I Will Raise It as the Best Family in the World

Chapter 12

“Young Miss, Young Master. You must not say such things.”

When Woonyeong stopped and stood still, staring at Seol Dopung and Seol Yohong, the contemplative nanny stepped forward and spoke.

“You, get out of here. How dare such a lowly thing interfere.”

“What’s the problem with calling her idiot?”

The two pushed the nanny and started yelling at her.

They truly must have been crazy. She tried to watch them quietly, but they crossed the line.

Seeing someone disrespecting the nanny, Woonyeong’s eyes flashed with anger.

‘How did I endure putting up with them?’

Exceptional children often matured early, and Woonyeong was no exception. Without anyone needing to tell her, she quickly understood her own situation.

The fact that the Head of the Family, Seol Wonpyeong, doesn’t like her, Seol Jadan finds it difficult to face her, and Seol Dojin is not likely pleased with her existence…

Therefore, Woonyeong didn’t go out of the Crimson Chamber residence and lived quietly.

She was ten years old, that is until she fell ill not long ago.

‘They were the ones who spread the negative rumors about my mother… Especially regarding her background.’

While there were many people in Woonyeong’s residence, those always around her were the nanny, Sogyo, and Hyangah.

They tried their best to protect Woonyeong in every way they could and remained silent about her mother.

Woonyeong remembered the nanny’s sad expression when asked about her mother. After that, she never mentioned her mother again in front of the nanny.

However, she couldn’t erase her longing. She must have felt lonely too. Perhaps that’s why she wanted to socialize with peers who visited the Crimson Chamber.

 Because Woonyeong was a child.

So she listened carefully to what those children, Yohong and Dopung, were saying.

 The beginning was very trivial.

 – Did you know? My mother said that, your mother, she said she was very beautiful?

At first, the children cautiously mentioned her mother, making Woonyeong couldn’t help but listen.

‘I wanted to know such stories too… because I was curious about my mother.’

Slowly, the story turned into something bad.

 – I heard that your mother was a courtesan? They said she was the daughter of a high-ranking official, but their family fell, so she became a courtesan. Isn’t that the important part, that she was a courtesan?

 – I heard something else. They say your mother was a slave? Even though she was a lowly person, her face was so smooth that the Young Lord must have noticed. She was a bit weird.

As she continued to just listen to their stories, the malicious words gradually turned towards Woonyeong.

 – If you’re the daughter of a lowly person, then you must have lowly blood too. Unlike us, of course.

 – Your mother committed sins, so you were born weak. That’s why you’re always so sickly, like an idiot, right?

 – They say that the reason you are stupid is because of your mother. You inherited lowly blood, after all.

 – How did someone like you end up being born in the Seol family… The Young Lord must be having such a hard time.

They realized that no matter what they said, it wouldn’t cause any problems.

Woonyeong never told Seol Jadan or Seol Dojin about their words and actions.

 ‘Because I didn’t want to cause trouble…’

Woonyeong considered it best to endure quietly and let things pass simply.

She even ordered the servants and her nanny to remain silent because she didn’t want to give Seol Jadan a hard time.

 Perhaps Woonyeong was afraid, too.

Seol Wonpyeong favored his nephew, Seol Jacheong.

Having lost his parents at a young age, Seol Wonpyeong allowed him to reside in his residence and didn’t separate him after marriage. Moreover, he gave up a position in the Seolwon Escort Agency, and there were rumors that Seol Jacheong would take over it.

Although he was a distant relative, he was treated almost no differently from an immediate family member.

When a problem arose with Seol Jacheong, she was afraid to check whether Seol Wonpyeong and Seol Jadan would take his side.

So she endured it and endured it again.

Without knowing it could hurt her young heart.

‘Come to think of it, it’s… true that I’m an idiot. Even if I’m insulted, I can’t argue back.’

As her body grew weaker, so did her mind.

Those with a broken heart became good prey for those with malicious intent.

After receiving a terminal diagnosis, it’s undeniable that their influence played a role in distancing her from her family.

‘Well, I was a fool, that’s for sure. No matter what they said, I should have overcome it, but I couldn’t. Why was that my past self?’

Why on earth did they do that?

Woonyeong knew that it wasn’t just those children who harbored ill intentions.

Perhaps Seol Jacheong and his wife were behind it.

‘It’s not like there’s no reason to be suspicious, but… we’ll resolve that later. First, I have to take care of them first. I have to do what I can first.’

Woonyeong thought for a moment about how to deal with them.

Finally, she sorted out her thoughts.

Meanwhile, Yohong and Dofung were chattering away like ducks, full of things to say.

Woonyeong raised her hand and pretended to pick her ear, then took a step forward and spoke to her nanny.

 “Nanny, step back.”

 “Yes, Young Miss.”

 “A few more steps.”

 “But, Young Miss…”

 “It’s okay, Nanny.”

The voice was colder than usual.

