Chapter 19: Day off and date

The Rating Game was behind them, and life had returned to a semblance of normalcy. With the weekend upon them, Kuoh Academy was bustling with its annual cleaning event.

However, Raizel and Akeno had other plans—plans that didn't involve scrubbing classrooms or organizing storerooms.

'The plan'

"Shall we go?" Akeno asked, her usual teasing smile playing on her lips as she stood beside Raizel.

Raizel nodded, his calm demeanor ever present. "Yes, let's make the most of today."

Their plan was simple: spend the day together, away from the confines of the Occult Research Club and the pressures of their supernatural lives.

A day to unwind, enjoy each other's company, and perhaps deepen the bond they had been steadily nurturing.

'The Stroll Through Town'

The two of them strolled through the bustling streets of Kuoh Town, the sun shining brightly overhead.

Akeno wore a light, flowing dress that complemented her graceful movements, while Raizel maintained his usual composed elegance, his presence commanding attention without effort.

As Raizel and Akeno strolled down the bustling street, it was impossible not to notice the attention they garnered. Both male and females turned their heads, some with admiration, others with curiosity, all captivated by the striking pair.

Raizel, his ever-calm demeanor unshaken, glanced at Akeno. "Is it just me, or are they looking more intently than when I used to walk alone?"

Akeno chuckled softly, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Well, you are quite the sight, Raizel. But walking with me probably adds a little extra flair, don't you think?"

Raizel tilted his head slightly, considering her words. "Perhaps. Or maybe it's your presence that draws them in."

Akeno's smile widened, a playful glint in her eyes. "Flattery will get you everywhere."

Raizel responded with a faint smile of his own. "I speak only the truth."

The two continued their walk, their graceful strides and elegant presence making them seem almost otherworldly. The attention didn't faze them; if anything, it became a silent testament to the unique connection they shared.

As they walked, the world seemed to fall away, leaving just the two of them in their own little bubble of serenity amidst the crowd.

They explored various shops, browsed through bookstores, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the weekend crowd. Akeno occasionally teased Raizel, pointing out cute trinkets and sweets, while Raizel responded with his signature calm, occasionally offering subtle but endearing compliments.

'A Curious Pursuit'

Unbeknownst to them, their friends from the Occult Research Club had taken an interest in their outing. Curiosity had gotten the better of Issei, Koneko, Asia, and even Kiba, who decided to follow them discreetly, or so they thought.

"Do you think they're on a date?" Issei whispered, trying to stay out of sight.

Koneko, munching on a snack, replied bluntly, "Obviously."

Asia blushed at the thought, while Kiba merely chuckled, enjoying the lighthearted spying.

'The Café'

Raizel and Akeno eventually found themselves at a quaint little café. They chose a cozy corner table, the perfect spot for an intimate conversation. As they sipped their drinks, their conversation flowed effortlessly, touching on everything from their past experiences to their hopes for the future.

Akeno leaned forward slightly, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "You know, Raizel, you've become quite popular. Even more so after the Rating Game."

Raizel tilted his head slightly, a hint of curiosity in his gaze. "Is that so? And how do you feel about that?"

Akeno's smile softened. "I don't mind. As long as I get to spend moments like this with you."

Raizel's eyes softened, his usual stoicism giving way to a gentle warmth. "I feel the same."

---

'The Discovery'

Meanwhile, their friends had taken a seat a few tables away, trying to blend in. However, their attempts at subtlety were less than successful.

Issei leaned over to Kiba. "Do you think they've noticed us?"

Kiba chuckled. "I'm pretty sure they have."

Indeed, Raizel and Akeno were well aware of their observers. Akeno leaned in closer to Raizel, whispering, "Should we let them continue their little game?"

Raizel's lips curved into a faint smile. "Let's see how long they can keep up."

---

'The Park'

After finishing their drinks, Raizel and Akeno decided to take a walk in the nearby park. The serene environment provided a perfect backdrop for their conversation. They talked about everything and nothing, enjoying the simplicity of each other's company.

As they walked along a quiet path, Akeno suddenly stopped, turning to face Raizel. "Thank you for today. It's been… perfect."

Raizel reached out, gently taking her hand. "It's been perfect because of you."

Akeno's cheeks flushed lightly, and she leaned in, placing a soft kiss on Raizel's cheek. "You're quite the charmer, Raizel."

Raizel's expression remained calm, but there was a small pink tint on his cheeks as he spoke volumes. "Only for you, Akeno."

---

'The Revelation'

Their friends, still attempting to remain inconspicuous, watched from a distance. Asia's face was bright red, and even Kiba seemed a bit taken aback by the intimacy of the moment.

Issei, on the other hand, was struggling to contain his frustration. "Why does Raizel get all the attention?"

Koneko, ever blunt, replied, "Because he's not a pervert."

Just then, Raizel and Akeno turned towards their hiding spot, their gazes locking onto their friends. Realizing they had been caught, the group sheepishly emerged from their hiding place.

Akeno laughed softly, her amusement evident. "You guys could have just joined us, you know."

Raizel, ever composed, simply nodded. "There's no need for subterfuge."

Issei scratched the back of his head, clearly embarrassed. "We were just… curious."

Raizel's lips twitched into a faint smile. "Curiosity is natural. Next time, feel free to ask."

---

'The End of the Day'

As the sun began to set, the group decided to head back. Despite the initial awkwardness, the day had turned into a pleasant outing for everyone.

Raizel and Akeno walked side by side, their hands occasionally brushing against each other. The bond between them had indeed deepened, and the day had been a testament to their growing connection.

As they reached the gates of Kuoh Academy, Raizel turned to Akeno, his voice soft. "Thank you for today. It's a memory I'll cherish."

Akeno smiled, her eyes reflecting her happiness. "Me too, Raizel. Let's make more memories together."

With that, they parted ways, the promise of more shared moments lingering in the air. And as they each returned to their respective routines, they knew that this was just the beginning of something truly special.
