I Inherit Millions Out Of Nowhere

Chapter 11: Karma In Motion

Entering the room, Brentley realized he might have overthought things. Phoebe had already set up a meal on the dining table.

"Why did you suddenly decide to invite me for dinner?" Brentley asked softly.

"I was in a good mood today and wanted to share it with someone. But I don't have any friends here, so I called you over!" Phoebe replied with a cheerful smile. She then recounted the events that had happened during her live-stream earlier.

Brentley listened quietly, occasionally feigning surprise, as Phoebe had no idea that the generous benefactor she was talking about was actually him.

"I wonder who that 'Gone with the Wind' guy really is? How old is he?" Phoebe mused aloud while nibbling on some snacks.

"Just a rich guy," Brentley replied nonchalantly.

"Of course, he must be rich. Otherwise, he wouldn't have sent me so many gifts. You have no idea, when he was showering me with gifts in the live-stream, I was really moved. If he's handsome, I wouldn't mind marrying him!" Phoebe said softly.

Brentley was taken aback by her words and then asked gently, "Do all girls like rich guys?"

"Who says that? I don't like rich guys!" Phoebe quickly retorted.

"Then why were you moved by that rich guy?" Brentley asked softly.

"I was moved because he helped me out!" Phoebe explained seriously, looking at Brentley.

"Helped you out?" Brentley frowned slightly.

"Yeah, a year ago I ran away from home. I've been struggling on my own ever since, feeling lonely and helpless. I don't have many skills, so I became a streamer to make some money to support myself. But I never intended to sell my dignity for streaming. I have my limits. Many people have bullied me, but no one has ever helped me. 'Gone with the Wind' was the first person to help me online," Phoebe said slowly.

"Why did you run away from home?" Brentley asked softly, taken aback.

"It's... it's nothing!" Phoebe replied dismissively, then looked at Brentley and said, "Enough about me. Let's talk about you. I don't even know your name yet!"

Brentley gave a brief introduction of himself and then shared his story with Ophelia.

Both Phoebe and Brentley were alone in this city. Although Phoebe's life was slightly better than Brentley's, they found common ground and chatted while eating.

It wasn't until past 2 a.m. that Brentley returned to his room and collapsed into bed.

The next morning at 8 a.m., Brentley was awakened by the sound of his phone ringing. Still half-asleep, he answered the call and said softly, "Hello?"

"Brentley, are you crazy? Why aren't you at the campus yet? The first class today is with our homeroom teacher. Why aren't you here?" Graham shouted anxiously.

"I slept late last night..." Brentley replied helplessly before hanging up and starting to get dressed.

Brentley was in the university, where many classes could be skipped, but he dared not miss his homeroom teacher's class. If that lecturer found out he was skipping, the consequences could be terrible.

Half an hour later, Brentley hurriedly ran into the lecture hall, only to find that the class had already started. He gently knocked on the door.

"Come in!" A melodious voice called out.

Brentley pushed open the door and looked helplessly at the woman standing at the podium, who indeed looked like a fairy.

Today, she was wearing a white Chinese inspired dress, which showed her tall, curvy, and seductive figure. The dress made her allure even more irresistible.

Her delicate, enchanting face was lightly made up, her eyes were captivating, and her lips, painted with a soft pink lipstick, were sensually inviting. The dress hugged her enticing hips, and her long, slender legs were exposed to the air, ending in a pair of white high heels.

This woman was none other than Brentley's university advisor, Hailey.

"Why are you late?" Hailey's beautiful and seductive eyes scanned Brentley up and down, her tone slightly impatient.

"Why? He probably ran out of money after treating us to dinner last night and had to go collecting scraps!" Colby shouted loudly.

"Hahaha..." The class erupted in laughter.

"Did I ask you? Why can't you keep your mouth shut?" Hailey snapped back.

She turned her head and glared fiercely at Colby, reprimanding him in a cold voice. Colby immediately shut his mouth upon hearing this. It was rumored that Hailey had a powerful background, and ordinary students didn't dare to provoke her.

"Miss Hailey, I needed to take care of something personal," Brentley said, looking at her.

"Get out and stand in the hallway. If this happens again, you'll fail the class!" Hailey said expressionlessly.

"Okay," Brentley nodded lightly, then turned and walked out of the classroom.

Standing alone in the hallway, Brentley began to reflect on everything that had happened to him up until that day. It all seemed so unbelievable. Just that morning, he had been dumped by Ophelia for being broke, and by the afternoon, he had become a trillionaire.

The feeling was surreal and almost magical to Brentley.

"I wonder what Ophelia would think if she knew I had so much money now," Brentley couldn't help but muse to himself.

"Ring, ring, ring..."

The bell signaling the end of the lecture rang, and Hailey, in her high heels, gracefully walked out of the lecture hall. She gave Brentley a once-over and, squinting her eyes, said softly, "Brentley Carter, go to the administration office at 3 pm today and help me carry some things to my dorm. Got it?"

"Got it," Brentley nodded lightly.

"If you're late again, you'll see what I'll do to you!" With that, Hailey swayed her hips as she walked away into the distance.

Brentley returned to the classroom with a look of resignation. Upon entering, he noticed that Ophelia, Farrah, and Taylor were nowhere to be seen.

"Brentley, where have you been? You dare to be late for Miss Hailey's class?" Graham whispered to Brentley.

"I stayed up a bit late last night and couldn't get up this morning..." Brentley explained softly.

"Did you win the lottery and forget who you are?" Tyree chuckled, then added, "How much did you win?"

"Not much, just a hundred thousand," Brentley replied nonchalantly.

"What? A hundred thousand is not much? That's a lot!" Tyree exclaimed in surprise.

Brentley wasn't in the mood to discuss this with Tyree and Graham. He quickly scanned the classroom and asked quietly, "By the way, why aren't Ophelia, Farrah, and Taylor here?"

"Oh, you probably don't know yet. Last night, after we left the hotel, Colby's dad came over to pay the bill himself and even slapped Colby in front of everyone. Ophelia and the other girls got into some trouble at the hotel. The other party has some connections and knows some local thugs."

"This morning, they took Ophelia and the others away. Colby probably would go to rescue them," Graham quickly explained.

"Ever since Ophelia started hanging out with Colby, she's been acting all high and mighty. I heard she even hit the other party, but who knew they had such strong connections!" Tyree added.

"Heh..." Brentley couldn't help but chuckle at this but said nothing more.