Woonyeong exuded a subtle aura. Although he may not be able to show off the same deadly force as in the past as a sword demon, it will be enough to scare children.

Woonyeong pushed the nanny aside and scanned Yohong and Dopung, who were staring at her.

Although Woonyeong was currently low in stamina and lacked any internal energy, with determination alone, handling them would be a piece of cake.

But using her hands is a waste of time. She would never, ever consider hitting them, not because she lacked strength and might have to hit repeatedly.

“W, why are you looking at me like that…”

Dopung stuttered, perhaps sensing something from Woonyeong’s gaze.

The confident demeanor they had been displaying up until now completely vanished.

Woonyeong took a step forward towards the children. In a very soft voice, audible to the children but not to those who are watching.

 “I don’t know… Uhm, your ugly appearance?”

“What? What did you say? What did you say just now?”

“I’ve been looking at your ugly faces, and on top of that, you’re squealing like pigs. It’s hard not to notice, isn’t it?”

Both them and Woonyeong were young. It was difficult to make an issue out of hearing disrespectful remarks here. They would just let it slide.

It won’t affect them that much.

 That’s how kids fight.

‘Then I just need to make sure it’s no longer the children’s problem. After all, I am the precious Young Miss of the Seol family.’

Seeing the children flustered, Woonyeong smiled wryly and whispered softly once again.

“Yohong, you really look just like Aunt. I’m sure you’ll grow up just like Aunt.”

“You… What are you talking about?”

“Oh my, why? You don’t like people saying you look like your mother?”

“Hey, have you finished talking? How dare you when you’re such a lowly thing!”

Aunt Jin Sook wasn’t considered a beauty. Therefore, Woonyeong knew that Yohong disliked being compared to Jin Sook.

 And Seol Dopung…

“No, I haven’t finished it, though? Seol Dopung. You’re really… small, aren’t you? Smaller than me? You don’t seem like you’ll grow any taller, so… tsk. How could you ever learn martial arts properly?”

Dopung had a small stature, and even after several years, he didn’t grow much taller.

He was even smaller than Woonyeong, who was one year younger. Despite Woonyeong’s frail health and small stature.

“This, this… Hey, you… lowly thing.”

As expected, Dopung reacted to being called small.

Dopung raised his hand towards Woonyeong.

Seol Jacheong worked in the Escort Agency, so his son Dopung was taught martial arts. Rumors spread throughout the neighborhood about Dopung having potential in martial arts and having a great teacher.

‘As expected, that’s just like you doing something like that.’

Dopung’s movements were slow. No, perhaps for his age, they could have been considered fast.

However, in Woonyeong’s eyes, they seemed endlessly slow. Every movement stood out distinctly to her. It was a level that even if he tried to match, he couldn’t.

Woonyeong watched until the end as Dopung’s arm moved, and just as his fist was about to touch her cheek, Woonyeong swiftly turned her head to dodge it.

But she pretended to have been hit properly and fell down. The moment she fell, she didn’t forget to quickly touch the blood on her nose.

If she could manipulate her energy, it would have been easier, but for now, she settled by touching the blood.

‘If I press like this, yes… the blood will burst.’

To those watching, it would have appeared that Woonyeong fell to the ground with her nose bleeding after being hit by Dopung’s fist.

Woonyeong didn’t forget to smile at Seol Dopung and slowly closed her eyes.

 “Young Miss!”

 “Young Miss Woonyeong!”

The embarrassed nanny called out to Woonyeong and ran to hug her. And as Wooyeong left the garden, Wei Jeonggon, the head of the household’s inner court of the Seol family who had been paying attention to the sounds since Woonyeong left the garden, came running over.

Everything was going according to Woonyeong’s plan.

Woonyeong closed her eyes and apologized to the nanny inwardly.

‘Nanny, I’m sorry for causing you worry again. For this time, please forgive me, just this once. But why… like this…’

She wanted to pretend to fall down, but Woonyeong’s body was weaker than she thought. She actually lost consciousness.

‘My young body is useless. When will it get better, when!’

Seol Dopung stood there blankly, even as he watched Woonyeong lose consciousness.

He couldn’t come to his senses even when he saw Wi Jeonggon, the head of the household’s inner court, suddenly appear and lift Woonyeong.

Without a doubt, the fist didn’t even touch Woonyeong. No, it didn’t even graze her.

There was no feeling whatsoever, but Woonyeong collapsed.

‘I didn’t feel anything, though? Or did I? Why did she fall? Did I hit her with my fist? Could it be that his martial arts skills have improved? Did I release some kind of fist technique?’

Dopung lowered his gaze and looked at his fist.

In a doubtful situation, Woonyeong collapsed. Seeing this, Yohong shouted at Dopung.

“Hey, you idiot. What have you done? I told you she’s sick!”

Ah, that’s right. He heard recently that Woonyeong hasn’t been well. He also heard something about a terminal illness.

 Seol Dopung’s face turned pale.
