I was sold to a dangerous place in order to repay my parents’ debt, and I ended up being bought by a vampire young lady. I became the feed for the beautiful maid.

Chapter 35: - The handsome transfer student is actually the hero...

The handsome transfer student is actually the hero…

Once Sakura’s confession was over, just when I thought it was done,  the confession to Lilith began.

What on earth is this?

Was I just completely oblivious to the fact that confessions like these are such a common occurrence?

It’s an indescribable déjà vu that’s causing a headache.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone else’s confession, and I have to admit, it’s quite awkward to be a spectator,” Sakura, who’s hiding with me, murmurs.

Observing the situation she was recently a part of, it’s really uncomfortable and awkward.

I can totally understand that feeling.

Even though I just happened to be there, somehow I feel like I’ve done something wrong.

Without realizing that we’re empathizing, Lilith opens her mouth in response to the feelings expressed…

“I’m sorry~. I don’t know much about you, so I can’t be in a relationship with you Senpai” Lilith lightly rejected with a carefree tone.

The way she turned him down was quite nonchalant. Given Lilith’s perspective on love, it’s a natural response.

The cat-eared senpai, who was rejected in such an anticlimactic way, widens his eyes in surprise.

“Hold on a second, did I get that wrong? I actually clinched first place in the county track meet—”

“Is that so?” Lilith responded, her tone expressing a complete lack of interest.

Even though the cat-eared senpai was boasting about his own achievements, Lilith’s response was blatantly disinterested.

No interest whatsoever, really.

A sense of pity seems to clothe Cat-eared senpai, creating an atmosphere of sympathy around him.

“W-Why am I not good enough! I’m not dating anyone, so what’s the problem!”

Whether he realises he’s being disregarded or not, he’s definitely becoming more and more agitated.

Honestly, his argument sounds pretty self-centered.

“It’s up to Lilith who she wants to date… It’s just ridiculous and hard to watch,” Sakura chimes in.

“Agreed.”

Sakura seems to share the sentiment, probably having encountered similar situations.

Why are there so many guys who can’t accept rejection?

Beyond exasperation, as cat-eared senpai gets emotional, he says…

“Wait, are you actually dating that Tsujizono guy!?”

“!?”

Along with a misunderstanding of monumental proportions, they mention my name.

Again with this!

Isn’t it a bit too quick for someone’s name to spread like wildfire!? And on top of that, they’re causing a fuss about me dating Lilith – I can’t deal with this madness!!

Lilith, with a slightly widened gaze, seems to contemplate cat-eared senpai’s unexpected question, briefly looking away.

“Oh, Ikkun and I are really close, but we’re not dating or anything.” she says, wearing a faint smile.

“But you’re still sucking his life essence, aren’t you?”

“It’s just the sustenance my employer provides. I always find it quite delectable,” she replies with an ecstatic smile, even as she denies any romantic involvement.

I kinda wish she didn’t reject him in a way that makes people hate me more. I’m getting scared that someone might try to get back at me!

As expected, the cat-eared senpai grinds his teeth in frustration.

Having a hunch that things might take a turn for the worse, I prepare myself to step in if needed.

“Don’t act all high and mighty just because you’re popular! You’re a succubus, for crying out loud, so why not just give in and let me have some fun!!”

Before long, the enraged cat-eared senpai lunges at Lilith.

Letting out a resigned sigh, I burst into a sprint in an instant…

“Watch out!!”

“Eek!”

Just before I can reach them, someone steps between Lilith and cat-eared senpai.

This person smoothly elbows cat-eared senpai aside, pulling off a perfect countermove.

Even though cat-eared senpai’s tough due to being from the beast tribe, he seems to realize he’s overmatched and hobbles away while holding his stomach.

I turn my gaze to the person who intervened and…

With neatly cropped chestnut hair, striking emerald eyes brimming with determination, and features that could give any fairy tale prince a run for their money.

Judging by the color of his tie, he’s probably in the same grade, but I can’t remember seeing his face before.

Amidst the whirlwind of events, he realizes the situation has calmed down and he turns towards Lilith with a charming smile.

“Are you alright?”

“Um, yeah…”

Surprised by the sudden turn of events, Lilith responds despite her confusion.

Sakura and I finally snap out of our daze and rush over to her side.

“Lilith!”

“Are you alright, Lilith?”

“Ikkun, Sakuchan? Why are you guys here?”

I guess it’s only natural for Lilith to ask why we appeared at such a convenient time. I explain what happened – how I stumbled upon Sakura’s confession scene first and then ended up in the situation we’re in now.

After hearing everything, Lilith’s expression softens, her smile carrying a hint of apology.

“I see… I’m sorry for worrying you.”

“No, the fault lies with the one who can’t accept rejection.”

“Right. I’m glad you’re not hurt, Lilith.”

After exchanging comforting words, Sakura and I look over to the handsome guy who came to Lilith’s aid.

It seems like he had been waiting patiently until our conversation concluded. Now that it’s his turn, he smiles genially, clearly ready to introduce himself.

“Pleasure to meet you. I’m Yuto Braveheart, and I just transferred to this school today. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance as fellow classmates.”

“Braveheart… Could you be from the Viscount household?”

“You’re familiar with the name?”

“Yes, indeed. They’re a lesser noble family, but they’re renowned for cultivating exceptionally proficient soldiers. The elite guards at the gate checkpoints are all honed in Braveheart territory.”

“I see…”

Yuto seems pleased with my impressed reaction.

“That’s right! I’ve come here to study as part of my social education as the heir and to fulfill my purpose as a future hero. Since we’ll be attending the same school, there’s no need to be formal. Feel free to call me Yuto.”

“Sure, I’ll do that, Yuto. And as for me…”

“Oh, I apologize for jumping in, but there’s something I absolutely need to convey.”

“S-Something you need to tell?”

He stops me before I can even introduce myself. It must be pretty serious if he’s cutting into someone else’s conversation like this.

Curious about what he wants to say, I observe as Yuto elegantly kneels down.

His demeanor is reminiscent of a knight swearing fealty to a princess.

Taking Lilith’s hand, he gazes into her eyes with profound sincerity.

“True to my promise from twelve years ago, I’ve become a distinguished hero, and now I’ve come to meet you. Once we’ve completed high school, let’s get married… Lilith.”

“Huh?”

“Whaaat?!”

The words of the proposal directed at Lilith in front of everyone…

A promise?

A hero?

Marriage?

Even though the words weren’t that long, it takes my brain a moment to fully process them. But eventually, I comprehend the meaning and…

“E-e-e-e-e-e-ehhhhhhh?!”

I unleash a scream that seems to shatter the very air in my astonishment. Sakura seems shocked too, even though she doesn’t audibly react, it’s clear from her expression.

(“What on earth is going on today?!”)

Not only did I witness two confession scenes, but now I’ve even seen a proposal. Is it an unlucky day or something?

On the brink of mental overload, I stumble for words as Lilith, faced with her own proposal, widens her purple eyes.

How long did the silence last? Eventually, Lilith slowly opens her mouth and…

“— I don’t remember anything about it, so I’ll decline♪”

“Huh?”

“E-e-e-e-e-e-ehhhhhhh?!”

The way she turned down the proposal!?

Please forgive me for shouting again at her nonchalant rejection. These abrupt twists are overwhelmingly impossible to keep up with. Should I just go home already?
