Chapter 121: I Just Want a Single Ending [121]
"It's nothing, really. Just some cosmetics I brought as gifts for them."
Kamigawa Saku shifted slightly, making space for Seika Ijichi to peek inside the box.
"Oh, and there are sets in here for you and PA-san as well."
"For me?"
PA-san, who had only come over to join in on the fun, perked up at his words and hurried over.
"That's right."
Saku confirmed with a nod.
"What about me? Did you bring anything for me?"
Hiroi Kikuri, realizing she'd been left out, looked at him expectantly.
"Apologies, I didn't expect to see you here today, so I hadn't prepared anything."
Saku prided himself on being thorough, but Kikuri's appearance here had completely slipped his mind.
"If you'd like, I'll bring something for you next time we meet."
"What exactly are you giving them, anyway?"
She staggered over, her curiosity piqued.
"Cosmetics," Saku explained.
"Ah, never mind then. I don't have any use for that sort of thing."
For Kikuri, cosmetics paled in comparison to her one true love—alcohol.
"Alright then."
If she wasn't interested, Saku certainly wouldn't push it.
Chihaya Anon looked at him in disbelief, "Are you really giving all of this to us?"
After all, that bottle of Pitera Essence alone was among the cheaper items in the box.
For some of the others, she didn't even know the specific price—she could only make a rough estimate based on the brand names.
"Yes, of course. Why else would I bring all this over?"
If Soyo Nagasaki could accept the cosmetics, he hoped they would, too.
Just then, Yamada Ryo, who had been quietly studying all this time, put down her pen and approached the box.
After a quick glance, she looked at him in shock. "Did you rob a luxury store or something?"
"What do you take me for? I bought these."
Saku shook his head, unable to accept the accusation.
Didn't they know how lucrative a 600,000-follower Instagram account could be?
"This stuff is so expensive…"
Gotoh Hitori, her sense of value completely shaken, murmured in disbelief.
Just one of those tiny bottles cost twenty thousand yen, and there were seven identical ones in the box. That alone came to 140,000 yen.
Not to mention the other products, which were probably just as costly.
"These are far too extravagant. We really can't accept them." Nijika Ijichi's refusal was firm.
"These are still sealed. They could probably be returned, right?"
Ikuyo Kita chimed in, suggesting they consider a refund.
"How much are these cosmetics worth, anyway?"
Ignoring the playful banter between them, Seika Ijichi turned to PA-san, who seemed more knowledgeable in this area.
"I can't give an exact price, but I could probably afford one of them at least."
PA-san skimmed through the contents of the box, giving a rough assessment.
"You're that cheap?"
Seika raised an eyebrow, surprised.
"Or maybe… these items are just that expensive?"
PA-san glanced back at Saku, seeking confirmation, "You did say there was a set in here for me, right?"
"Correct."
Saku nodded.
"Awesome, this means I won't need to spend on skincare for a while!" PA-san cheered. "And I get to try out some high-end products, too."
"Wait… millions of yen?"
Kikuri blinked, her tipsiness fading slightly at the mention of such a high value.
"I said I didn't want any earlier. Can I take that back?"
"Of course you can."
Saku didn't mind at all.
"Waaah… I'm so moved," Kikuri said, putting on a mock show of tears.
Saku rolled his eyes. "Stop acting, that's a bit too fake."
"Hehe… caught me."
Kikuri scratched her head sheepishly, then pulled a box of alcohol out of her coat pocket and held it out to him. "Would you like a drink? It's on me."
It wasn't much, but it was all she had on hand to offer him in return.
"He's a first-year student, and here you are encouraging him to drink."
Before Saku could say anything, Seika intercepted, taking the alcohol away from him.
"Ah, sorry about that! Since he can't drink, could you give that back to me?"
Kikuri looked at her pitifully, hopeful to get her pricey bottle back.
"Fine."
Seika, slightly annoyed, handed it back to her.
Then, turning to PA-san, she added, "And you, don't celebrate too early."
As her gaze swept over the others, she noted their shock at learning the box's total value was in the millions, and she turned back to Saku.
"So, could you tell us why you're suddenly giving us all these luxury-brand cosmetics?"
If he had any ulterior motives, they'd have to turn down the gifts.
With that question out in the open, everyone's attention focused on Saku.
"Well, it's like this…"
Saku repeated the excuse he'd given Soyo the day before.
Now, having explained it once already, he could say it all even more smoothly.
"So, I hope you'll do me this favor."
After he finished, he added the most important line to seal the deal.
For a moment, everyone fell silent.
After a while, Chihaya Anon broke the silence, "Is it really necessary to go to such lengths?"
She followed a lot of beauty influencers but had never seen anyone willing to spend this much on product reviews.
"Yes, it's necessary. I run a professional review account."
Saku's reply was matter-of-fact.
"Spending this much… It shows how serious you are about this, Kamigawa-senpai!"
Ikuyo Kita was visibly moved by his dedication.
"In terms of money, this is really nothing. I can make it back without any trouble."
Though he genuinely wanted them to accept the gifts, Saku wasn't exaggerating.
Besides, he was already in talks with several cosmetics advertisers.
As he finished speaking, the room fell silent once more.
"Is this the casual ease of the wealthy?"
Kikuri sighed in envy as she drained her drink.
If she could make millions with such ease, she wouldn't have to keep drinking just to ease her worries about the future.
Concerns like marriage, retirement, and all that wouldn't matter.
'Marriage?'
The thought lingered, and Kikuri found herself glancing over at Saku.
