Chapter 28: Kokabiel - 1
The air thickened with tension as Freed's words echoed in the stillness, his grin widening.
"someone wants to talk to you, my friend," he said, his voice dripping with malice. The sky darkened, casting an ominous shadow over the group, and an unsettling presence filled the area.
Suddenly, the unmistakable figure of a fallen angel with ten wings appeared, hovering gracefully above them. His wings, dark and ethereal, spread wide as his voice rang out with cold certainty.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, 'the Noblesse'," he said, his gaze landing on Raizel with a mixture of arrogance and disdain. "And the daughters of the House of Gremory and Sitri."
The fallen angel's presence was overwhelming, and the air seemed to grow heavier with each word he spoke. His wings fluttered slightly as he surveyed the group.
Raizel, unfazed by the arrival of this new adversary, maintained his stoic expression, his eyes narrowing slightly as he sized up the fallen angel. His voice, when he spoke, was calm and commanding. "You must be one of the higher-ups of the fallen angels. What business do you have with us?"
Before the fallen angel could respond, a new voice cut through the tension. Frankenstein appeared in the midst of the group, stepping forward with an air of quiet authority.
His presence immediately drew everyone's attention, as he stood tall and composed, his calm demeanor a stark contrast to the chaos unfolding around them.
Frankenstein's gaze landed on the fallen angel and Freed.
"My master just wanted to spend quiet time in this new era," he said, his voice carrying a weight that made the air itself seem to pause. "And you are disturbing his life. You'll pay for this disturbance."
Raizel's eyes glowed slightly with his aura, his focus unwavering. He could sense the threat in the air, and while he was not intimidated, he knew this encounter would not be an easy one.
His voice was quiet but carried an undeniable authority as he addressed the group. "I would suggest you to remain behind Frankenstein. This is not a matter you can control so easily."
Freed chuckled darkly. "Oh, this will be fun. Let's see how you handle this."
"What do you intend to do?" Raizel asked.
The silence stretched between the group and Kokabiel, the fallen angel with ten wings hovered with an air of arrogance, his dark eyes scanning those before him.
There was no immediate response to Raizel's direct question about his motives. Instead, Kokabiel's smile remained cold, as if savoring the moment.
Finally, his voice broke the stillness, smooth and condescending.
"I am Kokabiel," he began, his wings flexing behind him with an unsettling grace. "A fallen angel, yes, but much more than that." His eyes flickered toward Raizel, an unspoken challenge in his gaze.
"I have my reasons for being here, but you could say... I have my sights set on something far greater than your petty conflicts."
He paused, enjoying the discomfort that settled over the group. As his wings fluttered, he continued, his tone almost gleeful.
"You see, I am tired of being in the shadows, hiding in the underworld. I wish to bring about a new era. One where angels, fallen angels, and devils bow to the will of the strongest. The world will no longer be governed by ancient laws or powerless factions."
Raizel's eyes narrowed as he listened intently. He could sense the dangerous ambition in Kokabiel's words. This was no ordinary fallen angel. Kokabiel wasn't just challenging them for a skirmish; he was speaking of about starting a war between factions.
"I have come here," Kokabiel continued, now addressing everyone present, "to destroy the balance, to break the chains of this world. The devils, the angels, and even the fallen—none of them deserve to hold any kind of dominion over the future."
"I will bring forth a new order, where only strength will rule. And those who oppose me," he sneered, "will fall."
The air thickened as his intentions became clearer. Raizel's expression remained stoic. Kokabiel was after more than just power—he was seeking to overthrow the very fabric of the supernatural world. The ramifications of his plans were immense, and Raizel knew that they had to stop him before he could put them into motion.
"But I doubt you have the strength to stop me, Noblesse," Kokabiel taunted, his eyes flickering with challenge. "Though, I must admit, I am intrigued. You are no ordinary Noble, are you? You're more than what I had expected."
Raizel's calm, collected demeanor didn't waver as he met Kokabiel's gaze.
"It's not about power," he said quietly, his voice steady but carrying an edge of warning. "It's about responsibility, and knowing what is worth protecting. If your 'new order' threatens the lives of those I hold dear, then you'll have to face me. And I won't let you destroy this world, no matter your ambition."
Kokabiel's smile faltered for a split second before it returned, wider than before. "We shall see, Noblesse. We shall see."
As Kokabiel's light spear tore through the air, the brilliance of its energy was almost blinding. With a swift motion, Raizel unsheathed his katana, its blade shimmering in the dim light as he swung it horizontally.
The light spears collided with the edge of his blade, deflected with a powerful shockwave that sent ripples of energy through the atmosphere, but none of the light managed to pierce his defenses.
The ground cracked beneath his feet, but Raizel remained standing, unyielding. His eyes fixed firmly on Kokabiel as the fallen angel hovered above, ready to strike again.
The battle had only just begun, but Raizel could already feel the weight of Kokabiel's immense power. However, there was no fear in his gaze—only resolve.
He turned slightly toward Frankenstein, his voice calm but carrying an undeniable authority. "Frankenstein," he called, his tone gentle, "protect everyone from Freed. I'll handle Kokabiel."
Frankenstein, who had been standing by, watching the confrontation unfold, gave a slight nod.
His usual casual demeanor shifted into one of focus as he stepped forward, his hands crackling with energy. "Understood, Master," Frankenstein replied, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "Leave Freed to me. I won't let anyone get hurt."
With a swift gesture, Frankenstein summoned his power, a massive barrier of energy forming around Rias, Akeno, Sona, and the others to shield them from the dangerous onslaught of attacks.
The barrier pulsed with energy, glowing faintly, providing a secure defense against any incoming attacks from Freed.
As Frankenstein's moved to confront Freed, Raizel turned his full attention back to Kokabiel, who was already preparing for another barrage of light spears. The fallen angel's cold smile widened.
"You're a lot strong as I expected, Noblesse," Kokabiel taunted, his eyes glinting with amusement. "But it won't be enough to stop me."
Raizel's expression remained unchanged. "You should know by now," he said, his voice low and steady.
With a fluid motion,he stepped forward, vanishing from his original position. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of Kokabiel, his katana raised high.
Kokabiel barely had time to react as Raizel unleashed a series of rapid strikes, each one faster than the last, cutting through the air like a blur. The speed and precision of his attacks left no room for Kokabiel to counter, forcing him to retreat back into the sky.
Kokabiel gritted his teeth, clearly frustrated by Raizel's overwhelming speed.
He leveled his gaze at the Noblesse, his eyes glowing with anger. "You're an anomaly, Raizel," he hissed, "But this will not end the way you think. I'll bring about the destruction of this world, even if I have to do it alone."
As Kokabiel prepared his next attack, Raizel readied himself, his senses heightened, awaiting the next move of his opponent. The battle between them was only just beginning.
