Chapter 123: I Just Want a Single Ending [123]
"Even the manager accepted her set. You're not going to be the ones to refuse, right?"
Kamigawa Saku turned to the others with a smile.
"…"
Seika Ijichi, realizing she'd been subtly coaxed into accepting, blinked in mild surprise. But, having said it already, she couldn't take it back.
"Leave it to me! I'll definitely give you a top-notch review!"
Chihaya Anon was the first to agree.
She was already interested in cosmetics, and now that he'd gifted her such a variety with a genuine reason to use them, she couldn't think of a single reason to say no.
"Same here! I'll use them properly,"
Ikuyo Kita echoed, nodding enthusiastically.
After all, she owed Saku a few favors, and this was the perfect chance to repay him.
Her only concern was whether using these expensive cosmetics could really be considered a "thank you" to him. Honestly, calling it a perk seemed more fitting.
"I won't be shy about it."
Ryo Yamada was quick to accept her set, too.
"I'm probably clueless about all this, but I'll try my best."
Seeing everyone else, including her sister, accept their sets, Nijika Ijichi decided to follow suit.
Besides, she wanted to help Saku out however she could.
"Bocchi, you're not going to say no, are you?"
Saku finally looked to Gotoh Hitori, who was still sitting silently, looking conflicted.
Logically, she wouldn't turn him down.
"Um… I don't know much about this sort of thing. If you give these to me, I won't be able to offer any real feedback…"
Hitori's initial instinct had been to accept.
But as she thought about the price of these products, she hesitated.
As she'd already mentioned, she didn't know the first thing about cosmetics. She hadn't even recognized the Pitera Essence bottle.
Wouldn't it be a complete waste to give luxury cosmetics to someone like her?
And what if, after using them, Saku asked for her opinion and she couldn't think of a single thing to say? How would she ever repay him for such expensive gifts?
Even selling herself wouldn't be enough to cover it...
And so, torn between accepting and declining, Hitori found herself frozen.
"Can I take that to mean you're a complete beginner when it comes to makeup?" Saku asked, confirming her hesitation.
"Yes…"
Hitori nodded timidly.
"That's even better." Saku looked genuinely pleased.
"H-Huh? What do you mean?"
His unexpected reaction only made her more confused.
"Well, not everyone knows how to use makeup, and a lot of people have no idea what to expect from it. In other words, your perspective is really valuable—it'll help people understand how it feels for a complete beginner."
Saku reassured her with a smile, "Even if you know nothing about it, just describe your honest impressions."
"R-Really?"
Hitori couldn't help but feel a little swayed.
Saku stepped closer, his expression sincere. "It would mean a lot if you'd help me out with this."
"I-I'll do my best."
With him looking at her so earnestly, there was no way she could turn him down. Hitori's face broke into a shy, silly smile.
Who would have thought her inexperience could be so useful?
"Thank you."
Saku nodded with a smile of his own.
With that, everyone in the room had agreed to accept their cosmetics.
Mission accomplished.
"And what about me? Aren't you going to ask me?"
PA-san tapped her own shoulder, feigning offense at not being asked directly.
Saku turned to her. "Didn't you already agree at the start?"
"Oh, that's right."
PA-san realized she'd indeed been the first to accept.
No wonder he hadn't asked again.
So it turns out she was the easiest one to sway, giving in to his gift with barely any hesitation.
Not that she could be blamed. She spent at least 30,000 yen a month on skincare as it was.
Now, with his gifts, she could save on her usual expenses and enjoy top-tier products. It was a win-win situation.
She had absolutely no reason to say no.
With everyone on board, Saku began taking out each set of cosmetics and distributing them.
Everyone received their own set—except for the unexpected guest, Kikuri.
"Hey, Anon, any idea how much all this is worth?"
Hitori leaned over, speaking in a whisper as she surveyed the array of luxurious products in front of her.
"I'm not exactly sure, but I know it's really expensive."
Anon shrugged, equally awed.
Even though her family was well-off and her allowance was generous, these brands were still far beyond what she could afford with her own pocket money.
"I-I see…"
Realizing that even someone as financially comfortable as Anon couldn't estimate the cost, Hitori finally understood just how valuable these cosmetics were.
So valuable, in fact, that selling herself wouldn't be enough to repay him.
"Can I post these online?"
By now, Ikuyo Kita had her phone out, eagerly snapping photos of her new cosmetics as she asked for his permission.
"Sure, go ahead. Just say a friend gave them to you to try."
Saku knew that Ikuyo liked to share all sorts of photos on social media.
Whether it was places she visited with friends, delicious teas, or tempting desserts, her feed was always lively.
Naturally, if she suddenly received high-end gifts like these, it made sense she'd want to show them off.
As long as she didn't mention his name, he was fine with it.
"Don't worry, I'll just say a friend gave them to me,"
Ikuyo assured him quickly.
"Good."
That's right—he was that friend.

With the gift-giving finally complete, Saku and Chihaya Anon began tutoring Gotoh Hitori.
"So, for this question…"
Anon started to explain, but soon found herself looking between Saku, who was seated on Hitori's left, and Hitori, who sat between them.
It almost felt like the two of them were parents helping their child with homework.
Especially with Hitori's hair color—a light pink, just like Anon's.
To think, their kid would even share her hair color. It was almost… logical.
