my rage did not want to fade, as if supported by something.

That hunch immediately made me alert, and I felt something. Something seemed to penetrate my head and only now I managed to notice it when there were no other stimuli left. My head automatically turned towards one of the rooftops where a man was standing, watching me intently. As soon as our gazes crossed, his eyes reflected genuine fear. But the rage quickly receded, allowing me to think freely.

- How dare you?! - My shout made the windows shake and the car alarms of the nearby cars go off.

Now I was really angry. The bearded brainwashed man tried to run away, heading towards the stairs. But my body blocked his path, and my eyes were ready to burn a hole in him at any moment. He backed up, but still tried to use his powers on me again. Again I felt his presence, and the fear of him, which gradually increased. Only one thing he hadn't taken into account: now I was aware of him.

- Not this time, you bastard.

With a single will of my own, I shoved him out of my head, causing him to wail, clutching his head. Taking mercy on him, I decided to help him a little in such a difficult endeavour by placing my palms over his hands. I ecstatically heard every crack that appeared in his skull, reveled in his cries, and kept pressing. Until his head burst open, splattering bits of his brains on my face. Now I was truly satisfied.
